We’re sticking with tradition so serving fish. Cod with a bacon crumb cooked on tomatoes, peppers onion and capers with herby cous cous and garlic tenderstem broccoli. Minimal input required for tasty result!

Pan fried salmon, new potatoes, green beans and purple sprouting broccoli.

TheRealMrsMorningStar · 02/04/2021 20:46

Homemade pizza for DH, DD1 & DD2. Steak and griddled asparagus for me.

PickAChew · 02/04/2021 20:48

And I did order some lamb shoulder for Sunday - and it arrived dated tomorrow. So we're having it for dinner tomorrow and I suspect the leftovers will be another curry on Sunday. (we eat a lot of curry!)

Cod and chips is being brought back as I type. Plus a tub of tartar sauce (some horseradish will be added once he's home, plus loads of vinegar and sea salt flakes/pepper) and a can of Rio.

Well, I hope it is.

DP won't go along with my preferred baked salmon or white fish, boiled potatoes and a fucktonne of Dill and horseradish. Or herrings with red onion, dill or mustard. This and Scampi or prawn balls and salt n pepper squid are about the only fishy things I can get past him at the best of times. And he still grumbles that he'd really prefer pork.

I am the usual cook and DH asked if we were having fish. I'm not a Catholic so we had meatballs - he was welcome to cook some fish himself!

DenisetheMenace · 02/04/2021 21:03

More salmon, sorry.
Baked on top of Provençal lentils, fresh side down, skin rubbed with oil, salt and smoked paprika so it’s crispy.

CinnamonSweet73 · 02/04/2021 21:24

Nigella's Keralan fish curry made with monkfish - it was delish.

@Pascha

Is good Friday special dinner an actual thing then? I never knew that.
I didn't either! The kids had burgers and me and OH had fried egg on toast cos it was late and we couldn't be bothered 😂
AlwaysLatte · 02/04/2021 21:46

I keep meaning to be organised and start a tradition but it's always something different. Tonight was chicken cacciatore followed by home made hot cross buns which were delayed from the intended afternoon snack!

MemoryIsRAM · 02/04/2021 21:47

Sea bass, rice, mango salsa.

Total fluke it was fish today though!

RoseZinfandel · 02/04/2021 22:07

Cheese and onion pasties for lunch Kedgeree this evening. I only ever cook it on Good Friday.
Hot cross buns around 3pm.

wishywashywoowoo70 · 02/04/2021 22:13

Chicken and prawn paella.

Timeisavirtue · 02/04/2021 22:31

Usually I have fish as I’ve always had fish on good Friday, we are not even religious but just been brought up that way, however today was my birthday so I changed it just for my birthday and shish kebab 😂

RoseMartha · 02/04/2021 22:45

I made lasagne. With salad

After a hike with dc in tow, it was quite an effort lol

Midlifelady · 02/04/2021 22:48

We always do fish Friday, so it was breaded cod from Sainsbury's with chips and peas. No meat today.

Silkiescat · 03/04/2021 01:47

We had an avocado and prawn salad for lunch and fish, chips and beans from the chip shop for dinner apart from vegan DD who had vegetable chow mein.

CornishPastyDownUnder · 03/04/2021 01:56

We had apple and cinnamon hot cross buns for light lunch and had a Chinese takeaway with trifle for pud--was the DC choice..

myknightinshiningwhatever · 03/04/2021 01:58

Poutine!

chatw00 · 03/04/2021 03:48

Had lamb, green beans, cheesy/creamy potatoes (can't remember the proper name) and baby carrots. Might have fish and chips on Sat or Sun evening. Also have been eating hot cross buns and 'Easter' chocolate all week Blush
