I’ve had a grand total of sixty minutes sleep and I’m now wide awake. Anyone else still up? No doubt I’ll be starting to fall asleep as the dc wake up.

DP's appointment wasn't great, the cancer is spreading. I am not sure how long he has, he seems so well at the moment so they are going to continue the chemo and scan again in June. He is very subdued today though (no surprises there).

Insomnia is hell on earth isn't it. Even with stuff to help me sleep I am wide awake again tonight, looking forward to our second Covid jabs later then a trip through the MRI scanner this afternoon to see if they can find out why my left arm and leg are numb every night.

Absolutelyscunnered · 27/03/2021 01:11

@bloodywhitecat there are no words 💐

Really hoped today had brought better news for your DH. When I first heard the stats surrounding cancer as 1 in 4 will have cancer during their lifetime I was so shocked, I can’t get my head around the current stat of 1 in 2. It’s utterly horrendous that so many people have to experience this horrific disease.

I find that if I take medication to help me sleep and it doesn’t work I just end up feeling groggy the following day and need to “flush” things through my system with lots of water.

I think a troubled mind is hard to quiet. If you could run or something or at least get an hour of fresh air during the day, you might sleep better. I'm so sad to hear about your DH. How is he feeling in himself? How are YOU feeling?

Sorry to hear what people are going through.

I'm awake as DS is in hospital for the night, he broke his leg yesterday. It was very traumatic and my mind is racing despite not having had a wink of sleep. I'm so so grateful it was not a lot worse though.

Oh dear. These things happen. Try to rest.
LastInTheQueue · 27/03/2021 05:01

Adding my name to the list.

Seem to be waking up earlier every night for the past four nights - yesterday was 2am, tonight was just after 1.

Actually got up, loaded the washing machine and cleaned the kitchen. The cats seem to enjoy having me awake as they get extra cuddles.

Mind has been racing with “things to do” - we had an offer accepted on a house this week and there’s so much to do. It’s a big step in many ways - we’ll be living together for the first time, the house needs a lot of work, the deposit has just about eaten up all of our savings, and we’ve just found out we have very different tastes when it comes to decorating!

Hope everyone managed to go back to sleep for even a little bit. Grateful tomorrow (today?) is Saturday as it means I have a lie-in if needed, but seems like a waste of a weekend when I’m too tired to actually enjoy it.

We have chatted about medical trials this morning and Monday is going to be the day I make some calls. He has age on his side, he is fit (for a 56 year old), we are going to fight this tooth and nail!

Absolutelyscunnered · 27/03/2021 19:42

@bloodywhitecat hoping your mri went ok. I’m keeping everything crossed that there is a suitable medical trial for your DH. Hope you manage to get some rest tonight to give you the energy you need to tackle the journey ahead.

The clocks change tonight so by the time I get to sleep it will probably be time to get up.

OP posts:
OysterMonkey · 27/03/2021 19:56

Oh shit, I forgot about the clocks.
It was 4.45 ish when I went to sleep last night. So god knows what it’ll be today .....

Absolutelyscunnered · 29/03/2021 00:46

Hello fellow insomniacs! Hope everyone had a better day than me. On the sofa reading at the moment with the tv on in the background.
DH has a major deadline for work approaching so is locked away in the office so it’s been another lonely night.

Morning, back again.

MarieDelaere · 29/03/2021 02:16

Hello all. Sorry you're all having such a bummer of a time. I'm struggling after my biologic injection.

I'm reading bits and bobs online. Saw the ISS earlier.

Absolutelyscunnered · 29/03/2021 02:28

@Sunbird24 sorry you’re not sleeping either

@MarieDelaere hope the injection helps 💐. The specialist said it’s only a matter of time for me before I end up on one. Going out on a limb here, it’s not SLE by any chance is it?

OP posts:
MarieDelaere · 29/03/2021 02:41

@Absolutelyscunnered, I'm on Adalimumab for pretty severe psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis. Have been since September.

I thought I was getting used to it but this last injection I did on Thursday just knocked me sideways for some reason. So I'm resting without sleeping!

It's ever so quiet, though. Peaceful.

ismiseeire · 29/03/2021 02:50

I'm here again and infuriated. Not something I can talk about though. Fucking awful.

TheWindOnTheMoon · 29/03/2021 02:51

DH & I have been awake most of the night. Cottage across the lane from us is a holiday cottage and an alarm has been going off all fucking nightAngry. I managed a bit of sleep earlier but wide awake now for rest of night. Sad

Absolutelyscunnered · 29/03/2021 03:07

@MarieDelaere sorry to hear you have psa. I think it can take some time to adapt to biologics but if anything seems really out of sorts contact the specialist. Hopefully things settle down for you soon.

@TheWindOnTheMoon that would drive me completely batshit. Is there a number for the security company on the alarm? It’s usually our neighbours car alarm going off which keeps us awake, and it goes right through you doesn’t it.

Mona Lisa Smile is starting in 15 mins on the Sony Movies channel. Going to stick that on and see if it distracts me to sleep. I’ve got my 8 week scan with the IVF clinic today and hoping the little bean has caught up a bit as it was measuring 5 days behind at the last one - explainable with a natural conception as ovulation may have been later than thought, but less so with a scientific one.

Sorry to hear that. Everything always seems so much more overwhelming at this time of night. 🤗 💐
OP posts:
Absolutelyscunnered · 29/03/2021 03:13

@Sunbird24 keeping everything crossed for the best possible outcome from your scan. I might give Mona Lisa smile a go too, it’s not something I’ve seen before

OP posts:
Sunbird24 · 29/03/2021 03:17

@ismiseeire it sucks being all wound up when you want to sleep, and it just multiplies the aggravation doesn’t it!

@Absolutelyscunnered thank you. I think I’ve seen it before but it seems like it might be fairly gentle on the brain

SionnachGlic · 29/03/2021 03:40

I'm new to this...last few months & no reason that I can think of. I've been trying pillow mist, lavender oil, Tisserand roller oils. I have no idea which of them, if any, work. I might get 5 hrs sleep one night & maybe only 2/3 another. Tonight I was really tired about 9.30, did the tidy-up..into bed, did a sleep story on Calm app...listened to the entire...tried ocean waves sounds...still awake & fidgety. Is there a natural remedy available that might help...if so, please let me know. I def don't want sleeping pills...but problem is that lack of sleep makes the working day v difficult & working week (accumulation of nights) quite unbearable....

SionnachGlic · 29/03/2021 04:02

Ye must be all asleep 😴😴

hairymuffet · 29/03/2021 04:08

Nope.. I'm here.
Awake since 0130, asleep since around 1030 pm.
No problem falling asleep, but if I waken, that's it.... GAME OVER .
Will probably get up shortly, it's a waste of time lying here lol

Sunbird24 · 29/03/2021 04:15

Suspect we’re probably not the best people to ask for tips on getting to sleep lovely!
