I’ve had a grand total of sixty minutes sleep and I’m now wide awake. Anyone else still up? No doubt I’ll be starting to fall asleep as the dc wake up.

Night shifts must be truly awful - I really feel for you. Xx

Sunbird24 · 26/03/2021 02:37

@ismiseeire are they suggesting hypoparathyroidism? I had the opposite, had a parathyroid tumour taken out a couple of years ago to bring my calcium levels down. Really feel for you, so few medical professionals seem to completely understand the issues inappropriate calcium levels can cause.

@Absolutelyscunnered usually my feet are freezing so I have an electric pillow down the bottom of my bed, can’t think of anything I can use to achieve the opposite effect! May have to open the window and burrito myself in my duvet with my feet sticking out!

Absolutelyscunnered · 26/03/2021 02:41

@Sunbird24 if you have any ziploc bags could you double bag some frozen peas and use that. Peas work well as they will mould around your foot.

Ooh, I do have a glass jar of cauliflower soup in the fridge I’m not planning to eat, will try that with a sock over it. Thanks Scunner

IwishIwasontheN17 · 26/03/2021 02:55

@Sunbird24 maybe fill a hot water bottle & shove in freezer for an hour?

💐 to all this evening. @bloodywhitecat I remember your first thread. Shocking treatment. I hope you and DP and the fosterbabes are as well as can be expected.

I’m up again with youngest. Youngest doesn’t sleep.

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 26/03/2021 03:00

My cat is taking up 3/4 of my bed and flat out snoring. Bastard cat

I ended up in a different hospital to my usual hospital about 5 weeks ago I suppose as my hospital was full, so the ambulance brought me there. I was admitted for 7 days and they couldn't find any cause. On the last day of my admission this consultant said that she wasn't happy with the previous proposed diagnoses during the week and that she wanted to go through my scans with the radiologist. I was discharged the next day and didn't think anything of it. Last week, I was copied on a letter from her to my GP saying that there was a lesion on an adrenal gland and asking my GP to refer me to endocrinology. My GP doesn't act on letters unless you call them, but you can't get through to them. I have no idea how a slight lesion somewhere could cause my entire torso to be in agony, but whatever. As far as I know, I have not yet been referred to endocrinology.

But my arm flapping was a bit concerning! Haha. If you can imagine an involuntary sort of flap? Good heavens, I looked like something out of Dad's Army.

Is thyroid and calcium levels related? It's a doctor friend who seemed really concerned about my arm sort of reflex jumping who suggested low calcium. She didn't know about the adrenal lesion (is that to do with your thyroid or totally different?)

Hi Emma. I'm like a lark here with flapping arms, so very happy to chat.

VettiyaIruken · 26/03/2021 03:46

Hi. Things are normally quite quiet on here at night.

sashh · 26/03/2021 03:49

Morning all.

The cafe is open if you want coffee.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 26/03/2021 03:54

Another sleepless night here. I did forget to take my meds, although they rarely actually make me sleep anyway.

I've just treated myself to nice tea from whittards, including a sleep time blend. No idea if it works. They have a offer for free biscuits too Grin

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 26/03/2021 04:02

@emmas89 I think yours was the thread about a chastity cage? Night shift will have hidden it because its an odd topic. Especially for a new poster in the middle of the night.

Absolutelyscunnered · 26/03/2021 04:32

Dc will be up in two hours, not even sure if it’s worth trying to sleep now

OP posts:
Autumn101 · 26/03/2021 06:29

Shocker of a night here, far too many vivid anxiety dreams and constant wake ups! I’ll be grumpy today.......

A previous poster mentioned sleep aids - I find they do help a bit but when I stop taking them my insomnia is so much worse so it’s not worth it. I’ve tried various things from the doctor too and none have enough of an effect to counteract the side effects (Zopiclone makes me sleep but I feel terrible the next day!).

I know I’m coming to the end of this ‘peak’ as it always follows a very similar pattern.

Does anyone else come from a family of insomniacs? I’m sure there’s a genetic link, my mum and brother are terrible sleepers also, as is one of my DC..........

TopTabby · 26/03/2021 06:46

'Good' morning, can I join?
Got 2 hours sleep before waking at 2.30 & been awake since.
I've been like this on & off for weeks but last night was the worst I've been in a long time.
I while away the hours by firstly reading for a bit. The rest of the night I was on a constant loop of things I need to sort out & stuff that seems ridiculous now.
Gave in & got up at 5.15, not looking forward to today, feel knackered & slightly sick. Got work in a bit.
I'm 50 & think it's probably something to do with my age but I've never been a great sleeper. Dreading it carrying on like this TBHSad

Sunbird24 · 26/03/2021 07:18

@ismiseeire I’ve sent you a PM

bloodywhitecat · 26/03/2021 08:50

Flowers to everyone battling with the NHS and their own health. I didn't get much sleep, every time I nodded off I woke with that sickening start. I don't want 11am to come because I don't want to know. I know he is scared too because he's busy doing nothing in particular in the garden. Oh well, what will be will be I suppose.

Absolutelyscunnered · 27/03/2021 00:11

Not sure 🤔 what time counts as insomnia on a Friday night in lockdown. Hi to those who want to be asleep but aren’t.

OP posts:
AnaofBroceliande · 27/03/2021 00:24

I'm up but then I'm nearly always up. My insomnia is not being able to get off. Once I do I'm usually good. Tried everything.
