Crawling back to normality slightly slower than a tortoise taking the scenic route...

@WouldBeGood

I think skoosh is Scottish, on reflection
I've googled it

Good word.

Now I'd like to go dancing.

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 22:08

Christ, me too @AcornAutumn

MercyBooth · 25/03/2021 22:33

@MrsEWeatherwax My Dad did National Service in the 1950s. He spent some time on a polio ward as part of it. He thinks the Gov. have lost all perspective

Worldgonecrazy · 26/03/2021 07:41

@BogRollBOGOF have you thought about teaching in a Steiner school? Boundary pushers and Mavericks are welcome 😎

Worldgonecrazy · 26/03/2021 07:43

I have been blessed to go to very posh cocktail bars and angostura was a quick splash in the glass, swoosh around a bit and empty out drops, so it’s more a thin coating before the other ingredients go in.

ISaySteadyOn · 26/03/2021 08:29

Oh, I put it in my g and ts and it's lovely. Love angostura in a cocktail. Smile

blobby10 · 26/03/2021 08:52

Cycled into work today for the first time since last October and there are definitely lots more cars on the road. Its just short of a year since I did my first cycle into work and on that day the roads were deserted! In fact, all last summer I cycled in on a Friday (no one else in to complain about lycra cycling kit draped everywhere to dry out before being donned for the return journey Grin) and the empty roads were just heaven Grin.

Hopefully its a sign that more and more people are thinking 'stuff it' when told to 'stay home, save lives' 🤞

That's interesting but they can afford to throw it away I guess!

ISaySteadyOn I think it was the combo with sugar syrup that made it nice, not sure what I think of it in a G&T.

Try a brandy sour Acorn. Many a tipsy afternoon has been spent drinking this!

Ooh... @Iheartmysmart that looks great.

I have a truly terrible day lined up so might get the ingredients for tonight

AcornAutumn · 26/03/2021 12:30

Thanks Iheart

I don't have any brandy though. I will see if there's any at my parents. They kept loads of booze for guests though they barely drank themselves - like me, just a drink on special occasions.

So sadly, after dad died, mum gave away as much as she could. I have persuaded her to calm down. I hate whiskey normally but figure it can be used and also I honestly fear they'll ban booze or something. I now want to have a stash. I haven't told her that, just told her it will save me money on gifts etc.

I don't mind her giving away wine but not proper liquor!

Iheartmysmart · 26/03/2021 12:33

It is really nice @WouldBeGood. I usually use cloudy lemonade when making it. Jug of that with some feta or halloumi, breadsticks and olives is a very nice way to waste an evening Wink

WouldBeGood · 26/03/2021 12:35

Just extending my list @Iheartmysmart, all my favourite things on there!

Iheartmysmart · 26/03/2021 12:36

Cheap brandy is what you need Acorn. Or if you’ve got whiskey, lime cordial and ginger ale is nice with it. Hmm think I’m a bit over invested in alcohol....

I tried whiskey and ginger ale and it didn't remove whatever it is in whiskey that I don't like.

The temptation to be on the Tube with my lanyard and swig from a hip flask.....I'd probably get pinned down by a SWAT team though.

I used to say to my friends that if I reached 60, I'd drink loads and they'd have to look after me on nights out 😂

In some ways, I am lucky that booze is a new toy for me in lockdown!

I won't ask but fingers crossed it turns out better Flowers
WouldBeGood · 26/03/2021 12:47

Thanks @AcornAutumn

Iheartmysmart · 26/03/2021 12:50

Think it’s the lime cordial that makes the difference. I’m not a fan of whiskey and ginger on its own.

You definitely need a hip flask @AcornAutumn. I take one out on cold afternoons walking with the dog, obviously if I’m not driving! Drop of port for medicinal purposes.

Sorry @WouldBeGood I should have said I hope your day gets better Flowers

AcornAutumn · 26/03/2021 12:53

Gosh, it's such a relief to be on a thread with normal people who aren't against the things that make life fun. As I said, I didn't really drink before but I can't abide Puritans who tell others what to do.

ISaySteadyOn · 26/03/2021 13:23

@WouldBeGood, I hope your day gets better.

Thanks for that, acorn - I hadn't heard about it, but have just sent in an email with all my objections to any sort of vaccine passport!

TrustTheGeneGenie · 26/03/2021 18:35

Checking in. Just catching up....

FatLadySang · 26/03/2021 20:13

Thanks @AcornAutumn. I have sent in a submission for all the good it will do. This, I think, is the step towards ID cards governments of all stripes have tried my entire life to get us to accept...
