Crawling back to normality slightly slower than a tortoise taking the scenic route...

Livin last year when things started to open I stayed up till Midnight to book a swimming slot for me and DC2 only to find out it was members only and no under 16s anyway. It was 'only' swimming but it made me cry so completely get how you feel Flowers

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 07/04/2021 15:47

They were meant to be flowers not star. Not sure what happened there!

I've seen pheasants and goldfinches on todays run. The weather was no fun though. There were a couple of random flakes of snow. Glad I didn't bother trying to force the kids out.

The DCs are lucky to have got back to swimming lessons in the autumn, and they start back up again next week, but they haven't swum for fun in 13m, and I haven't been in a pool since then because the roolz are just not practical for us. I'm not private hiring half a pool for a splash session!

I do wonder if last April/ May had been on the crappy side of average weather, whether all this may have crumbled sooner as there would have been less patience and harder to follow the rules.

We had our first riding lesson and hack this year today. Not a cheap experience but apart from lunch outside in about 5 degrees yesterday, I'm not spending any other money this holiday.

Made the mistake of listening to PM while cooking tea this evening. After 40 minutes they were still talking about the blood clots and the seventeen people out of 36 million who sadly died. I switched to a music channel.

Interesting twitter thread on rate of CVST after AZ vaccine, compared with usual rate in the general population:

Thanks all. The CT scan pictures were an eye opener. All my back trouble, my spine looks like a twisted snake, he thinks I was either born with it or childbirth damaged me badly. Lungs fine, ditto, liver, my hips fine no replacement needed. Now my kidney lesion, booked in for MRI because CT scan not detailed enough, after that they'll decide to monitor or remove lesion which is the size of a pinky finger nail. I'll have to go to Manchester for that .

Thanks all for good wishes

I'm hoping that's good news justasking.

I'm not induly concerned about having recently had AZ at a moderately tender age. I'll go for my booster appointment as planned. Having superficially unpleasant side effects at 12-36 hours seems pretty common around my age group though. Out of 3 people I know who had the vaccine within 30 mins of each other, we all struggled the following day and our normal business was impeded. Useful that Moderna has been released at this point and hopefully more comfortable for younger adults.

DH is on AL the next 2 days so hopefully it should feel a bit more holidayish and less lockdowny. The poor magnolia flowers have all been burned by the hard frost and wind. No wonder I've not been up for lugging the DCs out for the sake of it!

New thread name needed soon.

Is the Three Bellends opening up for al fresco pints? Retail therapy is also well overdue!

Wonderful!

When I saw her yesterday she was sleeping. It was beautiful.

Amazing! In North London? I realise you won't want to say exactly where.
ISaySteadyOn · 08/04/2021 11:22

Yes, more northeast London though. I think.

ISaySteadyOn · 08/04/2021 11:24

There are two pairs of nesting swans and some Egyptian geese who come down from Norfolk if my bird book is accurate.

I'm impressed with your knowledge!

The Sleeping Swan would be a a lovely pub name. I might draw one later -a swan, not a pub!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 08/04/2021 11:55

How about "ADs enjoying an outdoor drink at the Sleeping Swans" or similar for our next thread title l?

Love it!

I see herons and moorhen around here, as we're by the Thames and also the outlet for another river. There's a creek here that was cleaned up a few years back and we're seeing more water birds now.

No geese though, oddly. If I want to see a goose I have to go to Richmond.

Perhaps they are postcode fussy.

I wouldn't put it past them.

You wanna hear the most batshit crazy thing?
Following my gym rant yesterday I found an alternative gym to move to. My current gym took the direct debit payment out in Jan just before they closed. They then said that this will roll over. So won't have to pay for April and a bit of May. I can't use the gym as the slots they have are shit.
So called today and asked if I cancel my membership will I get a refund for the month I have already paid.
Apparently not, if I wanted to cancel my membership that payment relates to I would have had to cancelled on the 15th December. So back on the 15th December I was supposed to not only know that everything was gonna shut again, but that when they reopened it would be different. Okaaaaaaay.
There is no contract, it is a month by month thing.

Taswama · 08/04/2021 19:35

At least you are on monthly rather than tied into it for a year.

DS2 was very excited to be going to the dentists today - 'we haven't been there in ages' - yes since 2019 to be precise!

BogRollBOGOF · 08/04/2021 21:39

I got dressed up to go to the dentist, tights, dress. Got to make the most of big occasions Grin

Bog I was thinking of you earlier....you mentioned about friends not seeing you last summer when they had the chance. Have you heard from them since? Do you have any idea where they are with all this now?

AcornAutumn · 08/04/2021 21:48

I'm not a fashionable person but I do normally wear a bit of lippy

now when I go out I don't, because I think people will see the lanyard and the lippy and think I'm faking the lanyard, so to speak!
