Crawling back to normality slightly slower than a tortoise taking the scenic route...
@TrustTheGeneGenie. I’m not sure why you were told that. A family member was on furlough and has managed to get a mortgage with Cambridge Building Society. The mortgage offer was on hold until she was taken off furlough, and it’s slightly more expensive than other mortgages out there but otherwise now proceeding as normal. They just needed notification from her employer that she was back at work and her non furloughed pay slip.

Hope you feel able to pick yourself up and dust yourself down soon.

This situation stinks for so many people. Not sure if anyone saw the news about what’s happening in Birmingham? One in ten unemployed and another 55000 expected to be added to that before the end of the year. 😢
We are with Santander and want to stay with them because we have early repayment fees, but they are denying applications from people who have been furloughed unfortunately. If we have to pay the fees it would knock a big chunk out of our equity which wouldn't help with affordability.

I think i just need to accept that my life is shit and always will be, tbh.

I get it could be worse, and yes we have been lucky but its just a continuous trend in my life that nothing ever goes the way i want it to. Ever.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/03/2021 12:09

Things will change Trust. It's just bloody hard clinging on while it feels like it's not changing and there's no pleasant distractions along the way.

I just cant believe they will @BogRollBOGOF my whole adult life has been a series of fuck ups and problems and bad times. Someone or something is clearly trying to tell me not to try and have better, because it just wont happen.

Worldgonecrazy · 22/03/2021 12:38

@TrustTheGeneGenie. Apologies, you had explained that before.

There is no doubt that life is shit right now, but I do know that it will get better. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but at some point it will improve.

AcornAutumn · 22/03/2021 12:39

Trust hugs. I know that doesn't help with money!

world 🎤a statistic, a reminder of a world that doesn't care

Jesus Christ. The economy is going to be fucked for decades, isn't it?

But we saved lives! Hmm.

@TrustTheGeneGenie Flowers. I am sorry everything feels so hard. I wish I could help.

@AcornAutumn, I'm in NE London so when it's warmer or you feel comfortable, we're nearly neighbours Smile!

Thank you. I feel like I put the worst of myself on this board so I really appreciate you letting me know.

DS got a mortgage his restaurant shut down, thinking he used independent advisor though, maybe try that route @AcornAutumn

It's TrusttheGeneGenie who is having the mortgage issue.

I also hope there's a way round it.

We are using one, (he is my stepdad haha) but to avoid fees we wanted to stay with Santander.

To be honest i am thinking we just sack moving off for a couple of years, until OH doesnt have maintenance to pay because that will make a big difference.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with our house, we just dont love it.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/03/2021 13:35

And being stuck in it for the majority of the year won't have helped either.

You were doing battle with the woodchip a few months ago weren't you?

AcornAutumn · 22/03/2021 13:49

Trust I was meant to move during this, it's a box here and I struggle.

But for various reasons, i think it might have turned out for the best. If there's nothing wrong, and arguably there's nothing wrong here, then waiting might well work out.

i think that's made it 100 times worse honestly! i dont think i would neccesarily hate it so much if i hadnt seen as much of it!

Yep! All gone now... thought nice decor would make me love it, but i think i have just got it into my head that i dont like the house now. I wish we had never considered moving!! because now we cant everything just feels much worse.

I really hope so. I try and tell myself that everything happens for a reason, but i am just not sure what the reason is. Honestly i just feel like nothing ever works out for me. We have bought the wrong house, twice now. We have had to postpone our wedding, and then postpone it again. Currently we dont even really have a wedding because the venue has closed. Our relationship has been difficult because of his ex and child. Nothing is ever straight forward honestly. Sometimes i just wish i could go back in time and start again!
AcornAutumn · 22/03/2021 14:09

Trust I don't know what buying the wrong house would mean really

If it's any consolation, a couple of my friends have been driven mad by the ex and shared custody. It calmed down.

I think everything feels mired in glue at the moment and certainly for me, my perspective is skewed on other things.

justasking111 · 22/03/2021 14:20

Had results from CT scan I have a kidney lesion shocked, scared. See urologist next week haven't told anyone, will go see urologist to get more information. My dad died of kidney cancer, two years from first scan, he wouldn't have treatment. I have no symptoms the scan picked it up while looking for other things

Worldgonecrazy · 22/03/2021 14:23

@justasking111. So sorry to hear that. I really hope it turns out to be nothing serious , but it must be terrifying for you right now.

Fingers, toes and everything crossed for you.

it just isnt right for us, the space i think mainly - the first one wasnt right, area wise - but we werent to know at the time.

i know what you mean about perpective being skewed, i think mine is massively - i dont think my reaction to this wouldvebeen so strong in normal times, because i would have had other nice things going on, there wouldnt have been additional stresses like the wedding etc either.

i think everything is just getting on top of me

MrsEWeatherwax · 22/03/2021 14:46

💐 to everyone struggling. It’s now been a year since my DM has been hugged by anyone other than my DF. I let my DD go into her house as an emergency welfare visit because my DF said she was going down hill again. And she gets more pleasure from her GC than me.
Roll on next Monday, getting lighter on an evening, so my DF will come and sit in our garden.
If you told me over a year ago I would be excited about my DF sitting in my garden I would have thought your were mad.
We are decluttering the house and wondering if we can cope with the excitement of going to the tip next week. Wonder if both of us can be in car, or if it’s one person per car. Petty rules.
Anyone else thinking of getting private healthcare insurance, we are because I think face to face doctor appointment are going to be harder to get, now people have excepted third rate phone appointments.
At least at my DD orthodontist, we no longer have to take photos of her teeth/brace before they will see us.

Flowers and Brew for everyone struggling

And sorry to hear that justasking111, what a thing to have sprung on you especially with no symptoms. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Acorn mired in glue is a very accurate description. I'm having to really kick my own arse to get even basic things done at the moment.

DH's op went well, he's now back here recovering. Pushing his luck as regards the number of Brew one person can realistically ask to make another over the course of a day but I'm letting him milk it for now and will withdraw the tea service incrementally as he improves!

Iheartmysmart · 22/03/2021 15:37

Flowers for everyone having a rubbish time at the moment. Everything just feels insurmountable, I cried yesterday because the trip switch went for the sockets. Usually I’d laugh, get the steps out and flip the switch back again. But no, I cried!

TabbyStar · 22/03/2021 15:48

justasking Thanks The wait is so horrible, you can't actually really do anything so it just goes round and round in your head and although there are various possibilities our minds can skip to the worst, especially with the family connection, but it can be easy to fit the evidence to one conclusion when it could be a range of things.

Thanks to everyone else struggling at the moment too.
