Crawling back to normality slightly slower than a tortoise taking the scenic route...

@110APiccadilly

Hope you get good news and soon *@justasking111*. I saw this and thought it might make others laugh - it certainly made me laugh.
brilliant
Jourdain11 · 22/03/2021 17:19

@justasking111 fingers crossed that it will turn out not to be what you fear and thinking of you. It's a horrible thing to go through and worse when you don't have the usual distractions! It's almost exactly a year since I had my own horrible wait and I can utterly sympathise xxx

LivinLaVidaLoki · 22/03/2021 17:43

@justasking111
So sorry you've to face that now. everything crossed that it turns out to be nothing serious. Sending you my best. Genuinely.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 22/03/2021 17:49

Very best of luck to you justasking111 I hope you get good results, it's understandable that you are panicked but I wish you all the best.
I have been quiet because I have nothing to say...no news whatsoever from my end! Just the same things day in, day out like everyone else

Yep, me too. Nothing of any excitement today, tho I did cut an inch off of my hair, does that count?

Worldgonecrazy · 22/03/2021 19:58

@Curlygirl06. Guessing from your user name you’re another curly cursed or blessed (?) AD. I did the unicorn cut and think the curls hide all the errors. Never have I lived my unmanageable hair more. It must be hellish for anyone with straight hair that shows any bits where the scissors did their own thing.

Worldgonecrazy · 22/03/2021 19:58

Adam Wagner seems to be saying no foreign travel until end of June? Hope I’m misreading the tweets!

Evenstar · 22/03/2021 20:05

Sorry to hear that @justasking111 💐 hope they manage to see you quickly and it is good news.

Mired in glue is how everything feels @AcornAutumn, I think you have really hit the nail on the head. DH and I would like to move nearer the adult children, potentially next year. We have had to cancel a short trip to explore the area we are thinking of three times now. We rebooked for the autumn this year, a full year after we first planned to go and now they are saying we should expect another “difficult” winter so who knows.

It is quite tempting to just move but I know that would be very foolish. I just feel I can’t contemplate not seeing them for months again and missing out on Christmas etc because we aren’t near enough at the moment to meet outside or just go for the day.

mightbealittlebitmad · 22/03/2021 20:25

I'm getting increasingly restless and don't know what to do with myself. I feel like I'm hitting an early mid life crisis, marriage problems, want to go out and get hammered, get new piercings, dye my hair a random colour...

I need stuff to do before I fall apart!

AcornAutumn · 22/03/2021 21:09

Even lot of debate with me, mum and sister for the same reason. Bluntly speaking, in mum's own words, given her age (82) it makes more sense for sis and I to wait.

But after this experience I want to live near my sister or best friend. Of course, either of them might move in future for any reason but I would like to be near someone!

Changing the subject completely, does anyone else feel the internet is eating itself? I am seeing websites that are so complex to look at, I just run away if they aren't work related.

Logging into a bank account is something I've moaned about before...really out of hand. The trend for a nice clean website seems to have gone already.

justasking111 · 22/03/2021 22:27

Thanks for the kind messages, going to be a long wait until I see the consultant, no distractions in lockdown

Oh I've just scrolled back and seen your earlier post

What a shock. I hope you are holding up okay. Is it a long wait, have they given you any indication?

Hugs.

justasking111 · 22/03/2021 22:50

9 days which is good. I had CT scan for some else which is supposed to be ok the scan picked up the lesion. Bit cross waiting a month for results so phoned consultant secretary this morning who apologised results fine but then noticed consultant had noted the kidney problems. And recommended I see a urologist I was so shocked she's organised an appointment with urologist over the phone to me. I do think that I should have been notified sooner, if I hadn't phoned god knows when I would have heard

AcornAutumn · 22/03/2021 23:48

just fingers crossed.

Hope you can sleep. Here's Haburu especially for you

Call me harsh

This is exactly the kind of thing I don't want the NHS spending money on. Their purpose should be to treat existing problems. If you could get your cataract operation done in a timely way, for example, that would be good.

But this trying to predict what you'll have? No. I don't want my NIC going to this.

MercyBooth · 23/03/2021 02:20

They need to concentrate on fixing the problems caused by the pandemic and the lockdowns...........the backlog of patients that are in pain/have a life threatening illness.

Worldgonecrazy · 23/03/2021 06:16

@AcornAutumn I read the article and thought ‘great idea’. Then I remembered the head in the sand attitude a lot of people in this country take to health care and think it would just be a waste of money.

We all know what we need to do to improve our odds of being healthy but many of us don’t do what is needed. DNA would be a useful addition but I think would lead to worse outcomes- the mentality would be ‘I am low risk for this so I don’t need to do anything’.

Predict what you have and then.... Not treat you for it presumably because they won't have the time or the money to!

It'll probably be, well hey, we told you you were likely to get cancer, deal with it.

DM is still hearing nothing about the operation that was cancelled at the last moment in Oct 19, months before most British people had heard of Wuhan. She can not contact her GPs without getting someone with a computer to do it for her.

At 82, she is who the NHS was being "saved" to support.

She's at the niggly stage of health, and anything over the past 15 years such as her knee replacement has been dragged out far longer than it needed to be in a buck passing system that the Vogons would admire. Physio a frequent point of shoving around to look like you're doing something. It can be grear done properly, but not as an extra stage of passing around for rhe sake of it. How much money gets wasted in this kind of way?

If the Radio goes silent today, I'm going to whack on Disturbed's Sound of Silence as an appropriate tribute. Grin
I hated the silent roads late at night, the traffic noise covers my tinnitus nicely. Gosh it's been a noisy quiet year.

Quite.

I had a thought the other day that I wanted to share here that came about based on DS' objections to the possibility of a new fridge.

I worry about sounding callous but I think, were I in charge, I would, at the beginning of this, have noted it and asked people to consult with their GPs if worried. But other than that, I wouldn't have done anything. I'd have left society in place. And, honestly, I think people would have been better equipped to cope with problems as they would have had their lives to help.

Is that a cold hearted view? Essentially, I think I have just admitted that I might have been for 'let it rip'

NB: Pubs weren't shut during The Black Death.

I’ve just made the mistake of dipping into the holidays banned thread. The constant squawking of ‘it’s a global pandemic dontcha know’. Well that’s tautology for a start, you can’t have a pandemic that isn’t global.
I think it’s a cunning plan to get us to spend money in the UK but lots of holiday places have ramped up their prices which put UK holidays out of reach of many families.

Lostinacloud · 23/03/2021 08:41

All this chat today of no summer holidays just makes me want to scream

I AM HEALTHY!!!!!

Not everyone has sodding covid or is even necessarily going to catch it, especially since most people, vulnerable or not, are already vaccinated. Why must we all be treated as diseased?

I’m so angry this morning as this means yet more months will pass without any chance of seeing our family or friends while we live in France.

And, controversial I know but I’m too angry to care, i caught covid here last October and it was entirely nothing to write home about. If I’d never heard of it, I would have thought, well I felt crap for a few days there but nothing 3 days watching tv on the sofa and some paracetamol couldn’t handle. I know that’s not everybody’s experience but equally there must be many millions of people out there by now who’ve been infected and didn’t need hospital treatment or suffer from any long lasting effects? To continue to restrict everybody’s lives like this for a virus that most vulnerable people have now been protected against seems beyond ridiculous and I’m utterly fed up.

ISaySteadyOn · 23/03/2021 08:49

I caught it from DH who was quite ill. He went to bed when I told him to which was how I knew he had it badly. But he was up in a few days and I lay in bed and rested up and was also fine.

So totally support your feelings @Lostinacloud.
