What do you want for mothers day?

Whether an actual gift or the gift of peace and quiet lol
I'm not one for gifts. I'm happy with a bunch of flowers.
A friend of mine expects and would be quite arsey about not getting what she wants. Her dc are of an age where her dh has to buy. She's got a huge list.
I then think I'm boring for just enjoying a nice bunch of flowers or something along with a lie in

This year I have ordered a box of cupcakes as my friend makes them. But tbh it's mainly just for an after dinner treat for all of us.

Do you have any special requests or wishes

Pywich · 09/03/2021 20:17

Just some time with my daughter, but.... That's not allowed as yet, so I will just have to wait!!

I'm ordering afternoon tea for the four of us. Would love breakfast in bed and doing nothing all day

tommyhoundmum · 09/03/2021 21:13

themostwonderfultimeoftheyear Your DS sounds lovely

ThistleTits · 09/03/2021 21:13

@Ocsetldil

Brexit to be cancelled and we rejoin the EU. And this government to rot in a dungeon of filth.
I'll order that, with a side of covid vanishing.
Aloux · 09/03/2021 21:13

Nothing at all, I have my little boy he's my gift every year 😁😊💙 not gonna lie a box of chocs would be lovely too

bettertimesarecomingnow · 09/03/2021 21:18

A card and a cuddle!

Amaksy · 09/03/2021 21:29

I actually asked for a non-stick pan for my eggs and pancakes!!

Misty9 · 09/03/2021 21:30

I'd forgotten about it until I saw this thread, but exh has organised a card so I'll get that. Otherwise, I'll settle for a day of not arguing about screen time. My eldest is neuro diverse and finds any focus on other people very difficult to cope with...so anything other than a disastrous day will be a bonus! Tbh, I'm just glad I'll be spending it with my dc as I share care with their dad (it's my week)

PieInTheSky71 · 09/03/2021 21:32

Not having to lift a finger or think about anything domestic related all day. I do almost EVERYTHING all year round including on Christmas Day. Just one day of having a complete and utter break.

Plus something handmade from my pre-teens. I love it when they make me something.

kennycat · 09/03/2021 21:34

Same as every year. I want to not be mummy for the day. I want the whole day to myself. Tbh I’d quite like to wake up not in my house so I can get up at leisure and do my own thing. I love my children but I want a day off!!

takeasadsongandmakeitbetter · 09/03/2021 22:07

A lie in will do me fine!

EthelMerman · 09/03/2021 22:12

This, but if I can’t have it, then a box of Lindor would do me nicely.
FreddieMercurysCat · 09/03/2021 22:30

I’m not expecting anything tbh. I didn’t get anything for my birthday, Xmas, valentines so I wouldn’t think Mother’s Day would be any different.

fatimashortbread · 09/03/2021 22:30

Home made card -everything else is over-hyped nonsense.

HemlockStarglimmer · 09/03/2021 23:01

I'd like my teenager and my husband to acknowledge it. My husband's family don't do Mother's Day so he just never thinks to prompt said teen to do anything.
My father made sure we all got something for Mum every year. So it hurts that something so important to my family is so dismissed by my husband.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 09/03/2021 23:13

Ds(14) asked what I’d like.. I’ve told him I’d really love a new pencil case (I love doodling / journaling and he got me nice gel pens for Christmas). I’d also like a cup of coffee in bed.
In an ideal world I’d also like to see my adult dc and give them a hug, but I know that’s not exactly realistic right now.
I also like the idea of Mother’s Day being about something small from the dc, not fancy gifts from DH’s.

Flatoutonsofa · 09/03/2021 23:18

I'd love for my daughter to get a permanent job, my son to pass his exams, Covid to go away and people to be nice to each other. I don't think that's much to ask 😂

kimf1963 · 09/03/2021 23:20

I’m so sorry @Minniemountain for the loss of your lovely mum ,the first anniversary of anything is so hard when you have lost someone you love, I wish I could give you a big hug , my mum has been dead 10 years now, I still cry whenever I think of her, grief is the price of true love and hope you manage to cope on such a difficult day, thinking of you.

Mamanyt · 10/03/2021 00:22

My two sons are grown and gone. The nearest lives 450 miles away, and the second one lives almost 800 miles away. I'd love to have them both with me. We will zoom, and I'll see my granddaughter via zoom, but it isn't the same.

Ladybird69 · 10/03/2021 01:22

My Mum back 😭 it’s my first one without her, not looking forward to it and all the advertisements.

Me too I lost mine a few weeks ago
MinnieMountain · 10/03/2021 07:11

More hugs and flowers to those without their mothers for the first time.
Maybe the anticipation will be the worst bit? (hopeful)
