Inspired by a thread about bad singers. In your opinion, which singers have the best voices? I'll vote:

Michael Jackson
Stevie Wonder
James Morrison (underrated)
Christina Aguilera
Celion Dion
Mariah Carey
Whitney Houston
Joss Stone

Not sure if anyone has said Tracy Chapman. Just heard this today and gave me goosebumps. She has an amazing stage presence.

Oh yeah how could I forget Freddie Mercury and Adele.

Tom Chaplin - here with Queen covering Its a Hard Life. One of the hardest queen songs in terms of range and he nails it

Charles Aznavour. I'm listening to him singing 'She' just now. Perfect.

CarriMarie · 15/03/2021 21:44

Yesterday When I Was Young by Charles Aznavour, very nostalgic.

Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode).

Daryl Hall
Steve Perry from Journey.

I mentioned Steve Marriott at the beginning of this thread and have not noticed anyone else mention him. I just got a new book about him and the first few pages are quoted from other famous people talking about him. Many of them have been mentioned here numerous times. I hope the photos come out ok. Found it interesting that he's not mentioned more.

I agree he was fantastic @DialSquare. As a teenager I saw The Small Faces live many times. Teeny tiny little bloke (about 5' 4") with an absolutely powerhouse voice.

For the young folk who don't knoow what we're talking about

Billymackenzie

Steve Marriott of course.

I'm so jealous @BoreOfWhabylon! I was born the year they broke up. I think they are so unappreciated as a band. Particularly the song writing partnership of Marriott/Lane.

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/03/2021 14:17

They and The Who were my favourites @DialSquare. My friend and I used to hitch hike all over to see them.

The 1960s was fantastic for live music - we saw all the greats right up close in the days before great big venues.

DialSquare · 19/03/2021 14:19

I always say I was born too late. My dad was a Mod and saw all the great bands live. Such a fantastic era.

edwinbear · 19/03/2021 14:48

Bruno Mars was a huge surprise when I saw him at a corporate hospitality gig at the O2. He's a fantastic singer live - really wasn't expecting that at all.
