Inspired by a thread about bad singers. In your opinion, which singers have the best voices? I'll vote:

Michael Jackson
Stevie Wonder
James Morrison (underrated)
Christina Aguilera
Celion Dion
Mariah Carey
Whitney Houston
Joss Stone

@Plump82 can I ask why you think Jessie J is a pain?

TiersForFears1 · 06/03/2021 13:12

Leon Ware

WildRosie · 06/03/2021 13:43

Paul Rodgers.

Shes too OTT, in your face. She has an amazing voice, there's no denying that. I just don't think she comes across very likeable. She makes everything about her.

Plump82 · 06/03/2021 14:02

@Fridainexile

Yebba!!!!
Yes!!! She is amazing. I don't know much of her music but Evergreen is out of this

AdventureCode · 06/03/2021 14:16

Luther Vandross
Beverly night, so amazingly underrated and still unknown sadly
Jennifer Hudson
Mariah
Whitney H
James Morrison
Michael Buble & Sam Smith but only on certain songs Grin

1FootInTheRave · 06/03/2021 14:31

Tracey Chapman.

MrsAvocet · 06/03/2021 14:38

Many of the best singers aren't "pop" singers, but musical theatre performers. My personal favourite is Sutton Foster who is stupendously talented as a singer, dancer and actor.

SixStringFanjo · 06/03/2021 14:38

KD Lang
Roy Orbison
Dusty Springfield

Miley Cyrus is now really finding her voice.

colouringindoors · 06/03/2021 15:06

Nice to see the George Michael love.

this

ChaToilLeam · 06/03/2021 15:31

Don’t think anyone has mentioned Bruce Dickinson yet!

isseys4xmastinselcats · 06/03/2021 15:34

the lead singer of disturbed has a superb voice

JoseCuervo · 06/03/2021 15:37

Chris Stapleton
Carrie Underwood
Kelly Jones

Vargas · 06/03/2021 15:38

Another vote for Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine). AND she's beautiful - cow Grin

BorderlineHappy · 06/03/2021 15:39

Miley Cyrus is now really finding her voice.

I agree her new stuff is superb. Her voice is really starting to mature.
I like the grittier new songs.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 06/03/2021 17:21

I don't think Florence is a great singer. Nor is Celi Jones from Stereophonics. Both are distinctive, but not great singers.

TonTonMacoute · 06/03/2021 17:40

Terence Trent Darby, saw him at Brixton Academy back in the day, blew the roof off!

Cocolapew · 06/03/2021 17:43

Rita Coolidge
Mama Cass
Brian Wilson
Sade
Dean Martin, much better singer than Frank Sinatra
Doris Day
Al Green
Gwen Dickie from Rose Royce
Donny Hathaway
Teddy Pendergrass
Wilson Picket
Jackie Wilson
I also think Englebert Humperdink is better than Tom Jones

Emmab321 · 06/03/2021 18:09

To agree with what some some other posters have put:
Chris Stapleton and kelly jones

Fiddlersgreen · 06/03/2021 18:09

@IstandwithJackieWeaver

Have you heard Kelly Jones sing live? Can’t comment on Florence as I haven’t seen them live
joystir59 · 06/03/2021 18:17

Jeff Buckley
Michael Jackson
Pavarotti
Whitney Houston
Amy Winehouse

joystir59 · 06/03/2021 18:18

Oh, Sinead O'Connor!

GellerYeller · 06/03/2021 18:43

Streisand
Dusty
Miley
Don Henley
Another one who thinks Rick Astley live is criminally underrated!
Brendan Urie has a huge range
For me it's not just about perfection it's when someone opens their mouth and it's undeniably unique and you know who it is immediately . Stevie Nicks and Adele are absolutely in this category for me.
I've seen Ariana live and it's not my style but she is hugely talented.
Tracy Thorn is superb too.

tentative3 · 06/03/2021 18:43

Well I'm not musically knowledgeable but I think Chris Carrabba is an incredible performer live. His ability to hold a note gives me goosebumps but I'm quite prepared to be told he's flawed - he's not trained AFAIK. He can be a bit cheesy as a performer too, much as I adore him, but I do rate his voice.
