When did you start finding greys?

I'm early 30s and starting to notice the odd grey strand, luckily mostly not obvious yet because it's underneath my still dark hair but I feel like I shouldn't be going grey yet! Tbh I feel like I've aged fifty years over the past one. I just want to go to the hairdresser's. :(

About 19. It was ok for about 5 years but in my mid 20s it went south. Hairdresser says I'm about 60-70 grey Confused Not so bad at the back but awful at the sides and top. I had really dark brown hair, if I didn't have greys I wouldn't colour it at all.
I am nowhere near ready to grow it out, I'm still in my 30s. I must admit it upsets me sometimes that less than 2 weeks after colouring I have visible roots.

Twospaniels · 25/02/2021 16:50

When I was about 51.
My mum is 81 and not fully grey, still some colour there.
My daughter is 26 and has had the odd grey hair here and there since she was about 5.

I’m 33 and fair haired - just in the last few weeks I’ve spotted 3 greys. Never noticed them before. Whinged to my friends about becoming a hag and got told off as they’d all started getting grey hair in their early 20s!

None yet. I'm 39 and have naturally dark hair which I have never coloured so I'm sure when it happens I'll spot them easily enough Grin

Ratonastick · 25/02/2021 17:09

I was 16 and I’ve dyed it ever since. Lockdown has been a revelation as I have it done every 4-5 weeks so rarely see more than a few mm of roots so had no idea that I was completely white now (I’m 53 so shouldn’t have been as much of a surprise as it was).

fluffysocksgoodbookwine · 25/02/2021 17:14

I was 28. I've dyed it since then, but stopped during first lockdown, and am now a sort of salt-and-pepper, with about 30% grey.

My mum was similar in her 40s. My dad didn't have any grey until he was well into his 50s. DH is just starting to get the odd couple of greys at 45.

I had a friend at school who was completely grey by the time he was 20. He said he much preferred it to the poor lads who got early male pattern baldness.

I agree that it's a shame that women feel such pressure to cover grey hair. I always thought I was prematurely grey, but lockdown has made me realise that I'm probably about average!

Stoppissingonmyheather · 25/02/2021 17:24

I have dyed blonde usually so don't notice but now gone brown and have realised my hair wants to be platinum blonde and have found a few very light platinum blonde hairs not grey just monroeesque ones I am 48

Holothane · 25/02/2021 17:27

I can’t wait to get more grey I’m happy about it started 35 I think.

BlueThursday · 25/02/2021 17:41

About 15. I was warned by my gran I’d go the same way as all the women in the family and I did!

CrazyCatMamma · 25/02/2021 17:42

I’m 46 and don’t have any grey yet

GintyMcGinty · 25/02/2021 17:47

45 for me.

kateybeth79 · 25/02/2021 17:53

Early 20s

BasiliskStare · 25/02/2021 17:57

@PurpleFadesToGreen - how utterly lovely

Scarby9 · 25/02/2021 18:01

I was late 20s, early 30s like you
BUT
I don't have many more grey hairs now at 59. There is a scattering, but my hair is otherwise the same dirtylight brown it has been since my early 20s. So it isn't necessarily a slippery slope from now on.

CormoranStrike · 25/02/2021 18:02

I was 14 - I am now 53 and completely white.

Bluewavescrashing · 25/02/2021 18:04

23-24. I'm now 36 and I've decided to embrace the salt and pepper look. My hair grows really fast and it's stressful when regrowth appears. Grombre all the way!

Firebird83 · 25/02/2021 18:09

30 and haven’t noticed any yet, but I have quite fair hair.

Tlollj · 25/02/2021 18:09
  1. Don’t have any. One of the benefits of being a red head. My mum just sort of faded. She’s 92 now and completely white.
PieInTheSky71 · 25/02/2021 18:12
  1. My 10 year old already has one grey hair! Shock
oohmyback · 25/02/2021 18:35

43 I have none. I fully appreciate how lucky I am!

BestZebbie · 25/02/2021 18:55

Occasionally one at a time from secondary school, but with years in between.
At 39 I now have about 20-30 hairs, enough to be too many to pull out but not enough to actually see unless you search for them. I have mid-to-dark brown hair (dark at the roots but naturally fades in the sun)

sunnydaleslayer · 25/02/2021 18:56

I'm mid thirties and have found a few odd strands.

My mum went grey at 17!!

Hoping I've inherited my dad's hair as he's only just started going grey at 60.

WildImaginings · 25/02/2021 19:01

Late 20's. I'm 30 now and I'm noticing them cropping up more and more frequently. They're noticeable.

FredaFlintstone · 25/02/2021 19:04

34 and only in the past year. I have one 'clump' of about 10 grey hairs right at the front, on top of my head. Nothing else...its like one tiny bit of my scalp just gave up 😂

InglouriousBasterd · 25/02/2021 19:05

After having DD at 26. Unfortunately have extremely dark hair so it’s extremely obvious!
