When did you start finding greys?

I'm early 30s and starting to notice the odd grey strand, luckily mostly not obvious yet because it's underneath my still dark hair but I feel like I shouldn't be going grey yet! Tbh I feel like I've aged fifty years over the past one. I just want to go to the hairdresser's. :(

32, within a couple of months of meeting my husband. Boy did he cop it 😁

BogRollBOGOF · 25/02/2021 13:49

Lockdown #1

I have found a stray one since 32, but could go long phases between spotting it. I have blonde on top and dark underneath and there is a difference between the grey and blonde (which are finer)

Suddenly in lockdown 1, I had about 5. A couple, I'd know where to find, but some seem to hace disappeared again.

I'm 40.

Early 30s.

Around 21, but I’ve got black hair.
I’m 34 now and the sides of my hair above my ears are completely white and everywhere else is salt and pepper.

Blibbyblobby · 25/02/2021 13:52

See, that's when I expected to start greying, even late 30s. It's all the more noticeable in dark hair too

Ha! That’s what I thought when I got noticeable amounts of grey in my early 30s.

I thought I was going prematurely grey but it turns out almost every other begger over 30 dyes their hair :)

I’m 48 now, no dye, dark blonde with white and steel stripes. I love it.

Treehops · 25/02/2021 14:17

29, when I was pregnant. Have noticed a bunch more lately (late 30s) - they seemed to pause for a while. None anywhere other than my head (I don't think!)

Treehops · 25/02/2021 14:17

I'd love a streak too. I wish they would organise themselves a little better!

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 25/02/2021 14:18

In my 30s. I only have around 5 grey hairs but my hair colour has changed from auburn to an ashy dark brown.

MumandnotMum · 25/02/2021 14:20
  1. 27 now and have lots.
LampsOn · 25/02/2021 14:24

Late 20s

Borntohula · 25/02/2021 14:34

Well, I'm very jealous of those of you who have not gone grey yet. For the rest of us who aren't quite ready to embrace it yet, roll on hair salons opening. Grin

Around 50. Late 50’s now and still barely any. Dark hair so what I do have I can spot.

Tenpintonpin · 25/02/2021 14:34

Late teens. Stopped colouring it last year, aged 45. Husband is the same age and has none. The more I've thought about it, the weirder it is that we don't simply expect some women to have grey hair from an early age, just like some men do. And that grey hair on women is considered unattractive and must be covered at all costs. It's all a bit of a misogynistic scam, I reckon.

ArchwayRoad · 25/02/2021 14:35

I've had a white streak since I was about 3! But I started noticing random white hairs from around age 27 (I have dark hair).

EachBleachBlairTrump · 25/02/2021 14:36

Not one until I had DS at 35... The two are almost definitely related

custardbear · 25/02/2021 14:38

I teased my big brother when he had a few grey hairs at 25 -
Found my first grey on my 25th birthday - how my brother laughed and laughed 😆

Me too, I think men are often described as 'distinguished' when they go grey young but on us, it's just 'ageing.' And yet, here i am, desperate to have my hair done.

23/24. Developed a large white streak at the front of my hair. I have dark hair so it was really noticeable. Quite a few people took the piss at the time and acted like it was so shocking to have some grey hair at that age. I've since realised it's not unusual at all. Wish it was talked about more instead of thought of as something that only happens once you are elderly!

Itsokthanks · 25/02/2021 14:46

The odd one from about 40. Late 40's now and it's easier to spot then in my fringe but nowhere near feeling the need to dye it.

Retrievemysanity · 25/02/2021 14:47

Late 20’s after my second pregnancy. I dyed it from age 30. I’m now 39 and have stopped dying it and new growth is all completely grey/silver. I do wish it was more socially acceptable for women to not dye their hair.

ZombeaArthur · 25/02/2021 14:47

I’m 37 and have coloured my hair my whole adult life, I haven’t seen my natural hair colour since my teens. I assumed I’d have some grey by now, but seeing my roots come through over the last year, I was really surprised to see not one grey hair.

BearSoFair · 25/02/2021 14:48

About 27/28. Mid 40s now and I have enough that they sometimes noticeably catch the light but not enough that I bother with dye!

ofwarren · 25/02/2021 14:48

After I had my last child at 36.
I have a smattering now and I don't dye it.
Quite a few are focused round one temple so I'm hoping for a stripe!

APJ1 · 25/02/2021 14:56

The very first one was at 18 and that was it until I got more at around 25.

LoveHeartHug · 25/02/2021 14:56

I'm nearly 40 and no grey hair on my head yet. I found my first grey hair on my chin last year.
