Can you register under a fake name on Facebook so you can see what is going on locally with home eddders? That way you will still retain privacy.

MrsEWeatherwax · 11/03/2021 17:11

We aren’t doing the lateral flow tests, DD’s won’t do tests and I’m not forcing, plus we can’t afford the lost of DH’s wage as we wouldn’t be entitled to the £500 payment. So selfishly we aren’t doing them. Not everyone gets paid full pay at home.
DD also had a medical appointment, and had wear her mask. She had a panic attack, first time ever. So I would prefer her to stay home learning if teachers don’t want her germ ridden person in school.( she hasn’t left house other than going for walk since beginning December).

bakingcupcakes · 11/03/2021 17:43

@Mrsfrumble

Ugh, that’s rubbish about burst bubbles. When it happened at our school before Christmas it was a lunch lady who was “patient zero” so it took out the whole school as everyone eats in the hall, except for a couple of teachers who ate in the staff room.
My friends DC school had loads of isolation thanks to 'lunch in the hall'. It's a 3 form entry so they keep separate bubbles for class but year groups eat together at lunch. Confused Consequently 1 child out of the year getting covid meant the year group sent home. I thought it totally defeated the object of separate classes and teachers.

@TheOrchidKiller I love the sign idea!

I watched one of the school mum's go past my house earlier taking isolated DC for a walk. Other people have so much more nerve than me.

I've booked a UK holiday for August. I thought it was expensive when I booked. It's now twice the price!

bakingcupcakes · 11/03/2021 17:45

@MrsEWeatherwax That's really concerning about DD not wanting to leave the house. What are we doing to young people. It's awful.

MrsEWeatherwax · 11/03/2021 17:54

@bakingcupcakes, I thinks it’s a combination of not being in school since December because of revision and not being allowed in shops as I have to shop alone. I think she was just overwhelmed, plus some man was really weird/inappropriate with her and he scared her at bus stop.
She use to be really chatty with people, but no more.

Does anyone know
T&T quarantine never got changed did it?

I would like to have my eye check - non urgent - but I don't want to risk two weeks indoors for that.

AcornAutumn · 11/03/2021 18:57

Re loss of social skills

Mine have vanished and I probably get more socialisation than most people at the moment!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 11/03/2021 19:00

@Worldgonecrazy
Proof of vaccine
Proof of negative Pcr test within 48 hours of flight (several companies offering this service)
Proof of COVID immunity / anti body test

That is exactly what they are looking to implement.

Regarding how you prove it, I have an app for my GP which I use to book appointments and prescriptions etc. There was a notice on there earlier stating we could also use it to show our vaccine status shortly.

You also get those little cards but I suppose they'd be easier to forge.....

I don't think it did but I think the likelihood of you being contacted by the opticians to isolate is very slim. They don't keep people in the room for more than 15mins now. Notes on records are made after you go out of the room. In mine I wasn't with anyone more than 15mins. And the numbers of people in store were low. No proper waiting area anymore. Everything wiped within an inch of it's life. Lots of masks.
AcornAutumn · 11/03/2021 19:51

Thanks baking but isn't there a different rule for those getting close to you?

Oo er.

Might ask on the C for Crazy board.

Police now trying to stop this going ahead.

Just read on another thread that the suspect may have used covid law to detain Sarah.

If he had, that may well cause a backlash, although it may be rather late by the time the legal system clarifies such a claim.

I find it sad every autumn when women runners avoid running in the dark and take up treadmills. I'm fortunate to live in an area where I feel safe alone, day and night. I wouldn't do that in all parts of town though. I have used an attack alarm for several years following a series of sexual assualts/ rapes by an offender in a couple of neighbourhoods too close for my liking. It turned out that one of my long routes was past the end of his road. He won't be back on the streets for a very long time, but you don't know who is out there with malicious intent. I feel safer trail running where the hazard is falls rather than preditory/ harassy humans, and being away from roads there isn't the white van man element.

When I was assaulted, I had all the blame culture thought processes... I'd been sleeping in underwear at a rather drunken house party. I couldn't consent to where those hands went when I was asleep and no matter how I behaved the night before with someone else (now DH), that was not an invitation to him. I'm glad I woke up when I did, and I'm glad my reaction was to fight and kick him hard in the face. It is very likely that he'd have continued to a more serious assault if I hadn't woken then. That kind of what was she wearing/ doing culture was a big barrier in taking any official action. I was 20, and quite bewildered by the experience. We settled for decorating him in a load of left over food and salad as he slept later. He knew what he'd done... he was never in contact with that group from that day.

This is another manifestation of the #metoo issue.
