I hope masks will go as soon as possible. I would so like to go out without feeling anxious and uncomfortable because I can’t wear one.

MercyBooth · 22/02/2021 20:15

I predict a backlash when people who end up on UC get put on the new "workfare" They will be pointing out that they didnt want to stop working........it was the Government who forced them to.

DWPmisery1972 · 22/02/2021 20:15

Checking in, trying to catch up on what I missed, loving that we have a tortoise mascot! Symbolic of the slow torture? Or of us slowly emerging from the horror? I can’t decide yet... Grin

Hope everyone is hanging in there, I have court tomorrow morning, so please think happy AD thoughts and GUILTY for my bastard STBEXH please everyone!

I missed the announcement but I’m trying to piece together what was said... schools back in March (will see what our school says I guess)... holidays from April... all sounds vague but kind of promising. Was talking to the other half and he lives in a seaside town and I just think if they miss another proper summer, the place is going to crumble and it’ll be utterly horrendous. The tourism industry needs a kick up the arse and doing that with internal holidays is surely the Easiest and safest way?! But what do I know eh.

Anyway peace and love everyone, love a new shiny thread!

MrsEWeatherwax · 22/02/2021 20:24

@MercyBooth that thread deserves more posts.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 22/02/2021 20:26

Good luck for tomorrow DWPMisery1972 I hope that he is found guilty, he deserves to be punished for what he did to you. My older brother lives in a seaside town and he says it has been so weird seeing somewhere that is normally bustling with people so quiet- like many seaside towns it is very poor so needs the tourist trade.

MercyBooth · 22/02/2021 20:26

YY @MrsEWeatherwax Thanks. Funny how EON isnt getting fined for forcing members of the public to break lockdown isnt it.

MercyBooth · 22/02/2021 20:27

Good luck @DWPmisery1972 Flowers

I keep veering from thinking that's quite a sensible road map which, and at least there's an end in sight, to thinking oh god its going to take AGES. Another 5 weeks before we can meet with more than 1 person outdoors and leave our local area, another 7 weeks before the hairdresser is even open, god knows how long before we can go and stay with people...

DWPmisery1972 · 22/02/2021 20:30

@smallandimperfectlyformed it’s bizarre being there even at this time of year and seeing it so quiet; when we used to take the kids we used to book a hotel just for the excitement and spend money in the beach shops/amusements etc. We didn’t need to but it made it feel like a proper holiday and it added to the fun you know? I really hope this summer is different.

His ex (so my step children’s mum) works in a niche organisation in the area and she is furloughed and struggling at the moment; I hope she can get back into work soon too. The whole thing is just a bloody shambles. I go back to work in Beginning of March after not being entitled to sick pay (classy!) so I’ll feel less useless.

DWPmisery1972 · 22/02/2021 20:33

@MaudesMum I can’t see people sticking to it religiously; people have had enough (I know I have). I think there’s only so long you can keep people trapped before they say enough and people are at that point. The government can’t keep back tracking and moving the goalposts as they see fit; we have to live with this, we have to live our lives, we can’t just hide away scared forever. Are they going to arrest every rule breaker? Nope.

MercyBooth · 22/02/2021 20:33

I saw a news item yesterday where there were groups of people out and about. Some were having a tug of war game on Hampstead Heath.

DWPmisery1972 · 22/02/2021 20:36

Thank you @MercyBooth ! I’m cacking it, both because I’ve never been a witness and also because I don’t quite know how I’m going to cope if it doesn’t go my way. Luckily other half is here to make sure I’m ok either way. I will keep you all updated; I don’t know how or when I’ll find out as I’m doing video link at home because of my injury but I will be ringing the court. God please, i need him to be found guilty. I need to close the book on this.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 22/02/2021 20:46

Thank you for the new thread. Awesome name as ever.

I'm watching the briefing on catch up. I am warming to Prof Chris Whitty. Good response to the question he got on schools.

Worldgonecrazy · 22/02/2021 20:48

@MaudesMum you can leave your local area if you’re in England. There is a very clear difference between law and guidance and there is no legal limit on how far you can travel.

justasking111 · 22/02/2021 20:49

Went to GP in September my problems stomach wise out of control, bless her she tried for two months, then said you need to see a consultant, I have private insurance so said so she wrote to them. Waited till December to see him. CT scan tonight. Five months in. How the heck will the NHS catch up when the private sector is struggling.

Was so weird having a CT scan in a lorry in the car park. The chaps said they were flat out covering n Wales and the North West different locations every day

justasking111 · 22/02/2021 20:56

@DWPmisery1972 good luck tomorrow Flowers

@DWPmisery1972 good luck for tomorrow. Take a deep breath and don’t be afraid to take your time before speaking.

Worldgonecrazy · 22/02/2021 21:02

Someone shared ONS figures on another thread that showed secretaries are at higher risk of covid infection than teachers 😀😀😀. Maybe I should start throwing a hissy fit about going back to the office?

Orangeblossom1977 · 22/02/2021 21:04

Checking in. I guess it's natural to feel anxious it won't happen because of the other times but things are hopefully different this time with the vaccine.

I've noticed the two main changes - April and June, correlate with the dates for over 50s all getting the jab and all adults getting it (hopefully) so as long as the vaccine plan goes ahead fingers crossed.

AZ have said they can supply enough by then so that is looking good.

AcornAutumn · 22/02/2021 21:07

Well, I had my vaccine

I should have stopped to think. Why did I volunteer to be ill? What happens to your sickness record if it's from the vax (not applicable to me as freelance).

It's so difficult. On the one hand, you could think yourself into crazy. On the other, I should have ignored the messages.

I wonder how big a pain it will be not to take the next dose?

I hope they don't shove it in with the flu vax though if I actually outlive mum, I guess I don't have to take that either.

Forgive me, rant over.

thenightsky · 22/02/2021 21:09

Marking place so I don't lose you all.
