Thought it was my turn to start a thread.

Yes a shell. Don't want to feel ungrateful for the weather but yesterday I felt lonely. I felt like I should've been happy but after a long bath I realised I was flippin' sad. I'm fed up. And no, the weather doesn't make everything OK. Although it feels nice on my face. It's a plaster over a bleeding wound.

I'm ok if I keep it real. The sun isn't enough to be cheery.

ISaySteadyOn · 06/03/2021 14:21

Yeah, I just feel so tired all the time.

Hey there fellow ADs, not been around for a bit so need to get caught up, but, just wanted to ask your opinions on a vital missing part of Bojos Road map?

When the actual fuck are we going to get testers back in cosmetics counters/depts?

My concealer has been discontinued and I've now had to buy 3 others by blind guessing how it's going to look on my skin by peeking at the shade through the tube or looking at the picture on the display and they've all been shit.

Thought I'd found the perfect one this morning only for it to turn orange on my skin.

Ffs I must be responsible for killing thousands of grannies on my frivolous trips to buy concealer. And I'm going to have to keep going....I feel like a bloody serial killer.

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 06/03/2021 14:34

I was going to post yesterday to ask if anyone else was tired. All I do just now is go to work and come home and I'm exhausted. I only work school hours and used to be so busy after school - mainly taking the DC places but stuff for myself too. I felt tired sometimes obviously but not this dreadful weariness. I'm not sure if it's boredom or a result of the constant low level anxiety. Probably both.

Ohnomoreno · 06/03/2021 14:36

@LivinLaVidaLoki that is definitely an essential question! Although have to say the idea of any make up seems really foreign. What's the point. I never see anyone and never will.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 06/03/2021 14:37

@MrsDeaconClaybourne and everyone else feeling constantly tired....
I feel you. I am bone achingly tired all the time. I've put it down to a lack of external stimulation. Every day is pretty much the same, so we aren't getting the same level of mental stimulation as we usually do.

TabbyStar · 06/03/2021 14:41

I'm really tired. Second day in a row I've had a lunchtime snooze! Went out for a long-ish walk this morning and it took me ages to warm up again.

I don't wear make-up, though Zoom has made me worry about my appearance, I look older and tireder (?) than I'd like to, but I did wonder how many women might decide that make-up is a hassle that they could do without. Ditto restricting clothing and less than comfortable shoes.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 06/03/2021 14:50

Well I dyed my hair and unfortunately also part of my forehead!Grin That will go soon enough I think. Irritatingly I managed to miss a part of my temples but I don't think it's very noticeable. I am like everyone else, bored and tired. Bumped into a couple of school mums when I went to the supermarket and we are all so looking forward to Monday to our children going back to school. I should really do some housework but can't be arsed quite frankly! I like living in a clean tidy house but wish that it stayed that way

2020BogOff · 06/03/2021 14:52

I haven't worn makeup for over 10 years at work. Occasionally throw a bit of eye powder and mascara on if I am going to a restaurant but it has to be an 'event' for me to bother.

I am too lazy in that department Grin

2020BogOff · 06/03/2021 14:55

Wooo hooo just booked a hair appointment. It's not for another 2 months but at least I can stop looking like a scarecrow for summer Grin

Orangeblossom1975 · 06/03/2021 15:02

Oh goodness just been reading the one on disinfecting groceries Shock

bakingcupcakes · 06/03/2021 15:06

I wear make up every day regardless of what we're not doing. It makes me feel brighter.

I'm not particularly tired but I don't think I've suffered like others have during this lockdown. It's been completely different to the first one. We've still had work and school. I'm lucky I have my bubble to see at weekends and we've continued to meet another non dementory friend outdoors for walks.

I disinfected my shopping once at the very start. It took 45mins and I felt it was a waste of my life.
MrsDeaconClaybourne · 06/03/2021 15:32

I disinfected a few times at the start Blush My natural laziness won out though. I also felt it was something that wasn't good for my MH and could have really increased anxiety/paranoia. For me it fits into the "you can't be too careful" mentality. I've always hated that phrase as of course you can be too careful if you if you let worry/anxiety stop you taking a rational approach to risk.

thefallthroughtheair · 06/03/2021 15:33

Nothing of any interest to say but just popping in to say hi. So lonely. Been for walks with friends but I try to avoid Covid conversations because I'm now obsessively anti lockdown and I don't want to fall out with people. And I can't see one of them again because last time she was wearing a mask. For a walk. I just lost any respect I'd ever had for her. Especially as she had wanted me to go to her house and it was me that suggested the walk because i wasn't confident about breaking the law in an area where I don't know what the neighbours are like. So we were outdoors and she was masked up even though she had wanted to meet indoors. Wtf. Everyone is thick as shit. And the police presence in my part of posh London is ludicrous. Vans circling green spaces as if we're all rioting rather than simply walking in 2s with a cup of overpriced coffee.

thefallthroughtheair · 06/03/2021 15:37

And as for the constant disinfecting and sanitising. Again, wtaf. We've known for years about the dangers of antibiotic-resistant diseases and the growth in the strength and prevalence of superbugs in hospitals. We're building up some pretty horrifying problems for our immune systems for the sake of one not very deadly virus.

TheOrchidKiller · 06/03/2021 16:21

When the actual fuck are we going to get testers back in cosmetics counters/depts?
Absolutely! It's ironic that we can't touch the lipstick inside Boots but we all have to touch the same hand gel pump at the door of Boots.

I've got serious procrastination syndrome. I could've fixed the hoover this morning but I keep putting it off, & have achieved nothing.

Having nothing to do slows me down. A day off in the old days would have me cramming in chores really fast so that I'd also have time to meet friends.

Orangeblossom1975 · 06/03/2021 17:09

Police here too patrolling the park, just people walking around. I don't like it. I too met a friend who wore a mask and started ranting about 'joggers' - who were miles away. She's had the vaccine as well...I found it stressful, worrying about does she think I should have a mask too etc

It's just not worth the stress sometimes. I think it is making people over anxious.

Iheartmysmart · 06/03/2021 17:13

Completely agree on the procrastination. Took yesterday off work to do some decorating but instead sat on the sofa watching rubbish on TV. Managed a few dog walks and did the dishes but that was it. I need deadlines to function like a grown up!

I’m pretty sure my slovenly ways are the reason I’m not ill very often. One of the outside playing in the dirt all the time generation. Eating a warm packed lunch with muddy hands because you couldn’t be bothered to walk home to wash them. No such thing as wet wipes in the 70s!

justasking111 · 06/03/2021 17:32

Lay on the bed after lunch crying. Grabbed car keys went to DILs had a good cry there, then chatted to them about it business proposal they're working on, called a contact I had and brainstorm with them so we did a group call. Was so good to use my brain and put my skills to use again, and help the family.

TheOrchidKiller · 06/03/2021 17:34

I’m pretty sure my slovenly ways are the reason I’m not ill very often.
Me too. Although having now stripped down the hoover I've discovered the reason for its poor performance is indeed my slovenly ways. It never occurred to me that the filters might need a wash. Yuk.

justasking111 · 06/03/2021 17:34

Re make up. I have never been so pale, so make up is the wrong shade because of this, think we need to bear this in mind. I looked like a ghost in the hall mirror the other day

TheOrchidKiller · 06/03/2021 17:35

Glad you got out @justasking111.
Hope you feel better this evening.

MercyBooth · 06/03/2021 17:40

I last wore make up on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Lipstick and a Sleek highlighter for some Christmas shimmer.

MercyBooth · 06/03/2021 17:45

Doug Saunders
@DougSaunders
A generation ago “You can’t catch AIDS from a toilet seat” was a message that took years of campaigning to get through to the public.

“You can’t catch COVID by walking unmasked on a sidewalk or sitting in a busy park” needs to catch on quicker

Totally agree with him. For me this conjured up an image of Chandler screaming at Joey in Friends............. GET THERE FASTER!!

As someone who has trained and done HIV outreach, I’m frustrated by the way that so many lessons from the fight against AIDS have been lost or ignored when it comes to COVID, particularly around harm reduction. It feels like public health is starting from scratch.
