Just head that Prince Charles has been to visit him in hospital due to ‘exceptional circumstances’. He’s never visited him in hospital before and apparently left looking emotional. It doesn’t look good does it? I wonder how this will play out given the pandemic?

Happy to do a link if I'm not berated for doing this on a PP thread.

By the way, no need to say 'catch yourself on'. I'm not rude to you. There's no need for sarcasm like that to me.

I think the Queen will find the Jubilee very hard with out him if anything happens to him.
Does the Jubilee get celebrated on basically the anniversary of her father's death Sador on the date of her coronation?

Number3BigCupOfTea · 03/03/2021 08:34

I wonder if they'll tell oprah that deals were struck between rf members and the press in exchange for sitting on certain stories. Leak a bit of tittle tattle here or there if you don't print xxxxx. Because it is astonishing how the press have just given up reporting on the fact that Andrew has not co-operated with the American police.

Never on the coronation (that wasn't until 1953, so would put it in to a different year). It's formally on the day of her accession, so yes it's the date of her father's death. And that's when the service of thanksgiving has been, and prob will happen if covid restrictions permit.

Other events are dotted through the year, often clustered around the Official Birthday in June

Stratfordplace · 03/03/2021 08:38

I think it is perfectly reasonable to assume the Oprah interview is ill-timed and will have a detrimental effect on PP and the Queen.

Meredithgrey1 · 03/03/2021 08:44

Is it astonishing? As appalling as the whole thing is, nothing new is happening in it. As you said, he’s not cooperated, but there’s only so many times you can write an article saying that before you are just re-printing the same article as the day before. The story would just be “he still hasn’t spoken to the police” day after day, and as important as that is, people wouldn’t continue to click on that article.

LoveYourUsername · 03/03/2021 08:56

@Roussette
I have not seen anyone say that H&M are the reason PP is in hospital.

What I have seen are posts saying you ought not to kick an old, ill man when he's down, by laying into his family who cannot (and never ever do) respond to offer the other side.

It's common decency. If your grandad was seriously ill, would you go to the local rag or on local TV and bleat about his family, in a critical way?

It's that which people are unhappy about.

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2021 09:00

It's not really comparable is it? Why would any of us commoners go on tv or talk to the newspapers about their family while our Grandad was in hospital?

It's weird because historically on MN and elsewhere nobody really has had a nice word to say about PP and now it's all sympathy and concern especially because H&M are involved.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 03/03/2021 09:00

At their ages though, you couldn't move. You'd be actually waiting for them to die so that you could x, y or z.

Like a pp says, H is just one of his grandchildren. He has 8. He has about 10 great grandchildren.

It's not impossible, is it? All sorts of people find themselves in the papers for all sorts of reasons, commoner or not. Suppose, for instance, Mary Farnsbarns gets into the local papers for doing something nice for local children, and has loads of people saying how great she is; her daughter, Jane Farnsbarns, gets pissed off because Mary is a lousy mother who doesn't give a shit about her own family and is heavily tempted to let the local papers know the truth; but she holds off because Mary's father is seriously ill.

You don't have to say those exact words but it is insinuated again and again on here. Apparently he's going to die of a broken heart because of them. That's been said.
And the DM are pre-emptively laying down this story ready.

Exactly that. News outlets publish news and this is no longer news. It’s not as if there’s been a shortage of real news and the media has had to cast around for material.

As long as Ghislaine Maxwell continues to protect him he’s safe. Who knows what will emerge from her trial? I guess that depends on how good a deal she’s offered in exchange for spilling the beans.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 03/03/2021 09:38

I think it'd be a good thing if they ran that story @Roussette. You know where i stand i think. Just that they took the titles, they are a bit self-pitying, they want to monetise their privacy and that they forget the ten years of bullshit the press gave kate and took it too personally, but if they ran a story to imply that their interview killed PP, i would think oh come on now, you cannot blame them for complaining about that headline!!

Number3BigCupOfTea · 03/03/2021 09:41

I think Meghan could be like "now you see!" if they ran a headline blaming PP''s death on the oprah interview.

stairway · 03/03/2021 09:44

I also think those of actual royal blood get treated better than those that marry into it by both the press and the country. Think itsto do with the royal mythology that they are a superior type of human being. We know this isn’t true but it is still stuck in our psyche.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 03/03/2021 09:47

True. You'd be mad to marry in to that crew.

SunbathingDragon · 03/03/2021 09:56

Philip is 99 and has had a heart problem for years as well as the likelihood of a variety of other ailments that typically affect men of his age. Considering all the bad press his family has had over the years (which started long before he was even born), I very much doubt this is anything out of the ordinary for him.

The press could understandably play on the angle of bad timing if he dies but it definitely won’t be the cause. If family fall outs killed people, we’d have a much smaller population worldwide! Grin

LoveYourUsername · 03/03/2021 10:07

Honestly @Roussette Grin

Talk about moving the goal posts!

You go from one outlandish claim to another.

NO one has said he is in hospital because of H&M.
No one has said he is going to die because of the TV prog.

What people have said is it is in poor taste to air a film like this when the D of E is seriously ill and his whole family are worried about his health.

There is a huge difference between that, and saying it's going to accelerate his death.

Decent people pull together in times like this, They don't throw a hand grenade (or their toys out of the pram.)

Roussette · 03/03/2021 10:12

No one has said he is going to die because of the TV prog

I have moved no goalposts. Someone said that. I now see a lot of deleted posts so presume it was one of those. There was even links to people dying of broken hearts and that he will too probably.

TheKeatingFive · 03/03/2021 10:16

NO one has said he is in hospital because of H&M.
No one has said he is going to die because of the TV prog.

A poster on here the other day posted a link about how people could die of broken hearts. She then said that she was ‘convinced’ that’s what was happening to Philip because of H&M’s actions. I’m not sure how much clearer you need?

What people have said is it is in poor taste to air a film like this when the D of E is seriously ill and his whole family are worried about his health.

What makes people think H&M can control international TV scheduling?

Roussette · 03/03/2021 10:20

Thank you Keating I thought I was going mad because I did a search for it.
It has been deleted. Quite rightly.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 03/03/2021 10:24

I wish they wouldnt delete posts. It's ridiculous. You cant see what was actually said.

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2021 10:25

That's the point though isn't it? So you can't see what was said?
Roussette · 03/03/2021 10:25

It was very unfair, untrue and wrong though.
