Prince Philip

Just head that Prince Charles has been to visit him in hospital due to ‘exceptional circumstances’. He’s never visited him in hospital before and apparently left looking emotional. It doesn’t look good does it? I wonder how this will play out given the pandemic?

Prince Williams body language when answering that his grandfather was " ok" says it all! He looks incredibly awkward and changed the subject immediately.

Give over, ‘incredibly awkward’ my arse Hmm

@PurpleRainDancer did you watch the news? His body language was awful!

Yes, he looked very uneasy.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/02/2021 21:23

It’s not a royalist/republican issue. It’s an old man who is ill

Even as a committed republican I totally agree; no matter what their position this is a human life, and it'll be a wrench for the Queen when he goes (assuming he does go first)

I just hope she's got some decent people around her to give any comfort she needs ...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/02/2021 21:28

Someone needs to write an!d publish a book on the husbands of reigning Queens of England and Scotland

Well, there's this: thehistoryjar.com/2020/03/27/consorts-of-english-monarchs-since-1066/

Granted it's not a book, but it's pretty handy as a source on "who to look up" for further reading

VinylDetective · 22/02/2021 22:28

@Clawdy

Yes, he looked very uneasy.
I’ve seldom seen anyone look so uncomfortable.
oneglassandpuzzled · 23/02/2021 09:09

Perhaps because he knows that at this age hospitalized elderly people’s conditions can change very rapidly. I have seen this with my parents. They are stable one day and the next day something can suddenly alter and there’s a crisis. He probably didn’t want to tempt fate.

EdithWeston · 23/02/2021 09:11

Yes, he looked very uneasy

The one I read described him as smiling and relaxed!

Just seen in my newsfeed that Prince Charles is visiting again today. Also that the Palace has did it will not be providing a daily commentary on his health but there would be an update soon

I've lost the article - anyone else see it, or did I imagine it?

SpringisSpinning · 23/02/2021 09:27

William was probably worried about letting personal info slip! They have to watch every single word.

PC did look emotional....

PretendSpeedGun · 23/02/2021 09:47

William look very uneasy when asked that question - he immediately touched his face and adjusted his mask when he was asked the question and as he answered. Increased hand-face touching is a sign of deception. I am not suggesting he was lying but was caught off guard and could not give an honest response and had to be very careful about what he could say.

I imagine the staff at the hospital were briefed not to ask about Philip but this question came from a photographer who is not going to be as compliant.

He was relaxed during the rest of the visit but during that one moment he was clearly uneasy.

Stratfordplace · 23/02/2021 10:53

I think William is very guarded and has a dislike of the press. He probably didn’t want to appear churlish so answered.

wewillmeetagain · 23/02/2021 12:52

@Stratfordplace i agree that he is always guarded and doesn't particularly like the press, however this was different. He looked genuinely uncomfortable and awkward.

Biscoffaddict · 23/02/2021 14:37

The Daily Mail seem to be doing a lot of hinting at the moment. I don’t think we are getting the full story at all.

I agree. Maybe there is ' D' notice on the story? Only heard about them on mumsnet before.
shggg245 · 23/02/2021 14:53

What's a D notice? I've not heard of that before.

AlternativePerspective · 23/02/2021 14:56

I reckon if he lives for another 3/6/12 months/more than that, when he dies people will say “I knew this was happening. Remember when Charles went to see him in the hospital?”

People seem desperate for him to die. And I’d hardly consider the Daily Mail to be a credible source, given their whole aim is to dig up as much dirt as they can on people, and when they can’t find any they make it up.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/02/2021 15:02

They always do ... otherwise known as "Oh hell, we need to fill the pages but don't have any facts to go on"

starrynight21 · 23/02/2021 15:02

@shggg245

A D notice is an agreement between the press and the government, where the press agree not to publish anything revealing about a particular matter. It isn't only applied to the Royals - it can be applied to various issues where publishing could endanger public safety.
Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/02/2021 15:18

The BBC have just announced that Philip has an "infection"

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2021 15:23

When Boris went into hospital last April someone on a thread mentioned the ' d' notice thing. That's how I heard of it , although it wasn't needed for him in the end.

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2021 15:24

An infection. Could be anything?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 23/02/2021 15:28

If he does have an infection, at his age you probably would expect him to be in hospital for at least a week (thinking about repeated times DM has been in hospital).

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2021 15:29

Might be a water infection but normally it is antibiotics and fluids and out of there!

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2021 15:42

The Mail said that someone asked Edward how his dad is doing and he said ' his a lot better ' could be old news ( it's low down the list of news items!)
