So what don't you have at home that others would find essential ?
I don't have a dishwasher or a tumble dryer. We also only have 1 tv in the family room.

We only got sky tv 3 years ago as we needed to change broadband and they had the best option locally, and the upgrade to include tv was very little. We had managed on free to air satellite channels and Netflix for years.

alwayshappensonnye · 16/02/2021 10:06

A slow cooker, even though all my friends rave about them.

Lovelydiscusfish · 16/02/2021 10:26
@Lovelydiscusfish - there was a recent thread about printers - bet you won't feel so bourgeois once you have one Grin - it is a funny thread if you can find it but in the meantime
This is hilarious - really cheered up my morning!

AgeLikeWine · 16/02/2021 10:37

A slow cooker.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 16/02/2021 10:57

No dish washer. No Alexa!

Norwaydidnthappen · 16/02/2021 11:27

I didn’t have a microwave until I moved in with my DH and he insisted we got one. I just never saw the need for one at all but now can’t imagine life without it.

Don’t own an ironing board, we never need to iron.

We have one 32 inch TV in the living room and don’t plan on having any others. We all have laptops so if we really need to watch something in bed we do that.

Norwaydidnthappen · 16/02/2021 11:27

We don’t have sky TV or similar, we watch everything on Netflix/catch up.
Never bothered with a slow cooker because we don’t eat meat.

KingscoteStaff · 16/02/2021 11:38

No Sky - just terrestrial.
No tumble drier.
No PlayStation or equivalent.
No Alexa.
No doorbell (just a knocker).

Elphame · 16/02/2021 11:40

I was like this but the newer slow cookers are much faster than the older ones and you can cook root vegetables in about 5 hours in my new one. It's got a metal liner in it as well so you can sauté off the spices and the onions before dumping it all in the machine.

It makes the most amazing dahls. I'm now a complete convert. I have a vegetable hot pot complete with dumplings planned for tonight - all from the slowcooker

MrsR87 · 16/02/2021 11:40

We don’t have a microwave.

user1471523870 · 16/02/2021 11:49

Electric kettle. We have an old school one!

BashfulClam · 16/02/2021 12:04

Tumble drier but I don’t want one.

Livinglavidalockdown · 16/02/2021 12:06

Due to lockdown - no car!

MegaClutterSlut · 16/02/2021 12:16

No dishwasher just because there's no room for one otherwise I'd buy one
Can't drive
No Savings

Devlesko · 16/02/2021 13:38

No subscriptions like netflix, sky, vigin.
No direct debits except household bills, no credit.
No ensuites, barbecues, trampoline, outside lighting or chiminea,

theliverpoolone · 16/02/2021 13:41

No microwave or slow cooker
No second loo
No BBQ
Only 1 smallish TV.

I have a combined washer/tumble dryer which is great, as I don't have room for a separate dryer. Would love a utility room!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 16/02/2021 13:41

A garden
An iron!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 16/02/2021 13:55

No dishwasher
No stairs
Tiny ground floor flat, live alone
And yes, a husband.. no need for a replacement I have a dog instead!

ChancesWhatChances · 16/02/2021 14:01

I’m not sure what other people class as essential, but I do know I have everything that is essential to my own family. If a tumble drier or a dishwasher isn’t essential to your family, why is it important that you don’t have one?

ginghamtablecloths · 16/02/2021 14:05

Only one telly

No dishwasher or tumble drier - kitchen too tiny

No garage or conservatory - would love these

No hosepipe for the back garden - have to use watering cans which is a bit of a faff

No Alexa or similar

kennypppppppp · 16/02/2021 14:10

microwave, alexa, coffee machine, bath, gamesy stuff like psp and a wii

Akire · 16/02/2021 14:11

I would very much like a dishwasher and a tumble dryer it would make my life very much easier. But tiny flat social housing so no hope of moving to anything bigger. It’s not a life style choice

Akire · 16/02/2021 14:13

That is totally different from someone who doesn’t have one because like to go wash dishes in stream at the end of garden to save water.

RaraRachael · 16/02/2021 14:17

Dishwasher
Garden
Downstairs toilet
Alexa
