Did you get anything for Valentines Day?

My DH ‘doesn’t believe’ in Valentine’s Day so we never exchange cards or presents. I should really stop trying to drop hints after 8 years Grin how about everyone else?

We did cards and little gifts. Clothes not anything cheesy.
He's had an afternoon tea box delivered for lunch and I got us a dine in meal for tonight.

MountainDweller · 14/02/2021 12:07

We usually do cards but but forgot this year, as there are fewer chances to buy them (DH is WFH and we live in a quiet place, no corner shop). We don't do presents as our birthdays are Jan and Feb and we're out of ideas! DH is making a cake (repeat of my birthday cake as it was so good!) and I'll do a roast later.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/02/2021 12:08

I got dh a card and 3 bars of chocolate.
He gave me 2 boxes of Black Magic (my favourites), no card since he couldn’t find a non cringey one. (Small boxes of BM since he couldn’t find a big one.)

Since I happen to have the wherewithal I shall make one of his favourites for dinner - nowt fancy, just a cauliflower/macaroni cheese combo. And possibly a pudding, which we hardly ever have. There are 2 tins of black cherries in the cupboard so a clafoutis may be on the cards.

We gave cards each, I got a cup of tea in bed and we had a “posh” takeaway last night which was lovely. At the same time I picked up fish and chips for the kids so it wasn’t the most romantic of dinners. We’ll have roast beef with all the trimmings tonight as a family.

Sceptre86 · 14/02/2021 12:10

Yep. Dh could either take it or levlave it tbh but I enjoy it so he makes an effort. I got beautiful roses and a lovely breakfast. He has bought me earrings and a necklace and paid for a dinner platter from the caterers that made or wedding food.

The kids and I have made heart shaped cookies and I got him some new boots and jeans.

My dh is thoughtful all year around though so this is just the icing on the cake.

IloveFebruary · 14/02/2021 12:11

My DH got me 3 boxes of chocolates. I think I may have overdone the hints.

latheritup · 14/02/2021 12:12

Roses & posh donuts Grin

Dyinghouseplant · 14/02/2021 12:13

Card and chocolates. I gave him a card and chocolates. Takeaway and cocktails tonight.

SimonJT · 14/02/2021 12:13

Yes I got a new knife sharpener and a Squirtle plushie. Very pleased with both of those.

He also bought a ‘joint’ present, it’s a kit to make a mould of a certain part of your body, so its a present for him. I have said I’ll do it later, but I’m scared it will go wrong and I’ll have to waddle along to A&E with a weird excuse. The joint present I bought was a board game, we have slightly different ideas about fun!

CKL987 · 14/02/2021 12:17

No. Been together 12 years and never do anything. It's a load of bollocks imo.

LindaEllen · 14/02/2021 12:19

We don't buy each other anything, but we will usually go out for a meal - tonight we're cooking steaks together at home instead, but we plan on getting dressed up .. if I can find anything that fits me haha.

I won't do anything OTT for the day as I do think it's money grabbing, but at the same time DP and I do like to at least have a nice meal, so it's not completely unmarked.

Littlefluffyclouds13 · 14/02/2021 12:22

We would normally do just a card, dh is a designer so often makes me one.
We're currently living separately because of covid so we've both upped our game this year as we're missing each other so much!
I received some beautiful flowers yesterday and a gorgeous card and apparently have another pressie too GrinGrin

RubyFakeLips · 14/02/2021 12:22

M&S Love Sausage! Although I don’t eat pork so DH actually bought this knowing full well it was for him and DC. We’ve been together over 20 years, we always celebrate as we love to celebrate anything, being happily together for that long IS wonderful. Got a card with a filthy Limerick, some chocs and some posh pjs I have been coveting.

@SquishySquirmy I am your 7 year old well into adulthood. I take any special day I can find seriously. I too was clattering around this morning making a heart shaped breakfast for all my DC who are now as jaded by my enthusiasm as I expect you will be in 10 years, I never grew out of it!

crystalpaula · 14/02/2021 12:23

Flowers, chocolates, wine. We don't go all out on it but like to get each other a little gift.

MerlinsSaggyLeftTit · 14/02/2021 12:23

He left a bunch of flowers, a box of Lindor and a bottle of gin on the kitchen island but hasn't actually mentioned them. The only things we have spoken about this morning have been tidying the DCs bedroom and shampooing the carpet at the bottom of the stairs.

BallsToYouSue · 14/02/2021 12:26

He got me a card, some chocolate and nice stuff for dinner last night and for roast dinner today.

I got him a card, much nicer chocolates, which I might nab a couple of, and a bottle of champagne.

We have always celebrated it. We've been together since we were 21 and married for almost 10 years and always get each other something, but never an awful lot.

Inextremis · 14/02/2021 12:27

We've been together for 25 years, married for 19 - we've exchanged cards - which were very similar in style (aww!) - and I'm cooking steak for us later, which we'll have with the bottle of wine he got yesterday. Romance is not dead - I love him loads, and it's nice to have an opportunity to show it :)

Kokosrieksts · 14/02/2021 12:33

My husband asked me yesterday to remind him whether we did Valentine’s Day 😂 I said there’s never too much chocolate or flowers. So he got me flowers and I got him chocolate. We will cuddle up on the sofa and watch a film later.

Trinacham · 14/02/2021 12:39

I do drop hints, as my DH does say what's the point. I let him know that I expect just a card and a little present (nothing expensive as I'm tight.. but like a bar of chocolate) and so he does. I do the same for him.

ChristmasinJune · 14/02/2021 12:40

I'm single so no, but I'm getting a vaccine at 4pm which is the best present I could hope for!!

GreyFrenchique · 14/02/2021 12:41

I got roses and a card from DH, also I have a present being delivered later. Not sure what it is yet.

He also bought me a sweet key ring from our DS who is autistic, saying "I am your heart and you are my voice"

I got DH a pair of nice jeans and a card (he's not into chocolates and things like that)

We're having an Indian later on and a couple of drinks.

I'm not fussed about Valentine's day generally but DH is.

ThatDoesntBelongInAIBU · 14/02/2021 12:43

Expected sweet f.a. got sweet f.a.!

pursuedbyablackdog · 14/02/2021 14:17

DH don't normally bother with Valentine's Day, however dc made brought us breakfast in bed this morning coz they luffs usGrin
The state of the kitchen, after their 'creativity', did make me want to cry though! 😬😂

ODFOx · 14/02/2021 15:51

We did cards. I got him some of his favourite chocolate bars and he got me a book.
I made him steak and eggs for breakfast and we'll have lasagne ( his favourite) for dinner. Otherwise a lazy day: watched a movie, walk round the block. And a joint day off housework as we rushed to do it yesterday. Lovely!
