Did you get anything for Valentines Day?

My DH ‘doesn’t believe’ in Valentine’s Day so we never exchange cards or presents. I should really stop trying to drop hints after 8 years Grin how about everyone else?

OP posts:
AlwaysLatte · 14/02/2021 10:26

Yes, some trees and rose bush from me, and a cake.
Bamboo bath rack with wine glass holder etc, English bubbly and some gardening books from him ♥️
It is sometimes hard to think of things though, being just after Christmas with a birthday in between (especially with everything shut!)

TroysMammy · 14/02/2021 10:26

AnneLovesGilbert yes after the pheasant, microwave pudding and custard. Perhaps he'll also wash up, dry and put the dishes away instead of letting them soak and drain. That would be extremely special. Grin

BunnyRuddington · 14/02/2021 10:27

Yes I got a bar of a chocolate that I really like and a card. I was really happy until o read what Mrbob got Grin

I bought DH a card and pk of monster munch, he bought me card + bubbly 🍾 owers married 27 years together 36. Not big into bday or cmas just but always mark the day

LadyCatStark · 14/02/2021 10:29

We never bother with Valentine’s Day but if Facebook is anything to go by, I should have bought a pile of presents and sweets for DS 🤷‍♀️.

NotABridezillaToBe · 14/02/2021 10:29

I didn’t even know it was Valentine’s Day today. We don’t do it and I would feel a bit silly celebrating it honestly. I did with boyfriends when I was younger but I don’t see the point now. I don’t judge people who do though, we’re all different. I probably do other things those people think are ridiculous.

ZackaryQuack · 14/02/2021 10:31

Does ds being sick all over his cot count 🤣

Dh got me nothing and I made him a coffee in bed after he cleaned the cot and put the bedding in the washing machine while I washed ds.

Last of the romantics here 😂

nowbringmethathorizon · 14/02/2021 10:32

I got a card and some chocolates I like and I got him the same. We know it's commercialised nonsense but there's bugger all else that's enjoyable in the world right now and any excuse for buying chocolate is fine by me!

NeverWillIEver · 14/02/2021 10:32

Only been with DP 2 years and we have never done Valentines day.

With exes I've only ever exchanged cards.

CarlottaValdez · 14/02/2021 10:33

I got a card from my 6 year old and some flowers from DH, I got them both some chocolates.

Megan2018 · 14/02/2021 10:35

We do cards, I got flowers (not expensive ones, we are skint) and I got him a bottle of red and we have a box of nice chocs to share.
We don’t make a big deal but it’s nice to mark it too (married almost 7 years).

Whitecup4 · 14/02/2021 10:36

We’ve postponed Valentine’s this year until lock down is restricted when we will go for a nice meal and a weekend away. A night in a hotel sounds like heaven right now!!

TillyTopper · 14/02/2021 10:39

Yes! I got 2 lovely books, Orlando Figes' Natasha's Dance and An Yu's Braised Pork and a card covered in past holiday pics. I got DP Hotel Chocolat chocs in a big red heart box and a homemade card covered in red and pink hearts. We've been together 26 years but still celebrate the day.

ParkheadParadise · 14/02/2021 10:40

@LadyCatStark
My niece messaged me last night to ask if I wanted a balloon for dd (5)?
This morning she's posting pictures of her 2 kids with all their Valentines gifts. WTF
We did cards, I got DH a bottle of rum he got me an afternoon tea that has just been delivered. Dd got nothing 😂😂 although she is eyeing up a mini chocolate eclair.

Rooroobear · 14/02/2021 10:44

I got my breakfast made for me with a lovely cuppa....by my beautiful kids. Perfect valentines for me! Happy Valentine’s Day to all you lovely mumsnetters ❤️

Outbutnotoutout · 14/02/2021 10:44

I had a bouquet of flowers 💐 and two cards, one funny and one with GF on.

I bought him a card and some aftershave.

Outbutnotoutout · 14/02/2021 10:45

Oh and bacon sandwiches and a cuppa in bed

trappedsincesundaymorn · 14/02/2021 10:45

I got a cup of coffee and a slice of toast. He was making some for himself and asked if I wanted some. Not sure that counts though because it happens every Sunday.

Mumof2bears · 14/02/2021 10:47

Cute box of chocolates and nice card from DH, and the M&S 'dine in' deal for dinner this evening before an early night Wink. Same type of celebration as every other year, in a good way Smile. I maintain that it's nice to have a couple of special days each year (the second one being our wedding anniversary) to focus a bit more on our relationship without feeling the need to buy big presents etc. unless one of us spots something in particular that the other one would like. Everyday life as working parents could lead to us losing sight of our relationship with each other, especially this year when we've been living and working together much more than normal.

Spillanelle · 14/02/2021 10:49

We do cards and make an effort to have some really nice food. This year we’re having an Afternoon Tea delivery. We don’t bother with gifts, each to their own though.
I know MN typically sneers at anyone crass enough to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but I think it’s just a good excuse to do something nice together.

oiwiththepoodlesalready83 · 14/02/2021 10:51

We’ve exchanged cards and DH brought me some flowers. I’ve actually made an effort, put on some make up and a nice outfit. Our 16 month old DS is now at his Nans (she’s in our bubble) so we can enjoy a few hours by ourselves, eat our M&S lunch and maybe some quality time if we don’t fall asleep 😂.

Chimeraforce · 14/02/2021 10:52

He ordered me some tops as probably worried about me living in pj's and lumberjack shirt.
I gave him a card and dress up sex and we're having steak on the BBQ 👍

Oldraver · 14/02/2021 10:52

I got some Darn Tough Merino socks and have an Alpaca hat on the way

I bought OH a Danny Baker book he wouldn't buy at full price, only for him to say he ordered a second hand one

Fiona2020 · 14/02/2021 10:53

I got a personalised purse and some roses but he forgot a card (I’ll forgive him as we have been isolating!)

He got beer, choc, leather gloves and a card :)

M&S deal for tonight when he’s dropped the kids back!

Bluntness100 · 14/02/2021 10:58

No. But my daughter got a dozen red roses and a heart shaped box of chocolate truffles delivered this morning and a bottle of perfume which came earlier ans she’s just opened. I’m a bit jealous to be honest. 😂
