Did you get anything for Valentines Day?

My DH ‘doesn’t believe’ in Valentine’s Day so we never exchange cards or presents. I should really stop trying to drop hints after 8 years Grin how about everyone else?

A Chinese from M&S for lunch so no. I got him a funny card as I do every year- this year gavin and stacey. We don't overly celebrate it as prefer to make our anniversaries (we celebrate 2).

Stompythedinosaur · 14/02/2021 11:26

Yes, I got a new board game, which is an excellent gift imo. Dp has informed me it is romantic as it's a collaborative game.

SendMeHome · 14/02/2021 11:27

We don’t usually do anything but DH thought I’d need cheering up this year; so he’s made one of our favourite breakfasts and ordered in some delicious food for dinner, and he’s bought me some new loungewear and a dress.

I feel a bit bad, I got him a card but didn’t realise we were doing more than normal!

We dont do anything, but your thread reminded me to say happy valentines day to him 😀

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 14/02/2021 11:29

Oooo i lie

We usually have a nice tea, and i might make him watch My Bloody Valentine which in theory is a valentines day film

ImInStealthMode · 14/02/2021 11:30

Should add really, in return I got him a takeaway of 8 portions of his favourite cocktail from our favourite bar, plus glass and fancy ice cube moulds.

Later we're off to pick up afternoon tea from the hotel that we should have been staycationing at this weekend! (Stupid Covid Angry)

knittingaddict · 14/02/2021 11:32

It's a made up day, so neither of us do Valentines.

Haven't had flowers since March last year though, so I'm long overdue a random bunch.

JurassicShay · 14/02/2021 11:32

Not yet as he's asleep still Shock
But when he wakes I'll get the stack of scratch cards I asked for Grin & he will get a CD plus the pork stacks I chucked the the slow cooker early this morning.

Dollywilde · 14/02/2021 11:32

We do cards and would usually use it as an excuse to go out to dinner on the nearest weekend, but between lockdown and having a 6 month old a romantic dinner is pretty out of the question! DH broke our tradition of no presents in light of the above and gave me a card game about inspirational women and a book of poetry which he knew I’d love which has melted my heart a little bit. He said he wanted to mark it for a change as I brought DD into the world since last Valentine’s and it’s been so tough with covid restrictions. Bless him - he’s a good ‘un.

ChangedName4TheSakeOfIt · 14/02/2021 11:33

We celebrate it but only as an excuse to buy each other a gift. DH needed a new Xbox controller so I surprised him with one for today. (Slightly self serving too because I don't like anyone using mine. It's a limited edition one and they don't make that one anymore!) and DH buys me my fave chocolates and flowers. He does this a lot but it's a guarantee on Valentine's.

I wouldn't be upset if we didn't though. It doesn't have any real significance to us.

LesCuriousCat · 14/02/2021 11:34

We don't really do cards and some valentines we don't bother at all. It just depends what's going on each year tbh.

This year, maybe due to lockdown, we've made a little extra effort.

He bought me some new makeup. I bought some lingerie and new sex toy which arrived earlier this week but I've put aside for tonight.

We'll cook a nice meal together later once the DC are in bed. It'll be something we don't often have so I'm quite excited!

Wingingitsince2018 · 14/02/2021 11:38

I recieved a card and a breakfast of crepes (my favourite). Was truly a surprise as after 7 years we have never got or done anything!

TwirpingBird · 14/02/2021 11:39

My DH made me a gorgeous 3 course meal last night, and I got up with both DDs (3 months and 2 years) this morning so he could have a lie in and made him a sausage sandwich for breakfast. It was nice to do something for each other. I usually ignore valentines day.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 14/02/2021 11:42

Flowers,roses and a soft toy. He's making breakfast now.Grin

Luckyelephant1 · 14/02/2021 11:42

Exchanged cards and he got me some Freddos as those are the chocs I always ask him to get me if he nips out for milk or wherever 😂 and we'll have a nice dinner later. I think he has done flowers a couple of years which is always nice but we're both not that fussed, find the whole thing cheesy and contrived.

Cookies2523 · 14/02/2021 11:43

Today is my birthday so Valentines Day kind of goes on the back burner. However, my husband & i exchange cards.

citychick · 14/02/2021 11:45

No. Nothing.

Went for a walk, stopped for lunch. Thanks to covid19 we're on gatherings of two. So DH and DC had lunch and I bought a coke and sat elsewhere and read my book. I thought it's okay I'll have the left over pasta Bolognese when we get home.
Got home to find DH ate it before bed last night.

Not in UK , our weather is warm. DH is on my shit list. 😑

inappropriateraspberry · 14/02/2021 11:46

I got a card and some chocolates. I got him a card and he's just had a bouquet of sausage rolls delivered! Guess what we're all having for lunch. 😆
We had a nice cooked breakfast as a family, going paint shopping this afternoon, then he'll cook roast dinner this evening, as usual.

DoodleLovin · 14/02/2021 11:47

Always get flowers and card. This year got chocolates too and a NEW TOASTER! And a heart shaped pancake 😊

bluebellation · 14/02/2021 11:54

We don't normally do anything but seeing as every day is groundhog day, we're cooking a 3 course dinner tonight with a bottle of fizz, and I might even paint my nails 🙂

Dilbertian · 14/02/2021 11:55

For the last 20 years dh has given me a card and I have hidden chocolate hearts somewhere where he will find them during the day.

Nothing fancy. Just sweet.

misskatamari · 14/02/2021 11:56

No, we don't "do" Valentine's Day and never have. I think a couple of years ago dh did actually buy me some wine and chocs on his way home from work and I was like 😱 "whoah is this cos it's Valentine's Day?" Bless him, that was sweet. But no, we just do nice stuff throughout the year and don't celebrate VD. Might bake some heart shaped shortbread with the kids later, and I'm treating us all to a full English for tea tonight 😄 so that's the extent of any celebration here

stillonthattightrope · 14/02/2021 12:00

I got a card, (supermarket) flowers and chocolates. I got him a card.
Nothing fancy and we always do cards but neither of us is really bothered.
I take it as an opportunity to make a bit more of a fuss but we don't need v day.

Generally we don't go out for meals anyway as we can't be arsed with all the forced romance, set menus and bad booze.

unmarkedbythat · 14/02/2021 12:02

No, we agreed we didn't want to.

HeadNorth · 14/02/2021 12:04

Card, chocs, gin, sex. Perfect. I baked him a cake - our 31st Valentine’s Day, lovely.
