Aside from the slightly acquired decorative taste... wtf is with them sneaking their tea set (or part of it) into as many pictures as possible? Grin bonus points when it’s photographed with muffins or a cheese board...

Truly hideous. If I had £700k there’s no way I’d spend it on a house in Wakefield

EmbarrassingMama · 13/02/2021 23:36

What’s going on with the window dressing in the hallway?! At first I thought two ores had been used...

Looks like the set of a Jonathan Creek episode.

DontFuckItUp · 13/02/2021 23:39

That landing made my eyes bleed. And curtains in a bathroom? Shock
Beautiful from the outside though? Is it in Wakefield?

PurpleFadesToGreen · 13/02/2021 23:39

It's very...orange.

Fab building, you'd need ££££ to strip it back though.

bigpricklyfern · 13/02/2021 23:44

@orangenasturtium

This is not just staging, this is M&S staging...

I think first place for photobombing goes to the pair of scented candles, not the tea set, with the vase of long stemmed roses in third. Honourable mentions go the the pair of tea light lanterns and succulents.

The port is branded as M&S but the cheese board also looks like their Christmas selection, the lanterns, candles and plants (I recognise the pots) are definitely M&S... I think someone ran into the local store and grabbed an armful of props.

I’m pretty sure the tray is from IKEA too...
sakuramiyagi · 13/02/2021 23:45

They should have trimmed the wick on that candle, it will leave hellish smoke stains on their wallpaper, which would be unfortunate 🤣

Onlinedilema · 13/02/2021 23:50

Stunning house.
Perhaps the owners have shares in Royal Dolton, or Mr Kiplins.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 13/02/2021 23:50

50% beautiful, 50% spirits living in the walls ready to murder you in your sleep Shock

margottenenbaum11 · 13/02/2021 23:52

Why is Margaret Thatcher in the fireplace in picture 29?

Such a nice house from the outside, but the decor....dear lord

DishingOutDone · 13/02/2021 23:57

Its v. orange. The 4th bedroom is a cupboard no way would anyone in their right mind want to put a bed in there. The couple in the garden are having tea and muffins, whether they like it or not. And why is it the same muffins just moving around the house?

twoglassesofprosecco · 13/02/2021 23:59

So many objects wandering around the rooms!

Plant pots, tea set, candles, vase of flowers...

hadtojoin · 14/02/2021 00:00

The candle/s seem to move about a lot too.

Apart from the "interestng" decor! The grumpy portrait in the bedroom fireplace is so funny and characterful! Although this decor is not to my liking, this looks like a HOME and it looks INVITING and WELCOMING because these people obviously know a thing or two about Home Staging! The tea set, biscuits etc make it feel homely! Also massive bonus points for the cafetiere and fresh looking cakes, wonderful fresh flowers, candles and pot plants!

OP on the other post "Why isn't my home selling " could learn from some of these home staging tips.

It's actually a stunning property, just the decor needs an update. It wins by it's action shots of home life.

PatriciaHolm · 14/02/2021 00:06

@InsaneLockdowner

I'm also concerned that there's a touch of 1980s stylee Poirot going on in one of the bathrooms!
Pierrot.

Not Poirot.

That is not a short tempered, mustachioed Belgian.

;-)

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2021 00:08

The floorplan is always the first thing I look at with a house, and it really appeals to me. The outside of the house is gorgeous. But that decor! I'm normally quite good at visualising how a house would look done to my own taste, but it's so cluttered with all that fabric and stuff that I'm struggling to get past it.

Nightfeedwatcher · 14/02/2021 00:08

What if we’re all wrong and they happen to have multiple identical China sets and hundreds of muffins laying around the house?

DNHandTNS · 14/02/2021 00:14

I think if you can afford a house that size and if it was used as a B&B at one time, you might have a lot of china tbh

DumplingsAndStew · 14/02/2021 00:20

Does the floor plan show a stair case from the downstairs study to the 1st floor bathroom?

DNHandTNS · 14/02/2021 00:34

Wow, that bath! It has water jets so is probably a jacuzzi, but also looks like a solarium above it. Fancy!

I wonder what's in the tower and if the couple on the bench are the couple who own the house currently?

It's truly lovely but way too big for me and I don't love housework enough to cope with something like this. Also I don't have 700k burning a hole in my pocket.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 14/02/2021 00:52

Brilliant tea tray photo shoot 😂😂😂😂

Exhausteddog · 14/02/2021 07:20

The decor reminds me of a Sindy house I had in the 1980s! Grin
Yes I noticed the (fold out?) tanning bed above the bath.
Also disappointed that no one balanced a cake on the statue in the garden - it looks doable.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/02/2021 08:08

@2018SoFarSoGreat
That's an original thought.
Whenever we've looked a potential property 'What if we get fleas' has never been on our checklist!
Grin

I pity the poor photographer's assistant, having to stagger around the house with the tea tray, vase of flowers, candles and pot plants and arrange them artfully in all the rooms. Given that the house isn't exactly minimalist, you do have to wonder what they thought it would all add.

Although it's relatively cheap, I'd worry about the cost of upkeep, and it would need a lot spent on it to redo the kitchen and bathrooms and refurbish generally.

purpledagger · 14/02/2021 11:08

Maybe that tea set is 'royal doulton with hand painted periwinkles', so Mrs Bucket needs it in every shot.

RhubarbTea · 14/02/2021 11:22

@doodlejump1980

Definitely haunted. Nope
I KNOW, right?! Quite clearly haunted. Looked at the first photo coupled with the name of the location and thought, 'that place is evil. NOPE'.

Loving the tea set though. Gutted they didn't balance it on the lap of the garden statues and put it on the roof for the aerial photo. Grin
