I don’t think the copyright issue is resolved yet .

strawberriesontheNeva · 11/02/2021 21:47

Good on her

SqeakyHindge · 11/02/2021 21:51

This a good thing!

Esp if puts the breaks in media doing this to others.

If I was famous or anything won’t take much cash to get one of my own family to sell my soul.

I am pleased for her, but it won't stop the vile tabloid rags writing their shit about her - too many sad acts lap it up, so it sells papers and drives clicks. I don't blame her and Harry for getting the hell out.

Mummy195 · 11/02/2021 21:55

Good !

Surprised it lasted this long.

"There seems to be some confusion online about today’s outcome. The ruling was an all-out win on copyright AND privacy for DOS. The next hearing is to simply determine damages and the only trial that could happen would be if someone claims they’re entitled to a portion of damages."

Roussette · 11/02/2021 21:58

Yep. And they'll up their game now and target her even more with clickbait.
The DM/MoS are rags

medebourne · 11/02/2021 22:03

It's great that she has won the privacy case. Great for her and great for all of us because it's a warning the gutter press.

I am puzzled by the copyright case though. When I read about this initially I assumed the dispute was whether it was MM or her father who owned the copyright of the letter. It's not that though. The dispute is whether MM or her secretary own copyright because MM didn't actually write the letter by herself.

I find this really strange. Of course really busy people like her have staff to write letters, but not to their own parent surely, especially if it's an emotional letter.

Souther · 11/02/2021 22:11

@Roussette

It was a personal and private letter and an invasion of her privacy. And the Judge ruled in her favour saying exactly this.

The next stage is to decide damages which she is giving to an anti-bullying charity, so the DM's money is going to that. Win win.

But it wasnt a private letter. She told her 'four friends ' about it and they leaked some of the contents. Her father then leaked the actual letter to dispute what her friends had said. Her friends leaked some of the contents first. How is that not a breach of her privacy. If she told her friends about it. And then it's in a magazine, with her blessings how private does she think it will stay?
ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 11/02/2021 22:14

Do we need to know the details of her dysfunction family? Apparently some of her relatives are publishing books soon anyway! She has much historical and ongoing baggage to be dropped on media soon anyway.

Perhaps they should all get along and play nicely and not continue to live retrospectively. She is supposed to behave according to British royal family norms not run away with royal family members and be hostile to family etc. Not very ideal family role model.

Roussette · 11/02/2021 22:15

I am just repeating what Justice Warby said ... it is what he ruled. His words.

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/02/2021 22:18

She's won the bit that counts and won it very decisively.

I'm very happy, I think she's great.

Roussette · 11/02/2021 22:18

Not be with her husband do you mean? They made a decision together.
Good on them.
Great she won this case too. And that the damages will go to an anti bullying charity. Ironic, given how bullying the DM/Mos are.
Divine retribution.

DaveCoaches · 11/02/2021 22:20

I am pleased for her. Nice to see you Roussette .

yvanka · 11/02/2021 22:22

Souther Just because you tell your friends about something doesn't stop it from being private. If I told my friends that I'd made a sex tape, does that mean it can be put on the internet without my consent?

Gooseysgirl · 11/02/2021 22:23

Good for MM!

Roussette · 11/02/2021 22:23

Hiya DaveCoaches long time no see! 😃

Elderflower14 · 11/02/2021 22:27

Her father was an utter shit to sell that letter... I'm not a huge DOS fan but I'm glad that she won!

Samcro · 11/02/2021 22:29

Why should she play nicely with her awful family. They are like leeches.
Glad its looking good for her.

BeakyWinder · 11/02/2021 22:31

@Squarepigeon

Imagine if they paid such close attention to Prince Andrew’s personal correspondence ...
Exactly.
duckalemon · 11/02/2021 22:33

Good

Vile filthy rag

Why do people read it? It makes my blood boil

And her father is a disgusting human too

DaveCoaches · 11/02/2021 22:34

Grin Roussette

I wonder if that bonds them together, both having bonkers families?

Roussette · 11/02/2021 22:50

Oh yes, DaveC it's bound to without doubt. Shared but different experiences

catwithflowers · 11/02/2021 22:57

Pleased to hear this

veeeeh · 11/02/2021 23:01

Who actually gives a fk ?

derxa · 11/02/2021 23:03

I don't like her and I never will. She won this case and let's move on.
