What's goes with steak?

We always have mushrooms and chips.
But I'd like to do something fancy because life sucks.

What's a couple of good sides?

Sliced mushrooms cooked in butter and garlic, add a load of spinach, then cream cheese. Lots of.

I'm having celeriac chips and garlic mushrooms with mine tonight but my favourite is blue cheese on top.

We had steak with truffle mash, mushrooms, backed carrots and port gravy this week. It was luxurious, warming comfort food.☺

I always have it with chestnut mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, chips and loads of English mustard. If it's a good quality steak you don't want to drown in in sauce

Roquefort cheese tastes AMAZING on top of a rare steak.

Yes! And you can make a sauce using creme fraiche and garlic!

I absolutely love leeks in stilton sauce with steak.

Noodles and stir fried vegetables. Yum.

Sweet potato wedges.

Asparagus wrapped in bacon.

Stir fried veg.

Salsa verde

Either with skinny fries and chimichurri or rest it really well and have it with rocket, shaved Parmesan and nice tomatoes with a balsamic glaze.

How about a jacket potato with sour cream and chives?

I absolutely love leeks in stilton sauce with steak.

Ooh I really like the sound of that!

My eldest likes hers rare, sliced, and served in a bowl of pho.

Fried gnocchi with truffle grated over
Peppercorn sauce
Salad with French dressing
Onion rings
French beans

not all together obvs.

Creamed spinach and a jacket potato with sour cream.

It's not fancy but we have mac n cheese and a rocket salad

If you don't have chips I think you get to have another steak. No?

Bearnaise sauce. I don't care what the rest is!
You can't have asparagus now, it's not the season (clutches pearls)

King prawns in garlic and white wine
Mmmmmm surf and turf

Sharply-dressed green salad, crusty bread and Béarnaise sauce (or a slice of Roquefort to melt on top if you can't be arsed with the Béarnaise 😂)

Green salad. Green peppercorn sauce or blue cheese sauce.

Roasted cherry tomatoes.
Rocket & watercress salad with blue cheese and walnuts.

Caramelised red onions

We love 'scoopies'

Bake a potato, scoop out & mash the flesh with lots of butter, cheese, sliced spring onion & bacon. Pile back in the shells & grill until the cheese is melted and the top slightly crispy.
