What weird thoughts do you have?

Walking around my bedroom just now, I suddenly became aware of the downstairs part of my house underneath the floor. I know it's there all the time obviously but the thought just popped into my mind that there's another level underneath.

Tell me your weird thoughts please!

@BluePeterVag
Damn . Wish I hadn't looked at that while I am in bed. Now I will never get to sleep. Grin

I am one of the only dog owners on our estate. I never let my dogs roam free. However if I see dog poo anywhere around where I live, I convince myself it's my dogs, so pick it up.

I think this last lockdown has affected my rational, because now I've started doing the same with any rubbish that is lying around - convince myself it's probably come from my recycling box.
The relief when I get close and see that it's not a brand I buy is massive.

I think about how weird it is that most money doesn’t actually exist. It impacts on absolutely everything but it’s all just figures and numbers. I wonder how much actual cash there is in the world

And actual 'cash' has no value. Its just paper IOUs that stands in for gold reserves at the Bank of England. Hence the words 'I promise to pay the bearer...' on the notes themselves. We never actually pay, we just keep circulating the IOUs. Shock

@Stillfunny better not watch this one then Grin. I think about this way too much

That life and our existence on this planet is just so weird and random and we just accept it and go about our daily business.

Sometimes I imagine aliens looking down at us and seeing we have leaders like Trump and Kim Jong Un and thinking wtf.

@CrazyCatLazy

I love these! I have weird thoughts all the time! I also wonder the colours thing, I used to talk to my dad about it as a child.

One big one is I always find it strange about how close I was to meeting people I know now etc,
EG. I used to go to college in a city about 40mins from where I live, I now have been with my DP over a year who lives in this city. We sat together and shop in places I used to go to alone or with friends, go to Christmas markets I’ve been to before him etc.
I was so close to meeting him all this time? I’ve even been pretty much past his house a few times.

I wonder this too. Also, why some people seem to cross my path numerous times and others I never see. There’s one particular woman who I believe lives about 10 miles from me and over the years I keep encountering her in various random places, not all local to me/her and unconnected. I’ve told my DH as it freaks me out slightly. Also, does she notice?
Downunderduchess · 10/02/2021 05:31

I have many many strange thoughts. I often wonder if I’ve already died and this (life) is just a dream. I mean how would we know?? And how can anyone say for sure that there is or isn’t an afterlife OR are we already in it?

I also look at strangers & try to guess their secrets. Statistically some must be criminal or guilty of something!

MermaidDreams83 · 10/02/2021 05:31

I saw TikTok recently explaining how the sun is actually moving through space like a comet and the planets spin around it travelling too.

Now I can't stop thinking about our solar system travelling through space! Where are we going?! It blows my mind I thought that we were static in space and just spun round the sun in one place. 🤯

TinySongstress · 10/02/2021 06:03

Car tyres.
There must be millions of cars, vans, trucks in the UK alone, each with (at least) 4 wheels and tyres. A new tyre has approx 7mm of rubber tread when new and 1.6mm when it's time to be changed. Of all those millions and millions of tyres, Where does all the excess rubber go? Why aren't there little piles of rubber shavings everywhere? Why is it never mentioned? It can't evaporate....

I love this thread! I wonder about the colour -seeing thing too (whether we see colours completely different too). When I was a kid I used to wonder whether my life was like the movie the Truman Show - whether my school was a set and the other kids were extras . .. I have no idea why.
I also wonder about about crossing paths - my friends parents lived near my parents years ago, before any of us were born. They didn't know and can't remember each other but they probably crossed paths.
And my ex's grandparents lived right near my aunt, uncle and cousins house - he used to spend a lot of time at his grandparents as a kid and I used to go to my cousins house heaps -we prob played at same park and passed each other in the street not knowing we would meet again in the future.

DS (10) has a lot of these thoughts - he asked the other day if fish could see out of the water? cos us humans can see in the air but can't see under water, but fish can?
He also asked if, when we die, do we go to heaven wearing the same clothes we die in? cos what happens, for example, if we die while wearing a halloween costume? will we be stuck wearing it in heaven? what if it's not comfortable?
We have a lot of interesting discussions in our house!

Yes! I do this too! on train to/from work, and when I was a teenager I worked at the supermarket checkout and used to wonder about all the customers too.

if a centaur wore trousers, how would they do it? front legs so a waistband where it would be on a human, or up and over the back legs with a belt round the middle like a saddle girth strap?

this argument once brought on tears of frustration in our house. i still can’t figure it out.

Embroideredstars · 11/02/2021 16:06

Fascinating thread!

With the colour thing I think we must see colours slightly differently from each other, hence arguments over its blue/green/turquoise/aqua but then may it's due to misteaching of the "label colour".

But someone with a cataract or optic nerve neuritis will see colour different to someone with out...

Surely buttons along the back? So you step into it, pull it up four legs and it buttons from neck to tail on top
Mydogisagentleman · 11/02/2021 19:39

I think about being in bed above our front room.
I wonder if DD is breathing in and out at the same time as me.
I wonder who has received my blood donation

Seemed v logical to me but not sure what they says about my brain lol

longsigh · 11/02/2021 21:34

I wonder when air becomes space... we built an extension and it's weird to think that it was air now it's a space in our house!

needadvice54321 · 11/02/2021 22:01

I've always had weird thoughts about words. Who chose them, the sounds etc. I love the sounds of some words (fabric is my favourite) Grin

JamieFrasersSassenach · 11/02/2021 22:10

I'm loving this thread - I have so many random thoughts - a lot of them have already been mentioned on here - especially the colour one. I'm feeling far more 'normal' now!

Death - someone once said to me it's the same as before you are born, I think I can't get my head around the fact that I won't know I'm dead! But then I didn't know I hadn't been born - which I wouldn't because I had never been alive, so will death be the same? I will never know the answer to that question!!

What if 'God' is an IT guru in another universe??????

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 11/02/2021 22:38

@lifeinlimbo2020

I often think that maybe we all see colours differently. So I could ask my DS to look at the blue sky and it would be blue to me and green to him but we both are taught it as blue. So we all see the whole world in completely different colours but don't know it. Does that even make sense. GrinGrin
Yes that makes complete sense, I think that too... DH thinks I’m bonkers, maybe I’m not explaining it as well as you!!
GreenDragon2 · 11/02/2021 23:03

I sometimes worry that I might develop the ability to stop time, but then not be able to start it again and I'd just be on my own in a frozen world forever..
