What weird thoughts do you have?

Walking around my bedroom just now, I suddenly became aware of the downstairs part of my house underneath the floor. I know it's there all the time obviously but the thought just popped into my mind that there's another level underneath.

Tell me your weird thoughts please!

@Tashface

At night, I imagine there aren't any walls or roofs anywhere in my entire street, and that we all look really funny just lying about horizontally and floating in mid air Grin
Omg I think this too!! Grin
yanyat · 07/02/2021 22:30

when im out in a city I always become extra aware of where i am standing, then i think to myself i wonder how many people have stood in this exact place i am standing now. I especially think it when I'm in places that are hundreds of years old. I think 'there is someone in the future that will stand here and think about the past - i wonder if there are people from the past who stood here and wondered this about the future'

If i walk down the road and see a leaf from a tree/bush i always think to myself i wonder how many people have paid attention to this specific leaf, or am i the only person in the entire world to have looked at this leaf?

Stinkywizzleteets · 07/02/2021 22:32

I don’t know if any of my thoughts are weird. They’re all very normal for me. How does one define weird?

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 07/02/2021 22:33

That everything is either a macro or micro version of everything else. There are identical patterns everywhere between completely unrelated things.

Krook · 07/02/2021 22:36

I think how weird it would be if cars were transparent and we could all see each other sitting in little boxes whizzing about.
I know we can see each other a bit anyway but you know what I mean I'm sure. Grin

I often think that maybe we all see colours differently. So I could ask my DS to look at the blue sky and it would be blue to me and green to him but we both are taught it as blue. So we all see the whole world in completely different colours but don't know it. Does that even make sense. GrinGrin
I've wondered this from when I was young, maybe 8 or 9. It still crosses my mind from time to time Smile
Lorddenning1 · 07/02/2021 22:46

That our brain never gets a day off, even when we are asleep it's keeping us breathing and the heart going etc, would it ever just stop working due to old age like our hearts and lungs etc, if it's being used 24 hours a day from the moment we are born until we die, does it pack in after a certain amount of time or would it keep going and going?

looselegs · 07/02/2021 22:50

So this might sound weird..
My son is 22 and gay. I love him with all my heart and have no problem at all with his sexuality,as long as he's happy I absolutely don't care if he's gsy or straight..
But...if he'd even conceived a month later, would he be gay? Or would that egg and sperm be different so he wasn't?
Do you see what I mean??

It's almost certain that we don't all see colours in the same way. Why would we? But we literally have no way of finding that out - unless you can transplant that specific part of the brain plus related visual equipment.
WantChewbaccaForGood · 07/02/2021 22:55

"Fiction" and "nonfiction" - why isn't it "fact" and "nonfact"?

indemMUND · 07/02/2021 23:00

Latest weird thought:
If in a spit roast situation who goes at which end - Jax vs Opie from SOA?
Same question for Loki vs Thor.
I've been considering this for three days.
I'm bored and haven't even been in company of a real live man for nearly a year.
I appreciate most people have more mundane thoughts atm Grin

It wouldn't be him who'd been conceived though, it'd be another person entirely.

@Chimeraforce Sweden has good mines and the Germans needed the metal for the war effort.

Plus and easy route to and from Norway, the Finns had fought much harder than expected for so few.

tinylittleyou · 07/02/2021 23:06

@Moofart

Mine is... I have a mum, who had a mum, who had a mum, who had a mum, who had a mum, etc, etc- this whole long line of women having baby girls which stretches back for thousands of years, back to when we were cave women. However, I have had three baby boys so I have stopped this chain of girls having girls in my family. I think I have understood that right!
But you’ve continued the chain of dads who have a dad who have dad and so on Grin
Polkadotties · 07/02/2021 23:07

That I’m here because thousands and thousands of years ago two people decided to have sex Grin

looselegs · 07/02/2021 23:08

@indemMUND it's so weird!
Also, this is my second marriage- both my kids are with my second husband. Can never get my head around the fact that they wouldn't exist if I'd stayed with my first husband

tinylittleyou · 07/02/2021 23:08

On a similar thread to some of these... if the exact egg that made me was fertilised by a different sperm would it still be me as in my mind and consciousness but in a different person. Like possible a male version of myself if it was the same egg but the y sperm got there first.

ivfbabymomma1 · 07/02/2021 23:13

That someone took my egg, my husbands sperm, popped it in a dish, let it fertilise for 5 days. Sent me a video of the process, put it inside me and now I have an 18 month old. Like I saw my baby embryo fertilise! It's insane!

SymphonyofShadows · 07/02/2021 23:16

It’s the unconscious thoughts that trouble me more. Last night I dreamed that I grew a cat from a seed.

DailyDuckie · 07/02/2021 23:17

Mine is how my mum will tell my daughter stories about the things her great grandmother done and that she remembers when my mum was a little girl and when my daughter has great grandchildren she might tell them the same stories which means that persons memory has lived through at least 150 years! Hope that makes sense! Grin

Norwayreally · 07/02/2021 23:21

Every time I wash my hair in the shower I do it as quickly as possible because I always think someone is going to come in and murder me when I’m standing there with my eyes closed. Not an issue when I’m in the bath, only the shower.

Stillfunny · 07/02/2021 23:23

That we are the same physical make up of people who lived hundreds of years ago , like in Pharaoh Egypt . And they had the same emotions too. They also thought they were the most advanced civilisation too.
And the complexity of villages like Pompeii that had no mechanical equipment. But how smart they were too . History fascinates me.

Dontstepinthecowpat · 07/02/2021 23:24

One of my DC is colour blind. Everyone says that people with colour blindness see red as green, etc. But surely when I taught him what colour red was, even if it looks green to him he would still point out a red car as red as that’s what colour he learned it as. I can’t get my head around it.

MissHoney85 · 07/02/2021 23:26

I sometimes find myself wondering if other people actually exist or if I'm living in some kind of simulation. Like, driving down the motorway or something I just look at all the other people in their cars going about their business and think, do they actually have their own lives, thoughts, feelings, plans, families etc? Seems kind of unlikely somehow. I know they (probably) do, it's like my brain just can't cope with the enormity of it all.

Also, death. The fact that one day I will die - I don't know how or when but one way or another, one day I will just cease to exist. My heart will stop beating and my brain will fizzle out, and that will be it. And the same thing will happen to every single person I know. It's another thought that my brain really struggles to process properly - I guess we're designed that way.

This. What I see as pink might be what my OH sees as my blue but to him it’s pink Confused
