Which kitchen would you choose?

If you had to pick one of the 3.

Dh and I buying new build. We had picked a kitchen but we're back at square one after changing plot. I know none of these are colourful before anyone says we plan to add colour through accessories that can be changed rather than any permanent choices.

We both disagree on what we like. One of these is my favourite, one is his and one is the choices we'd made last time.

Opinions please I'm desperate Sad

And yes I know it's very standard new build kitchen and that isn't for everyone, understood.

D is my least favourite. Don’t like the tiles in A/D

MargotLovedTom1 · 31/01/2021 00:16

Yes I like that latest combination you've posted. The tiles look good, and add a bit of interest with everything else as a plain backdrop.

YellowEllis · 31/01/2021 00:18

If we go for D, the tiles match the carpet we've already chosen and can't change, and there's no risk of clashing with the oak doors, that we also can't change? They aren't actual hard, cold tiles. They are waterproof LVT if that makes a difference?

What other colours in the wood effect laminate are available to you?

These, the third matches the oak doors the closest

I like A with the tiling from B... sorry! Grin

BungleandGeorge · 31/01/2021 00:22

A is the best. The wooden worktops don’t go with the other colours

BungleandGeorge · 31/01/2021 00:24

If you want wood I’d also go for proper wood, if you’re having laminate the plainer the better. I’d aeriosuly consider upgrading the worktops, Corian would look nice

MargotLovedTom1 · 31/01/2021 00:24

Is the middle worktop the one in the collages? I would go for the one that tones best with the doors. We have wood effect laminate worktops and I love it! Never have any problems with water marks or cleaning it.

MargotLovedTom1 · 31/01/2021 00:27

Proper wood is a bloody nightmare, especially around a sink.
OP has already said they're on a budget re worktops, so I can't see Corian being an option.

YellowEllis · 31/01/2021 00:28

Ok I'm really leaning towards this. It goes with the things we can't change (I.e grey/white speckled carpets, and warm oak doors). Or am I just blind from the stress? It has the wall tiles dh loves too as he keeps moaning about the herringbone ones we've picked at the moment.

Definitely A but with the tiles of B/C - really dislike the mismatching tiles. And as @Saz12 said I would definitely change the handles if you can.

Onjnmoeiejducwoapy · 31/01/2021 00:33

Agree with others on changing handles if you can.

Are there any other wall tiles to chose from? I agree with your DH about not being mad about the metro tiles but the mismatched ones look a bit messy and dated?

MargotLovedTom1 · 31/01/2021 00:33

It looks fine and will look even better in real life once you get all your things in.

Onjnmoeiejducwoapy · 31/01/2021 00:34

If you’re going wood would you not consider C? It looks nice and wouldn’t clash with your doors?

Potterylady13 · 31/01/2021 00:34

A

YellowEllis · 31/01/2021 00:34

Sorry the handles on the pictures aren't right I just don't know how to edit mine on as they are too fiddly. We have chrome cup handles on the drawers and chrome knobs on the cupboards. Still leaning towards this one I think!

The 3rd one is the least bland. They're all a bit meh.

rockinaftermidnite · 31/01/2021 00:36

Definitely A

PointlessUsername · 31/01/2021 00:36

B with A's flooring

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 31/01/2021 00:36

A because a white or pale counter top is far easier to keep clean because as soon as you see a spill/mark you wipe it clean.
The last 3 houses I lived in had white or pale counter tops. The house we're in now has a dark green counter top & I don't like it as you can't always see any marks.

ConkerBonkers · 31/01/2021 00:39

A but a bit confused about the tiles on A, so possibly A with the tiles from B. I like A because everything tones together well which it doesn't so much with B or C.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 31/01/2021 00:40

A but not the walls. I'd go for metro tiles.

YellowEllis · 31/01/2021 00:42

Dh likes them, they are decor tiles that would look like this (except in white rather than grey!)

Your exactly right about the tones, this is what I'm struggling with. I think I've managed to balance the tones more here?

Sorry I keep reposting the same pic but just want people to see my most recent idea. I need to get some sleep soon BlushGrin
