Which kitchen would you choose?

If you had to pick one of the 3.

Dh and I buying new build. We had picked a kitchen but we're back at square one after changing plot. I know none of these are colourful before anyone says we plan to add colour through accessories that can be changed rather than any permanent choices.

We both disagree on what we like. One of these is my favourite, one is his and one is the choices we'd made last time.

Opinions please I'm desperate Sad

And yes I know it's very standard new build kitchen and that isn't for everyone, understood.

Excellent choice OP

The units are nice, but don’t like any of the flooring, worktops or tiles. Think herringbone design tiles are going to look really dated in a few years. Same with the grey wall tiles. Neither worktop is great, but slate effect flooring not too bad.

I’d stick with the units and the slate floor and maybe go with slate wall tiles and a dark wood worktop. Or worktop to match the flooring plus a pastel wall tile - maybe pale green?

@PenguinBarnotBird

Gorgeous floors OP. Would change carpet to warmer colour than grey.
We had originally chosen a lovely pale sand colour carpet until Dh convinced me to go grey speck as we have toddlers, and a dog Sad

A- that floor is stunning

Popsy321 · 01/02/2021 23:10

@sabrinathemiddleagewitch

A with different surface as Marble effect will date very quickly Otherwise C
Marble won't date. It's a classic.

Neither will herringbone - it's a classic.

@YellowEllis personally I’d definitely go for sand carpets. Grey is not classic, it will look dated in time and you will be very limited what colours will look good with it. Get a carpet cleaner to suck up any spills immediately. Sand colour hides mud and coffee stains anyway!

C is pretty much identical to my own kitchen, wall tiles, worktop, doors (and similar handles) but we went with a stone tiled-effect flooring, like different-sized tiles laid in a pattern from cream to coffee. Got it off the roll in Carpetright.

It doesn't show the dirt Grin

Sixnationswidow · 02/02/2021 18:52

Ive just done similar to A and I love it.

Quartz opinions please!
They don’t look hugely different on my screen! Either the right hand side or top left as the others look like they have a yellow tone
Sixnationswidow · 02/02/2021 19:02

Ive just put in similar and pleased we went with quartz. My floor is lighter in real life but wish we'd gone for Herringbone.

A - I like the marble worktop and I think the grey colour in that will work well with the grey tiles. I also prefer that floor option that the other two.

B/C - I don’t like the herringbone tiles, or the wood tops with the grey floors. I don’t think they work together.

Chambored · 02/02/2021 19:22

@YellowEllis

We have ordered chevron oak floor and white quartz worktops, with splashback and upstand. No tiles. I'll post a picture once it's done! Thanks for talking me into it Grin

Side note, whilst I have your attention.. now I've changed my downstairs flooring to chevron oak, do I need to change my carpet? The two floors will meet at the bottom of the stairs and into the lounge. Our stairs have oak and glass bannisters so would that be enough to make them go?

I’ve just seen that you’ve ordered a quartz worktop, herringbone floor and no tiles. I think this will look gorgeous, and will get the look you want to achieve re the pic you posted. Good luck and defo update the thread once it’s done!

Re carpet.
Agree with a PP, a sandy carpet with go with the oak floor better than grey.

Chambored · 02/02/2021 19:23

And the quartz pic is difficult to see.
Can you post individual pics of the samples?

Chambored · 02/02/2021 19:23

Your kitchen looks fab @Sixnationswidow 👍🏻👍🏻
