Vaccine refusal

Do you know anyone who is refusing to have the vaccine, for whatever reason

MyFavouritePlace · 29/01/2021 19:45

Yes unfortunately my sister, she 77 and is CEV but is refusing because she doesn't like needles Hmm

safariboot · 29/01/2021 19:45

No, but I'm dreading it. I hate injections and have a history of fainting after them. The photos of giant halls, or of people getting drive-through jabs, the whole thing coming across as very industrialised to vaccinate people as quickly as possible - it terrifies me.

I would absolutely have to refuse a drive-thru vaccine. Like I said, I faint after jabs, so that would be downright dangerous. So if I was put in a position of drive-thru jab or no jab, it would be no jab.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 29/01/2021 19:46

Not personally, I can't wait to have mine.
My parents have both had their first dose, the only complaint was that my mum had the Pfizer jab but my dad got the Oxford one and she was jealous.

@BamboozledandBefuddled Fair do's Smile

@sylbunny hope you feel better soon, must be awful dealing with the symptoms whilst pregnant when you are only allowed to look at most helpful over the counter medications.

frumpety · 29/01/2021 19:51

@safariboot, I have had loads of vaccinations over the years and I have to say this one was the easiest in terms of pain or discomfort, literally hardly felt a thing and due to my excess padding needed a slightly larger needle Wink

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 29/01/2021 19:52

I react badly to vaccines, nothing life threatening but reactions non the less. I don't want to have it right now- I need to give it time and also get some advice around medical conditions that I have. DH is on the fence. Neither of us are priority through so we have time to think

ilovebagpuss · 29/01/2021 19:52

@FreshFreesias I am allergic to Penicillin and I was fine except for a sore arm. It’s true that some people have felt more poorly with aches and chills but it’s rare for people to be very unwell. Two people I work with had the vaccine in December and recently caught Covid and have had very mild cases.
Of course it’s an individuals choice.

@sylbunny hope you feel better ASAP. That sounds absolutely awful.

ADRIENNEthroughbloodshoteyes · 29/01/2021 19:59

Me. I will refuse it, for now. I’ve had Bell’s Palsy three times (and recovered) and it terrifies me. I want the vaccine, but I don’t want facial paralysis. There is not enough evidence yet; only enough from the trials to say BP is to be watched out for.
I will be watching for it’s prevalence across the different vaccines over time. Each time I had BP the disfigurement frightened me.

wlv12 · 29/01/2021 20:00

Had mine last week and husband will have it as soon as he’s eligible.
Mum died of covid and anything I can do to help avoid one more family losing a loved one without being able to comfort them and hold their hands, I’ll do.

C130 · 29/01/2021 20:02

I agree with you Feawen. I have reported that Post already.

Mummyme87 · 29/01/2021 20:02

Lots of anti Vaxers around, but other than that, yes I am a HCP and a reasonable amount of my colleagues aren’t having it

Laiste · 29/01/2021 20:05

My friend's DDs works in a surgery and her main job for the last couple of weeks has been ringing to book people up for their jabs. She's ringing 200/300 a day. She says every day she gets apx 10 refusals.

Interestingly she herself has refused an offer of one (worries about future fertility).

Just today i was mistakenly invited into my own surgery for one as a 'high risk patient'. I put them right (i'm not high risk at all) and said i'd wait till i'm called again ...

BrutusMcDogface · 29/01/2021 20:08

Someone I went to school has been quite vocal (on fb) about refusing it. I’m delighted to have been offered it and will be having it on Monday too! 😁

rc22 · 29/01/2021 20:11

Yes my husband's uncle. Never accepts his invitation for a flu jab so isn't about to start having vaccines now. Doesn't even believe covid is real although, bizarrely, when I had it, rang my husband every day to check how I was!!

sausagepastapot · 29/01/2021 20:12

If you take ANY drug, or ANY vaccine, you are part of phase 4 trials.

If you will take a paracetamol but refuse the vaccine, you are a fool.

Crankley · 29/01/2021 20:12

I have an appointment tomorrow for my first jab. I am not thrilled at the prospect as had severe reaction to a flu jab one year but I will have it done unless I get snowed in. Physically disabled and don't want to fall and break bones - again.

4redSocks · 29/01/2021 20:14

I was booked to have mine tomorrow! I have now changed my mind after watching the news and talk of a new vaccine.

Anon778833 · 29/01/2021 20:16

Yes, I know someone who says that Bill Gates has invented the vaccine to cause everyone to become infertile to depopulate the planet. The ‘evidence’ they cite is our government document which apparently says that there is no guarantee the vaccine doesn’t cause infertility.

Bagelsandbrie · 29/01/2021 20:17

I’m booked to have mine next Wednesday. I’m in the clinically extremely vulnerable group. I’ll be honest, I’m terrified. I’m scared of the side effects, scared it hasn’t been around very long etc. BUT I’m more terrified of covid itself so off I will go!

My dh works in a healthcare environment and it’s amazing how many people are saying they won’t have it.

Feawen · 29/01/2021 20:17

Thanks C130, hopefully it will be deleted.

Re the vaccine, almost everyone I’ve spoken to can’t wait to have it. One person was a bit wary, but has looked into it further and now plans to go ahead (he’ll be offered it through work), having read a bit more about the testing process. I’ll have it when I’m offered but I’ll be a long way down the list.

handsforfeet · 29/01/2021 20:18

I've had mine.

I understand some people want more evidence. I'm ok being their trial.

Trunkysbun · 29/01/2021 20:18

@FreshFreesias

I’m allergic to penicillin but otherwise healthy. I’ve heard of people having quite a few side effects so won’t be having it. Given that I enjoy good health I just don’t want to risk it. If I was younger I’d also be worried about the effects on fertility.

I'm very allergic to penicillin and had the Pfizer jab last week 👍🏻
