I like the idea of a ‘wellness journey’

I think I need one. I’m going a bit loopy.
Comfort eating has brought me discomfort. My clothes, when I get changed into them from my ‘loungewear’ feel rather tight.
All the doom and gloom all over the internet has made me feel gloomy.

I want to feel well again.
What do I need to do? I think I could do with more yoga and soup in my life. I can start off with that. That sounds like it belongs in a ‘wellness journey’
What else can I do?

Shamelessly placemark
But already getting ideas
Lovely thread

Lovely thread. I like hearing how others are trying to bring good & positive things into their life. We started having Wellness" workshops at work a few years back and I have gotten some lovely ideas at those. I have crippling anxiety so having rituals in my day are really helpful. I find these help me get through

Candles! I have been buying lovely candles and light them in the evening (some days if it's dark during the day I light them) and they just make me feel calm.

Taking a nice bath
Reading and researching about books (this is my absolute savior)
Going for a walk when I can, even if it's just 10 mins just to get out in day light.
One night the moon just looked so beautiful that I went out into the garden and stood for ages watching it.
Noticing nature. Watching little birds coming into the garden. Going out and looking at some flowers I've planted
Having fruit& veg somewhere along what way during the day.
Having a nice glass of good wine on a Friday evening while watching an episode of a show I'm into.
Lying beside he cat when he falls asleep on my bed and just listening to him purr.
Getting DD to read to me.
Putting on a record

Small things but they make they bring me back to ground when I feel it all a bit much Smile

Today I am going to:

Get dressed (in a minute!) and wrap up warmly and go for a long walk
Draw/paint
Meditate

That’s it for today- am trying not to make into another job with a ‘To Do’ list.

This is great and a perfect reminder for me to do the same. I live rurally and often when I go to bed i sit on the edge of the bed before getting in and star gaze especially now with the dark clear skies. Sometimes i have stepped out the kitchen patio doors before going to bed and your post reminded me how much more magical it is when I'm im the garden. Or even just looking out an open door. I'll try to remember tonight to do that.

We've been walking or cycling in the countryside twice a week since new year - it's the biggest mood improver I know! The photo is a still from a video I took yesterday.

We live in a city but can get there in 20 minutes. If you don't have a car are there regular buses you could take?

Yoga with Adriene, meditation (just 10 mins on calm app), pint of water with vitamins done. Found a new book to read too. I feel much more positive today but trying not to make wellness steps feel like something else on my to-do list and getting stressed if I don't do them!

MuddyWalk5007 · 24/01/2021 15:09

Love the picture @JanuaryJonez.
I played in the snow with dcs today and we filled a bird feeder with seeds and hung it off a tree. It will be nice to see birds in our garden.
I’ve started a book and trying to eat better.

Yesterday I took a bath and did leg exercises in the bath. Two in one self care 😃

Today we went for a long walk. I’ve eaten quite a few sweets, but it is Sunday.

EastofEdna · 24/01/2021 17:56

Walk done; cleared the cobwebs! The universe sent me a gift in the form of my goddaughter who wanted help with her art homework. 2 hours later we have both produced something - luckily I don’t have to show mine to anyone.

Will do my meditation later, post/in the bath a two-for-one!

Am feeling refreshed and relaxed and ready for a busy week.

orchidsonabudget · 24/01/2021 17:58

Ooh. Marking place to come back to

MuddyWalk5007 · 24/01/2021 18:56

So, today I did something that I haven’t done in ages. I didn’t snack and actually waited for dinner.
It made me feel so much better and enjoy dinner so much more.

Marking place so I can keep following. Such a lovely thread.

2 years I did a bit of an extreme but life changing week. I ordered a week of Jason Vale’s juices and ate or drank nothing but those. The plan was called lose 7lbs in 7 days , which I did. I also planned a treat such as a massage or a facial every day to my mind of the hunger. I completely ditched tea (except for decaf green tea), coffee and fizzy drinks . Two years on I still haven’t had any caffeine and I have at least five of my five a day every day, which I never did before. For me that week was like going on a journey.

Well done ⭐️
EastofEdna · 24/01/2021 20:13

@MuddyWalk5007 - I came back to the thread to say today feels like the first day I've had in January where I haven't mindlessly snacked in between meals and I am not hungry. It feels good doesn't it?

MuddyWalk5007 · 24/01/2021 23:06

Thanks Smile @Lookingforwardto2021

@EastofEdna it feels really good. I felt a bit out of control before. Let’s hope we can keep this up.

After 3 weeks on the OMAD diet I am so happy to be noticing subtle changes. First is was my stomach not feeling as bloated. Then it was a family member commenting on how my face looked less puffy. Then i noticed my décolletage looked slimmer. And today I just managed to button up my size 10 coat! I have to admit I did the stupidest and most embarrassing happy dance ever!Grin

Pimlicojo · 25/01/2021 08:22

I'm glad I've found this thread as I badly need to focus on this. Lots of ideas and I'm going to mull things over today. I've already started drinking more water and making sure I take vitamins and feel better for it. I also find getting outdoors helps my mood hugely.

EastofEdna · 25/01/2021 10:22

@BlissLi - hope you enjoyed the happy dance. I am envious - I have a beautiful coat perfect for this weather that does not button up!

  • I will struggle today timewise but my wellness goals are:
  • take time to brush my teeth, clean my face and put my game face on for all day meetings.
  • Go out for a relaxing walk at lunch time in the park rather than a gallop around the block
  • draw/paint
  • meditate
  • drink my water earlier in the day

Have a good day everyone

MuddyWalk5007 · 25/01/2021 10:30

@BlissLi what a result. I’ve always wanted to do OMAD but I crack at about midday.
I have done some yoga now I need to do some work but I will aim for nutrition, water, walking and reading.

kitschplease · 25/01/2021 13:01

I started the day with 15 mins yoga, have had 2 pints of water and vitamins, now about to read a chapter of my book before getting back to Zoom.

I'm trying not to eat after 8pm to reduce snacking too.

Halfagonyhalfhope · 25/01/2021 13:06

great thread - thanks for starting OP

BuddhaAtSea · 25/01/2021 15:48

I baked a cake. It’s good for the soul. I’m about to have a chunk of it with a nice coffee in a bit. 😊

BlissLi · 25/01/2021 17:26

@MuddyWalk5007 first week was horrendous. Not so much the craving and hunger pains but the withdrawal from sugar & caffeine Blush headaches, stomach ache, shakes, light headed ness, fatigue, feeling sick! The shock value hit hard and I can not believe I used to sit on the sofa for hours every night eating 3,000+ calories in snacks and drinking nothing but coke Envy it is quite disgusting to reflect back on!

Now I'm at the point where I forget it's time to eat until my alarm goes off, and I honestly haven't been hungry for about 2 weeks! Onwards and upwards Grin

Chipsahoy · 25/01/2021 19:31

I fear a nation, if not world of traumatised individuals after all of this. I have cptsd so know trauma well. Absolutely wellness abs self care is everything here.

I have to have an hour to myself everyday, it’s do or die for me. Yoga, crochet, and lots of writing. Scented candles help a lot and I wear healing stones. Taking care of myself includes daily shower and full moisturising every day.
Vitamin d daily. I’ve been gluten free for three years but actually eating it again at moment so I can have testing for celiac disease. So far I’ve felt ok actually so maybe don’t need it?
Cut down on meat massively, lots of veg with each meal. No tv license so no live tv or news at all. I don’t have a clue what’s happening in the world. I do struggle a bit with that as I know that’s my privilege but I have to be well to take care of my children.

It really is the basics here. Eat well, get fresh air and take care of your body. Your mind and body are more connected than most people realise.
