I like the idea of a ‘wellness journey’

MuddyWalk5007 · 23/01/2021 00:21

I think I need one. I’m going a bit loopy.
Comfort eating has brought me discomfort. My clothes, when I get changed into them from my ‘loungewear’ feel rather tight.
All the doom and gloom all over the internet has made me feel gloomy.

I want to feel well again.
What do I need to do? I think I could do with more yoga and soup in my life. I can start off with that. That sounds like it belongs in a ‘wellness journey’
What else can I do?

@YetAnotherWalk I always found the same with home dyes whatever I used. First appointment I can get for my hair is 1st May, I dread to think what my roots will look like by then! I think I may be investing in a few wide headbands in the next few weeks!!

I'm feeling much less stressed in the last couple of days. Still easily triggered by things so not quite back to normal yet but getting there.

Yesterday I
Made a delicious date night dinner and dessert all from scratch.
Enjoyed a relaxed evening.
Seem to have tweaked DDs bedtime routine to something that works again so I've got me evenings back.
Drank loads of water and woke up feeling so much better for it.
Took my morning coffee back to bed and read my book...don't often get chance to do this!

Today's aim is less browsing social media. I've almost entirely cut out watching or reading the news and I definitely think I feel more positive about things as a result. I need social media for work so I'm going to schedule daily time to do that rather than mindlessly browse throughout the day. I'm also hoping to fit in a bit of yoga and start to find bits of time for this throughout the day.

YetAnotherWalk · 07/03/2021 08:11

Thanks girls, I don't routinely do anything to the colour as I'm happy with it mostly but I'm just bored Hmm

Sounds like you're doing well @MischiefManager. I'm hoping back to school will help my children get back to sleep better - been very hit and miss here!

Good luck in the job hunt @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl

EastofEdna · 07/03/2021 16:33

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl - we will be job hunting together.

I have had a good weekend - I completed Week 6 of a 0 to 10K routine with a couple of good runs - today was 20 min non stop and we did manage to up to the pace to just slightly over 10 min miles and I've just done 40 mins on the exercise bike. The thought of having to get into interview clothes is spurring me on :-)

I've also managed to reclaim some space in my bedroom - there was nowhere else to store garden furniture but it is back out in the yard now.

All in all a good weekend and I've got a new book to read this evening.

Hope everyone is having a good one with some time for themselves.

MischiefManager · 08/03/2021 09:10

Great day yesterday!
Drank loads of water and ate well without making anything off limits which is working better for me I think. Lost a bit more weight this morning too so fab but more importantly I'm feeling better in myself.
Cut the grass for the first time and tidied up our little yard area by our back door. Put a few little violas in the planters and it looks much more spring like.
Read quite a few chapters of my book.
Painted my nails a bright spring colour.
Baked bread rolls for Dd's first school packed lunch now she's back today.
Let a potentially highly stressful situation wash over me rather than getting consumed in it.

Got a fairly chilled day with youngest dd today catching up on a bit of housework and admin stuff and planning to go for a run with the oldest after school.

Have a great day everyone Smile

MischiefManager · 09/03/2021 07:07

Lots of water drank again
Another small loss on the scales
Went for a run in the evening
Sorted a few admin jobs
Nice to see some of the other parents at school
Caught up mouth a friend via messenger

MischiefManager · 09/03/2021 07:08

With not mouth Hmm

EastofEdna · 09/03/2021 10:39

Don't have children, but spoke to my little niece last night after her first day back at school and she was vivid. She has been very stoical about homeschooling, being limited in who she can see, but she was bouncing about doing her yoga with her classmates and then lying on the mats basically chatting rubbish. So happy to see.

Today I need to get myself organised as it has drifted a little the last week, so back to sonnets and self care.

Have a good day everyone.

MischiefManager · 10/03/2021 08:35

Lots of time outside in the garden in the spring sunshine yesterday.
Lots of garden jobs sorted.
An unexpected day off and family day together due to youngest having a cough so needing to test and isolate (luckily she's fine in herself so we had a lovely day together).
Read quite a few chapters of my book.
Feeling pretty content right now.

MischiefManager · 11/03/2021 07:27

Homemade quiche followed by home made scones for lunch yesterday baked with the girls.
Just laying and listening to the wind and rain from my cosy bed.
Another loss on the scales.

LeonoraFlorence · 11/03/2021 07:54

@Bubbles1st
Which diary did you use? Sounds like something I need in my life right now. :)

Bubbles1st · 11/03/2021 08:04

@LeonoraFlorence I used this one. I was fortunate to have a group sessions with her and I was just instantly intrigued to try some of her suggestions and her journal was one of them. I loved it from day one. If you are on Facebook she has a group and I think she is just about to start a virtual book club for those just getting the journal.

MuddyWalk5007 · 12/03/2021 07:44

I’ve been having some really busy days but not getting as much done as I’ve wanted to.
I’ve realised I can’t watch Netflix and read a book Hmm. It has to be one or the other so I’m trying to find a balance.
I’ve been eating better, sticking to my 8hr window and seem to have lost a couple of lbs. I need to look at calories now to speed up the weight loss.
My skin is looking way better. I’ve started moisturising daily and doing a weekly face mask. The more expensive ones actually make a difference! I never thought they would.

MischiefManager · 12/03/2021 09:23

Managed to get outside quite a bit yesterday - I think that makes the biggest difference to my general mood.
Ate pretty well all day. Weight is slowly coming off and I'm starting to feel better.
I've noticed a difference in my skin too since i started a proper skincare routine. I have a much healthier glow.
Slowly working towards a simpler and yet more fulfilled life and each step feels great.
Routines I've started are going well and have become an automatic part of my day.

I'd still like to work on
Not mindlessly scrolling social media
Drinking more water consistently
Introducing yoga and some guided meditation

EastofEdna · 12/03/2021 13:54

Afternoon!

I need a bit of back to basics going on! My mood has dipped a little and I am sure it is down to that self care slipping, so I am back to prioritising what will be good for my own wellbeing.

  1. Get back on the IF horse - so I will cut off tonight at 18:30
  2. No screens at bedtime, not sure how I think surfing news channels at midnight is going to help me sleep!
  3. Fingers crossed I can see the Niece at the weekend, outside, as the one person outside my household. Hopefully her mum agrees with my interpretation of the rules; and if not be patient a bit longer.
  4. I am grateful today that I am working up till the end of the month and I am busy.
  5. Plan for continuing with 0 to 10K running schedule at the weekend, and complete W7, and be 5K ready when ParkRun is back in June (IIRC)

Waves to everyone.

MischiefManager · 13/03/2021 11:39

@EastofEdna I've started IF this week and it seems to be going well so far.

Enjoyed my day at work yesterday and as a result I'm making lots more exciting plans and feeling really motivated.
Enjoyed a lovely family takeaway last night and didn't feel the need to stuff myself with food.
Early night last night.
Received flowers from a lovely customer which has really made me smile.
Brief catch up with friends in messenger.

MirandaWestsNewBFF · 13/03/2021 12:41

I feel the same. I’ve put on loads of weight during lockdown as I’ve been working so hard the whole time. So like you I decided that something had to change. I decided that I’ll eat healthily Monday to Thursday, snacking only on fruit or lean protein, having overnight oats for breakfast, lean protein and veg or homemade soup for lunch (no carbs) and a relatively healthy dinner. I also start the day with a short cardio workout. On Friday to Sunday I can (if I want) have whatever I feel like but as I’m trying to lose weight I probably won’t go too nuts! It feels like a good balance and not too restrictive.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 14/03/2021 22:58

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend Flowers

I thought last week would be quieter with the DC finally back at school, but the house is so grubby, it's taken me ages to get it back in a relatively clean and tidy state! Plus DP clearly isn't busy enough at work as he feels the need to ring me frequently Hmm

On the bright side, I've done 13K+ steps yesterday and today, plus a Joe Wicks workout both days... I do feel a lot better for doing them. DP keeps saying that he needs to get back to the gym, but as that won't be possible for quite a while, I think it's more or less an excuse for doing as little as possible in the meantime...!

@EastofEdna good luck with the job hunting Smile I won't deny I'm finding it particularly tedious, but I do have an interview lined up for this week to break the monotony!

MischiefManager · 15/03/2021 07:20

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl good luck with the interview.

Lovely bubble bath and face mask last night.
Nice walk with the dog.
Home made cake and tea.
Drove over to drop a little something off for my mum as a surprise and said a little hello from the bottom of the driveway.
Finished my book.

EastofEdna · 15/03/2021 08:44

oooo @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl - good luck with the job interview. I have potentially got something lined up for a May start but will still have a good look around in case that doesn't happen.

I had a good weekend - got out with The Niece for a long walk. I hope when lockdown ends, it really does end.

My wellness goals for the week:

  1. reduce the amount of caffeine I drink. I have got into the bad habit of having a couple of really strong coffees throughout the day and I am sure it is stopping me getting to sleep.
  2. I found my little book of yoga poses so I will be able to complete my full workout :-) so to do that 3 times this week.
  3. Complete Week 7 of the 0 to 10K - I have only one more run of 22 mins to achieve that. If the weather holds out, I'll get that done today.

Waves hello to everyone.

MirandaWestsNewBFF · 15/03/2021 15:30

I lost 3 lbs in my first week so feeling quite excited! My goal this week is to stick with it!

felulageller · 15/03/2021 15:47

Water on waking
Vitamins
No alcohol
Walk outside every day
Yoga
Eat more fruit and veg

MischiefManager · 16/03/2021 09:11

Put first potatoes in veg plot.
Home made bread.
Nice walk with the dog.
Tea and homemade scone.
Hot shower and a bit of pamper time before bed,

EastofEdna · 16/03/2021 15:25

@MischiefManager - that sounds idyllic. @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl - have you had your interview yet? How did it go, if not GOOD LUCK Flowers

Things I'm grateful for today:

  1. I get my Covid vaccination tomorrow. I was booked in for the end of the month but the Drs surgery just rang and they have a slot free tomorrow.
  2. My job has been extended till end of April/ possibly end of May
  3. I am going for a run tonight and it looks perfect out: crisp and dry

Hope everyone is having a good day.

MischiefManager · 16/03/2021 18:18

That's great news about the job and the jab @EastofEdna Smile

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/03/2021 21:46

Pleased you've had good news about your job and your jab @EastofEdna, and hope you enjoyed your run!

My interview is tomorrow; not entirely sure that I want the job - it's a bit different to anything I've done before - but it'll be nice to meet the managers and discuss the role. I think it's a small family company, but not entirely sure - that's just what I've gathered from the website.

@MischiefManager your days sound chilled and enjoyable... wish mine were the same, I spent most of today cleaning the kitchen Sad
