I like the idea of a ‘wellness journey’

MuddyWalk5007 · 23/01/2021 00:21

I think I need one. I’m going a bit loopy.
Comfort eating has brought me discomfort. My clothes, when I get changed into them from my ‘loungewear’ feel rather tight.
All the doom and gloom all over the internet has made me feel gloomy.

I want to feel well again.
What do I need to do? I think I could do with more yoga and soup in my life. I can start off with that. That sounds like it belongs in a ‘wellness journey’
What else can I do?

More spring cleaning yesterday. Feels really good to be clearing out and sorting things. Had a couple of good nights sleep too. Need to limit my social media use next I think. I need it for work but I can set my self specific times for that rather than wasting hours aimlessly scrolling. I'm sat in my pjs with a cuppa this morning and have been reading instead of scrolling so that's a start!

MischiefManager · 22/02/2021 08:39

I think I've killed the thread Blush

Had a stressful couple of days but still managed moments of taking care of my well being. I'm off to a better start today. Healthy breakfast while reading a book instead of scrolling social media. Drank water first thing and took a multi vitamin. Long walk planned for today and bubble bath later Smile

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 22/02/2021 10:59

I think half term has nearly killed me @MischiefManager Grin my wellness journey will begin in earnest on March 8th, assuming the DC are finally back at school then!!

Hope you enjoy today after a stressful couple of days. Once you fall off the wagon (so to speak) it can be hard to get back on and remember all your good habits! I need to order some more cod liver oil tablets for my ancient creaky joints and up my water intake, I tend to forget whilst I'm hearing "MUMMEEEEEE" every five seconds...

EastofEdna · 22/02/2021 13:26

@MischiefManager - definitely not a thread killer. I went out for a plod/run yesterday - picking up C25K routine near to the end. I usually get to the 5K bit, slack off and then have to start again from the beginning; but dear god I was wheezy in the second ten minute slot. I did feel brilliant once I'd recovered though. Lots of snowdrops, early croci (crocuses?) out and I will go out again tomorrow for the third run in this section.

I have joined a low contribution facebook book club run by a friend - you basically just post a picture of a book you have read and a description. I have got lots of good book suggestions now.

I am plodding on with the sonnets; sticking to my IF windows and not snacking in between meals; doing bits of yoga here and there. I am feeling more contented; like I am recognising better those times in the day where I need to breathe and take time out; so spreading out yoga throughout the day works better for me than dedicating a whole hour to it (which is also good).

Enjoy the rest of the day.

YetAnotherWalk · 22/02/2021 13:34

Hi, I'm still here. Just struggling to get through each day now and a terrible night's sleep last night has made the work/home school and drizzle combo today even more delightful Sad

EastofEdna · 22/02/2021 13:47

@YetAnotherWalk Flowers

YetAnotherWalk · 22/02/2021 15:40

Thanks Edna I just can't stop comfort eating and when I tried to do yoga last night, the tell froze Confused Tomorrow is meant to be lovely and sunny and I've managed to book a slot at a NT property, so hopefully that will be nice!

Sounds like you're doing very well Edna

Still cleaning and sorting stuff @MischiefManager?

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 22/02/2021 22:09

@EastofEdna that book club sounds great! Undemanding but interesting to follow.

It's tough at the moment @YetAnotherWalk (I say this having dragged the DC out for 'yet another walk' in the drizzle today!) - I mean at least the schools are going back (yippee!!) but there'll be nothing open for us over the Easter holidays, and the DC's activities/ clubs won't be back on till mid-April at the earliest. I was hoping to book a day out over Easter and treat them to a theme park visit or similar but it looks like that won't happen! Life just feels such a drudge at the moment Sad

EastofEdna · 23/02/2021 09:55

@YetAnotherWalk - I thought I was doing well. I have given up all expectations of perfection and then had the worst night's sleep ever and this morning, despite the glorious spring day outside am a bit gloomy here.

I'll reframe that - I am doing well and I might find some space in my day where I can get out and go for a walk in the park and let the wind blow out the cobwebs. Maybe I'll go crazy and try a different route.

Best go and find some motivation for a day full of team meetings.

EastofEdna · 23/02/2021 10:00

ps @YetAnotherWalk you've just reminded me we have a NT property not that far away so might investigate if the grounds are open for a change of scenery.

MuddyWalk5007 · 23/02/2021 10:50

I’ve been busy lately and slipped into a convenient snacking habit. Now that there’s a date for when we can mix with people again, I’m imagining meeting up with my lovely family and looking well and slimmer than I do currently.
I don’t want to look fatter than when I last saw everyone, which I currently am by half a stone. Eek.

A friend sent me some face yoga info, I bought some more face and hair masks and need to remember my moisturising.

It’s a lovely day for a walk too.

Hope you all have a good day.

We had a good day. Calm, bright with a good walk and schooling went well, but still ate 3 chocolate bars Blush

I need to get rid of about 3-4kg and no motivation! At least from the 8th I'll be walking lots of miles to school and back I guess!

Yes, very samey and tedious now @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl

Do have a look @EastofEdna - we've been going regularly

Toying with putting a non permanent colour through my hair @MuddyWalk5007 just for something different.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 23/02/2021 22:03

Really stressful day here with DS1 (borderline ASD) reverting to the 'Hyde' side of his personality Hmm - honestly some days it's like someone has flicked a switch and turned him into a whiny, moany, aggressive little horror. He didn't stop whinging till about midday and then DP was completely unhelpful when he got home from work - my stress levels are sky high Sad

We did get out for a walk and it was reasonably sunny and pleasant but any enjoyment was spoiled by DS1's tantrumming. I have a Zoom webinar tomorrow about him but who knows if I'll even be able to pay any attention to it with him in the background?!

I redid my roots a couple of weeks ago @YetAnotherWalk but I'm so desperate for a haircut, it's been six months since my last one!

@MuddyWalk5007 the thought of seeing people again (mainly at the school gate in my case) spurs me on when I'm thinking of collapsing during PE with Joe Grin

ExtraordinaryQuince · 24/02/2021 03:25

I love my weighted blanket - so comforting and I sleep deeper.

EastofEdna · 24/02/2021 09:12

@YetAnotherWalk - it IS open, just the grounds, so will book a slot at the weekend it will be a welcome change - thanks for the nudge.

@MuddyWalk5007 is the face yoga like the lion pose? I know if I do my neck/head stretches early on in the day it spurs me on to finish the routine.

Got out for a walk last night, it was raining but I was all cosy and wrapped up and listened to a couple of podcasts. If anyone is interested in science-y subjects The Life Scientific is a good one. Last night's were Turi King, a forensic geneticist who worked on the Richard III remains in the Leicester car park, Robin Dunbar how we've evolved to be sociable; and then one to finish today was a virologist (Jonathon Ball) on how viruses mutate. Sometimes they can be a bit dry but last night's were very entertaining and informative - they must have been given I can remember their names!

The trainer I was training with thinks we will be back mid April - so I want to get back weight wise to where I was with him when I was steadily losing maybe a pound a week; so nearly 7 weeks to lose the 4 pounds I put on - easily doable I think.

Have a good day everyone.

DontFuckingCallMeCis · 24/02/2021 09:16

Start drinking AF drinks.
You will sleep SO much better.
Your skin will look brighter.
You will be less grumpy.
You will loose weight.

Yoga deffo. Even for 10 mins a day will make you feel better.

Epsom salts baths. Salt drains impurities. Soaking in it Relaxes us and changes our mood for the better.

Namaste OP 🙏✨💖

DontFuckingCallMeCis · 24/02/2021 09:17

Oooo yes and podcasts / reading books! 👍

YetAnotherWalk · 24/02/2021 12:31

Great @EastofEdna

Hope today is better @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl

Tired = eating carbs = tired. A cycle I can't seem to get out of at the moment... Waiting to speak to GP about health stuff. Will chase them if I haven't heard by Friday as the lady who saw me on Friday said the report would be with the GP by Monday - everything is so slow with Covid!!!

Waves to everyone else!

MuddyWalk5007 · 24/02/2021 12:43

Ive not had a chance to look into the face yoga yet but it’s a YouTube link. Not sure what it entails yet.

I’ve got some Epsom bath salts. A soak and a facial tonight it is then.
I’ll just take my speaker in and listen to something at the same time.
I’m really looking forward to it now Smile
As for the rest of the day, I’ve done some work, been ‘dinner lady’ for lunchtime. We’re going out for a walk after school today and I’ve got lots of fruit for snacks.
I must remember to keep drinking water! It’s just something I always forget. I’ve only had 1 glass today.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

Nice thread.

I am trying to:

  • have a dance with 1kg weights 3 times a day to three cheesy pop songs
  • have a walk every day, even if it's only for half an hour
  • be much better at using moisturiser morning and night and hand cream when ever I think of it
  • do a neck/shoulders yoga session at least every other day
@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie would you mind sharing a link for the neck/shoulders yoga session if it’s online please?
MistakenAgain · 24/02/2021 22:06

Mmm i am going to make a list of small changes.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 24/02/2021 22:25

Today's been a bit better thank you @YetAnotherWalk. DS1 hasn't been so much of a horror and I got some helpful info from a webinar. The house is still an utter tip but I'm closing my eyes until w/c March 8th!

Those podcasts sound interesting @EastofEdna. Hope you got a slot for your NT visit Smile

EastofEdna · 25/02/2021 08:40

Morning everyone

@DontFuckingCallMeCis - do you mean Alcohol Free by AF? Sorry being thick.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl - got a slot for on Sunday - very excited for a change of scenery. Hope DS1 is continuing to be less of a horror.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie - another one interested in the face/neck yoga if you have a link.

@MistakenAgain - a list of small things very quickly snowballs!

I have got an hour today when I am not in meetings. I will use it wisely. I am sorting through my books to see which ones can be recycled/disposed off and what can be kept. Generally this is a distracting task as I come across an old favourite - The Secret Garden is currently shouting 'read me' from the pile. I find it hard to get rid of books, even the ones that have been a bit 'meh'.

I best get to my desk and start work Smile

MischiefManager · 26/02/2021 12:33

Had a really stressful few days for various reasons so really need to up some of these things. I've noticeably reverted to caffeine, mindless scrolling and being inactive just when I need to do the opposite. Must pull myself out of this funk. Even the spring sunshine isn't helping today!
