I like the idea of a ‘wellness journey’

MuddyWalk5007 · 23/01/2021 00:21

I think I need one. I’m going a bit loopy.
Comfort eating has brought me discomfort. My clothes, when I get changed into them from my ‘loungewear’ feel rather tight.
All the doom and gloom all over the internet has made me feel gloomy.

I want to feel well again.
What do I need to do? I think I could do with more yoga and soup in my life. I can start off with that. That sounds like it belongs in a ‘wellness journey’
What else can I do?

@MischiefManager - sounds horrible Flowers

I had an eventful walk last night, midway round an email popped up from paypal, confirmation of a payment. I assumed it was spam. Nope. I have apparently sent a spendy amount to a Facebook donation page. Tried the resolution page for Paypal but they say no unauthorised payment was made - not sure what to do next. What I won't be doing is diving into a tub of ice-cream to compensate...

I am looking forward to the weekend to do a bit of a reset.

Hope everyone else is having a good day - it's very bright here.

YetAnotherWalk · 26/02/2021 20:10

Good luck all. we managed 2 walks so I am shattered!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 26/02/2021 22:48

Did you get your PayPal issue sorted @EastofEdna? I had to phone them recently about something and they were really helpful. Perhaps they could help more on the phone than via their resolution centre?

It's tough to find motivation to get active sometimes isn't it @MischiefManager; I find myself thinking "oh I'll just have ten minutes looking through my phone" but ten minutes quickly turns into twenty, thirty etc...! Sending Flowers for your stressful time anyway.

We did a slightly longer walk today, planning a longer one tomorrow too. Depends if I can get DP to get his arse into gear any time early enough Hmm

MischiefManager · 27/02/2021 08:15

Oh no @EastofEdna that's a nightmare! Hope you get your money back.

Thanks @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl

Still not feeling quite right but yesterday I did some gardening and soaked up some lovely spring sunshine, took the dog for a lovely walk, enjoyed an early evening bath with a face mask, read a few chapters of my book.

Gardening, walking, baking and a face time catch up with my mum planned today. Plus it's our tradition al homemade pizza and movie night tonight with the kids.

Hope everyone had a great day and managed to enjoy some sunshine ☀️

YetAnotherWalk · 27/02/2021 12:31

Morning all

Hope you get your walk @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl

Pizza night is good @MischiefManager and much nicer if home made.

Hope you get your money back @EastofEdna

Spent an hour and a half in the park with my face or back in the sun - lovely. Now looking at planters to sort out some of the front garden that's been very neglected!

EastofEdna · 27/02/2021 16:56

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl @MischiefManager @YetAnotherWalk Money back - got an email from PayPal services today saying that they had looked at the case and refunded the money back into my PP account. I didn't realise I could also look at the donations via my Facebook privacy settings; so had also gone down that route. What a palaver. It was 180 quid so not a small amount. But when I went down the FB route they refunded the wrong sodding donation - one for a tenner; which I'll have to re-do.

Two hour walk out today and a trip to the tip; the yard is looking less junky - ready for some spring plants.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 27/02/2021 22:20

That must be a real weight off your mind @EastofEdna Smile did they say how the error had happened?

Hope you are recovered now @MischiefManager? Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday!

We did manage a walk (well, trip to the park, but it was a large park so there was walking involved!) @YetAnotherWalk. It was so nice to feel some sunshine again! The park was busy though - as expected - a shame for the DC, but DP will not get his arse into gear to leave the house any earlier, no matter how many times I tell him that it's best to go as early as we can to beat the crowds...

YetAnotherWalk · 28/02/2021 21:17

That's good @EastofEdna Not an insignificant amount of money!

We've always made a point of going out early @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl Quiet when we got to our spot this morning and filling up by 11:45 when we got back to the car.

One more week of homeschooling, but such a long list of neglected things that need dealing with once they're back and then waiting for someone's bubble to pop... had a cry earlier as feeling so overwhelmed!

EastofEdna · 28/02/2021 21:26

it was - no real explanation from either PP or Facebook, although I was surprised the FB message was from a 'real' person.

It's been a long, but good, day. Got out and did another day of C25K, with 2 x 10 mins of running and just got off the exercise bike and got some DIY done this afternoon.

Next week is our financial Year End so there will no doubt be some stress; but I am well prepared!

Hope everyone's weekend was good.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 28/02/2021 22:14

I completely empathise with needing a cry @YetAnotherWalk; my to do list is as long as your arm Confused and to start with the house needs a really good clean, small DC at home 24/7 does not make for a clean and tidy place!! I just feel like I have so much to get through to even be back at where I was pre-Christmas Sad

But yes, I really prefer getting out of the house early - 9.30am latest - getting the DC out and active, then home for lunch before things get busy. In the afternoon I usually do another park trip/ local walk with them too but a shorter one. It was a lovely weekend here, wonderful to see some sunshine again.

I definitely think they owe you an explanation @EastofEdna, imagine if taking that money had left you in real financial hardship? When I had lots of debt it was the sort of situation I dreaded. Glad to hear you enjoyed today and got plenty of exercise in; I've done 15K today for the first time in a very long time, I'll be aching tomorrow!

MuddyWalk5007 · 01/03/2021 13:46

Glad you got your money back @EastofEdna. What a a pain.

I’ve had lunch and have been lazing around since then. Really need to get on with some work then go for a walk.
We’ve got a foot spa which I love so
I’m thinking foot spa and face masking While watching tv tonight.

@EastofEdna so glad you got your money back.

Still feeling quite stressed and yesterday was a tricky day is many ways but still determined to take care of myself to focus on the positives and to practice gratitude.
Lovely hot shower and took time to apply my favourite body cream.
Decluttered the kitchen.
Lovely walk in the woods with the dog and kids.
Made more exciting plans for the business over a mug of tea and slice of homemade cake.
Enjoyed eggs from our hens for lunch and they are now laying well enough for us to start selling them again.

EastofEdna · 02/03/2021 10:53

@MischiefManager - sounds like you are getting there in managing the stress. I need to take a leaf from your book. There are organisational changes being announced where I work this week, and I know, as a contractor, I will be impacted. I have at least until the end of March in work. Yesterday, when the meeting invites went out, I was resisting the temptation to eat my way through it. I had an early bath and laid off the caffeine as I know it doesn't help me sleep. I went for a long walk this morning before starting work and listened to a soundscape on Headspace - Jungle Canopy - I highly recommend it.

Waves to everyone, have a good day.

MischiefManager · 03/03/2021 13:38

Definitely getting there @EastofEdna I feel a bit better again today.

Yesterday I...
Managed a hot shower without children joining me!
Decluttered another room.
Baked cookies and enjoyed one with a cup of tea.
Painted my nails.
Had an early night.

YetAnotherWalk · 03/03/2021 21:46

Hope you are OK @EastofEdna

Sounds like you're doing well @MischiefManager

Feel like I'm totally falling apart here. Grey and cold weather this week really hasn't helped!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 03/03/2021 22:13

@MischiefManager I would love to have some hens! I know we have foxes round here though so it wouldn't be practical. A shame as it would form part of my 'Good Life' fantasy with some rabbits and guinea pigs, a dog or two and me baking my own bread Grin

Cold and grey here too @YetAnotherWalk - it's been a tough week and I'm just struggling through thinking of the DC finally returning to school on Monday. All my plans are on hold till then but I'm already groaning at the thought of how much housework is required...

Hope the news at work isn't too bad @EastofEdna?

MischiefManager · 04/03/2021 08:02

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl we are surrounded by farmland so there is almost certainly a fox near by. We shut them up in a fox proof run at night and so far have had no issues. The last house we lived at a fox came early one morning and took a few of our birds. It's always a risk with hens but I wouldn't let it stop you, they are totally worth the risk. We're considering adding ducks this year. I have dreams of the good life too! Bake a lot of my own bread, grow our own veg, left my job and started my own business from home so I'm getting there! I think that is by far the best thing for my overall well-being!

MischiefManager · 04/03/2021 08:09

Forgot to list some things from yesterday. I'm finding it helps me to focus on the positives while things are tricky.

I prepped the potato bed in the garden ready for hopefully getting the first earlies in in the next couple of weeks.
Made Welsh cakes for after school snack - never made them. Score but they were a hit!
Saw a pair of long tailed tots on our new bird feeder. I've put a new one up that I can see from the kitchen window but some of the birds are only just getting brave enough to visit.
Got an email to say my veg seeds are on their way.
Had some lovely messages from customers.
Managed another hot shower without children visiting!
I had lost a bit more weight when I got on the scales yesterday.

So overall a pretty good day really Smile
Hope everyone else has a lovely day today.

inappropriateraspberry · 04/03/2021 08:15

Sleep, meditation/quiet time, reading, eating well, exercise.
Sounds good, I might join you.

EastofEdna · 04/03/2021 10:48

@MischiefManager, @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl - well the changes were much more brutal than anyone had anticipated; enough to make the news. I will still be working till end of March definitely so for me it was as expected. I am all good, thank you for asking. The potential to take a couple of months off when I finish is very tempting!

Onwards! Have a good day all.

MischiefManager · 04/03/2021 11:12

@EastofEdna sorry it wasn't better news

HurryUpSunshine · 05/03/2021 09:01

What oils do you cook with @hamstersarse ?

EastofEdna · 05/03/2021 14:27

Today has been better than yesterday - bit of comfort eating going on, but back on track today.

I had a lush smoothie today made with frozen mangos, almond milk, some coconut milk and protein powder it was like ice-cream, but an appetite killer at the same time.

Will go for a walk in a bit as I need to get away from my desk; I've really not got much to do today and could have been massively productive but the day has gone in some mindless surfing of the net. At least I can close down email in a bit and start the weekend!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

YetAnotherWalk · 06/03/2021 15:13

Hope you're doing OK today Edna The smoothie sounds lovely.

Not much to report. Put a caramel wash in wash out colour thing on and if anything it's made my brown hair darker so the greys are more obvious Confused not what I'd hoped for, really!

Cold and grey and bored with it all now!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 06/03/2021 21:53

Hope you are enjoying the weekend @EastofEdna; a shame about your work but hopefully you will get some time to look around for something more suitable/ enjoyable? I'm job hunting again now after 5 years as a SAHM but have no idea what I want to do Confused

@YetAnotherWalk I colour my hair myself, have done for years, but I gave up on the wash in wash out ones as the ones I liked were hardly noticeable, whereas of course the ones I didn't wouldn't wash out! One orange hair incident later, I swapped to a different type...

Utterly shattered here after heavy AF week. Hoping that I'll get a bit more time to recover once the DC are back at school on Monday
