Chatting at work today and it came to light that of the 5 of us, 3 still live in the same town as they were born in.

I moved a lot as a child and (having used a distance calculator) have worked out I live 445miles from where I was born.

This is the one I used if you're interested in working your's out. www.distancecalculator.net/

200 yards, I moved 1980ish moved back 3 years ago.

Nenevalleykayaker · 18/01/2021 20:59

68 miles.

But I’ve lived in 48 different towns, villages and cities since birth, so have travelled here in a very roundabout way.

It’s the last place I would have chosen to end up in (and indeed, I didn’t choose it), but marriage and kids have rooted me (for now Grin )

HighHambross · 18/01/2021 20:59

5416 miles away

Roselilly36 · 18/01/2021 21:00

jennymac31 · 18/01/2021 21:00

Me - 200 miles
DH - same city but different area, as his family moved when he was 6 months old.

WhatTheFoot · 18/01/2021 21:01

7 miles

burblish · 18/01/2021 21:01

Almost 5,000 miles at present. The furthest I have lived from my birthplace is over 8,600 miles away.

tobee · 18/01/2021 21:01

7.5 miles. I've never lived more than 22.5 miles from where I was born. But I was raised in the commuter belt for London. But then moved at 19 to London tube area which feels totally different to growing up in suburbia.

Mochatatts · 18/01/2021 21:02

31737 miles from where I was born. I've probably covered alot of miles since then too

MissSmiley · 18/01/2021 21:02

5 miles

movingtokenthelpplease · 18/01/2021 21:03

10,503 miles! And feels further at the moment.

lastqueenofscotland · 18/01/2021 21:03

350 ish miles. I’ve lived all over. I was always desperate both physically and metaphorically to be very very far away from where I was from.

Fuckety · 18/01/2021 21:04

My garden backs on to the building that used to be our town cottage hospital where I was born. I have lived in other places, just ended up back where I started.

MadisonAvenue · 18/01/2021 21:04

2 miles. I’ve never lived further than 2 miles away, although in different houses.
Until we moved to this house though we lived directly opposite to what used to be the town maternity hospital, so for 16 years I lived about 100 yards away from where I was born.

My parents have lived in the house I grew up in for 50 years.

Cookie79 · 18/01/2021 21:04

About 20 metres. I live on the site of a hospital that is now a housing estate. It was a workhouse in its previous life and our back garden wall is the original workhouse boundary). Many original buildings have been kept. DH was born here too. Lived in various towns around 5-15 miles away over the years. Currently here but moving up to the coast this year as it’s something we’ve always wanted to do.

fairydustandpixies · 18/01/2021 21:04

About 200 miles.

movingtokenthelpplease · 18/01/2021 21:05

Schoolhouse123 · 18/01/2021 21:05

12 miles, next town over.

tobee · 18/01/2021 21:08

Just looked on AA Route Planner and I only live 17.3 miles from my parents in their 80s but haven't seen them since July so feels like hundreds of miles. Sad

HiveQueen · 18/01/2021 21:10

When I left home I was less than 5 mile away from the house I grew up in. When I moved into my current house I’m only half a mile away.

NoZoomAtTheInn · 18/01/2021 21:11

4 miles - I love my home town!

BlackCatsRule88 · 18/01/2021 21:14

100 miles

PickAChew · 18/01/2021 21:17

About 250 miles.

DH is less than 15.

FallenSkies · 18/01/2021 21:18

The hospital I was born in was 9 miles from my childhood home. I now live 7 miles away from the hospital, and 3.5 from said childhood home.

I have always known I wanted to live close to the area I grew up in, and a contributing factor to splitting with an ex was that he wanted to move to live by the sea at some point.

I love where I live.

Fruitflylady · 18/01/2021 21:21

6775 miles
