The amount of “merry Christmas” posts I’ve seen on social media today. It’s tomorrow ffs. The name is in the title “Christmas day”

OP posts:

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Christmas Eve as a kid was almost more magical than Christmas Day itself..
The glorious anticipation.
Best Christmas Eve ever was when Dad dropped me off at Richmond Swimming Pool while he went shopping, and I was the only one at the pool..
Pristine smooth water, and the lifeguard lent me a pair of flippers and goggles.
Loved it.
We didn’t get much in terms Of presents, but it was so magical.Smile

OMG. I wish I'd realised. We've been having fun all week drinking wine and eating delicious food and playing games, when we should have limited it to tomorrow.

jessstan1 · 24/12/2020 14:12

It's the same as Christmas cards, sent in advance of the day. Many people post greetings online because they intend to be busy and offline from now on. Not unreasonable.

Had a wry laugh at that, because if you didn’t laugh, you’d cry.

Hope the bloody thing burns itself out.

I've been saying Merry Christmas to people for over a week. What rules says you can only do it on Christmas Day?

yossell · 24/12/2020 14:24

It's NUMBER, not AMOUNT ffs.

Merry Christmas!

Who sits on social media all Christmas Day? Take a break from it.
Nameandgamechange123 · 24/12/2020 14:33

It's the main event for some Scandinavian folk. Why are you so angry?

So are cards meant to be sent on the 25th and arrive on the same day ?

You're just deliberately winding people up, as presumably you think it's clever and funny Hmm

Toddlerteaplease · 24/12/2020 14:46

Totally agree OP. It the Last day Of Advent. Christmas starts tomorrow.

Spuriously17windows · 24/12/2020 14:52

Audreyseyebrows · 24/12/2020 14:54

As long as they aren’t saying merry Christmas Day or happy 25th December etc I think they are just wishing you seasons greetings.

Merry Christmas @ComeOnGordon

andawaywego · 24/12/2020 14:57

Well creme eggs are in my local shop, so technically christmas is over. Right everyone, let's start deciding on our easter plans. Beef or lamb?

Boxofsaltsachets · 24/12/2020 15:05

You'll really hate me then because I've opened ALL my presents and just eaten my Christmas dinner! As well as wished my nearest and dearest a Merry Christmas.
A day early.
The horror!
I am on a 14 hour shift tomorrow though, will get 2x30 min breaks if I'm lucky. Don't fancy trying to cram a Christmas dinner down my throat in that time frame, or when I get home past 11.
But don't worry, I consider myself suitably chastised.
Merry Christmas (I'll be too busy tomorrow 😊) 🎅🎄

Tigerstripe20 · 24/12/2020 15:07

I wished my colleagues who were online today
Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays
Happy festive break

As we have many who dont celebrate, celebrate or are from other nations who say the inclusive happy Holidays

Now I bet they are all saying how dare I as it's not Christmas day :)

knittingaddict · 24/12/2020 15:10

All the housework has been done here, sprouts prepped and carrots peeled, grandchildren have had a sweet from the sweet jar and we are watching a film on the tv. Feels like the start of Christmas to me.

CorianderQueen · 24/12/2020 15:10

So you know it's Christmas where you live but you're mad at people for celebrating as per their culture?

You're a weird frog aren't you

IamMariahScarey · 24/12/2020 15:21

Merry Christmas grinch

EasterIssland · 24/12/2020 15:23

Spanish here. Our main day is tonight starting the celebration with a big dinner

Merry Christmas !

Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 24/12/2020 15:28

12 day festival innit?

RaininSummer · 24/12/2020 15:28

I would be too busy cooking, then eating, drinking and opening presents to even look at social media on Christmas day so I expect that is why most people send their messages early. Also Christmas cards gave the same sentiment and they arrive from the end of November it seems.
