The amount of “merry Christmas” posts I’ve seen on social media today. It’s tomorrow ffs. The name is in the title “Christmas day”

OP posts:

Omg, don't be such a bloody grump!

PurplePansy05 · 24/12/2020 11:40

Well it is Christmas from today in continental Europe, so Merry Christmas.

People in Britain may well also be off and not wanting to be on SM tomorrow.

As some PPs have said, for many people Christmas Eve is when their main celebration is.

andannabegins · 24/12/2020 11:46

Is it not so people can say happy Christmas then get off social media for Christmas?

Backwardsuptheescalator · 24/12/2020 11:49

Frohe Weihnachten 🎄

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/12/2020 11:50

Merry Christmas is a thing that you say to people on the last occasion that you communicate with them before Christmas Day. It's a wish for them for the future. As such you can say it anytime for several weeks beforehand. If they are not planning to be on social media on Christmas morning (and who has time for that) then it is correct etiquette to say it now IMO.

ballsdeep · 24/12/2020 11:50

Merry Christmas @ComeOnGordon

I can't believe you live in an area where it is essentially Christmas day today, and you're cross that people are saying merry Christmas today....
Have a bucks fizz and chill out!! Xmas Grin

Merry Christmas OP!

I think it’s because they don’t intend on logging on to social media tomorrow because they’ll be spending time with family/getting pissed or whatever. Of all the very many things that annoy me on social media, this is near the bottom Grin

TillyTopper · 24/12/2020 11:53

Sure "Merry Christmas" is for the whole period? We don't speak to many friends on Christmas Day itself (just family) so we tend to get Christmas wishes from friends before hand.

Sally872 · 24/12/2020 11:54

Merry ChristmasGrin
