I have seen someone (UK) post pictures of their kids opening the elf present, the Christmas Eve stocking with their Christmas Eve boxes for tonight?? That made me a bit 🤨 but each to their own. I've been eating chocolate and drinking snowballs for a couple of days!

OP, they are wishing you a "Merry Christmas" meaning that they hope you have a happy Christmas on the day/over the entire festive period. Giving people good wishes for the future is quite a normal thing to do surely.

Continental Europe here and Christmas is today. Tomorrow will be a normal day, just that most shops and the post office, doctors etc will be closed. It's all about tonight.
