@Jourdain11 @DominaShantotto + others. Flowers Flowers

My mum was practically on her knees on the kitchen floor crying.

DB has not been in the house for many months and was going to come on Boxing Day like he normally does. Im so scared for DMs mental health. And NO ONE NO ONE wants to be on the business end of bros temper. Im so frightened for my family. And this fear is not Covid. Its the abuse being meted out to us.

Parents are now really digging their heels in over not having the vaccine. I had thought there would have been some way i could change their minds. But after todays shitshow? Not a chance.
They are too bloody angry And at 84 they are high risk.

Boris and Chums have fucked this. They have REALLY fucked it.

MercyBooth · 20/12/2020 00:21

To clarify My brother wasnt there. He was on the phone.

Hey Mercy I was wondering how you were.

I’m sorry, I wish I could say something to make it better.

rosette have you considered deleting the app?

What’s the old lady and two meters thing? I guess it’s a story from before I joined?

I don't mind contributing to research and Tim Spector seems relatively sane. Just a kick in the teeth when it suggests there is an extremely low chance of me passing Covid on to any grannies (mine or otherwise). The whole thing has been handled woefully. I can't believe that three days ago that knucklehead was describing this very situation as "inhumane".

I would be on the phone to my brother threatening him with the police for making malicious phone calls to your mum. That should take the wind out of his sails.

rosettesforjill · 20/12/2020 00:34

Also, he made my wonderful MIL cry and fuck him for that.

I think it was just who misunderstood.

The abuse Mercy refers to is abuse by government.

MercyBooth · 20/12/2020 02:42

I can't get my head around posters saying "he hasn't cancelled Christmas, it's just a date, you can do it at home with your household". IMO the reason it remains such an important festival/holiday even in secular society because it represents a time to come together with loved ones in the cold, winter months. Whatever faith you are, because it's not just about being a Christian holiday and there's all sorts of similar ones in others, it's about togetherness, a sense of belonging and a celebration of the 'tribe' you have. Saying you can just eat turkey at home without your wider family/friends defeats the object.

(Obviously if your preference is to have it small/alone/just with the cats then that's fine too, but it's just how I see the general view of it in the country).

Thanks for everyone who is struggling at the moment.

JamSarnie · 20/12/2020 07:09

Seeing the pictures of everyone trying to get out of London while they could legally and I think I don't blame them one little bit. To criminalise people wanting to see their friends and family leaves a very nasty taste in my mouth.

Sonicthehedgehogg · 20/12/2020 07:17

I'd be doing the exact same thing and know people who have (I live in SW so know a fair few who have moved to London for work who rang parents to beg to be able to come to stay). But that's not an option for so many people. And there will be the usual knobbers on my local rag's web page complaining about dirty Londoners coming here with all their horrible germs.

wanderings · 20/12/2020 07:21

Morning all.

Waiting for the public backlash, it simply must happen now. So many headlines this morning have said "virus cancels Christmas" (ordered to say it by the clowns?); it should be "Boris cancels Christmas".

We need an uprising where the public are yelling "crucify him!", about our glorious leader. I really hope the public don't take this lying down, and that we see massive protests on Christmas Day itself. I'm sorry about the police who would be called out then, but what the government is doing now is MENTAL ABUSE, pure and simple. In the words of the clown himself, it is "inhumane". Saint Boris must not be forgiven for this. As he chose a time (deliberately, perhaps?) when MPs would not be able to retort, or vote it down, he thought "I can make my Cromwellian speech, and that's the end of it". There must be resistance. We need it. This brainwashing, creeping authoritarianism and edicts based on lies must come to an end.

And the fucking government didn't even bother to acknowledge the pain they're causing. And I bet that lots of MPs will break the roolz, probably even Saint Boris himself will, and get away with it, just like fucking Scummings.

Just catching up with the thread. I think this has already begun.

Thanks to @MercyBooth, @Jourdain11 and anyone else suffering right now. Wish I could hug you all.

RobinHobb · 20/12/2020 07:25

I'm just feeling flat
I didn't realise how much I was looking forward to going - seeing family, kids getting to see their grandparents, the Christmas, all of it. The thought of another week at home with sod all to do except the FUCKING walk, I don't even want to get out of bed. Except both kids are awake,

It's the nanny state gone mad. You can't prevent people from catching an airborne cold like virus. And shutting down human contact for this long - it's so wrong and inhumane.

Here’s an unpopular opinion (but feel safe expressing it here) - GOOD. I’m glad there’s a new more infectious but no more dangerous strain of covid. Let the fucker spread like wildfire so we reach herd immunity faster and it can burn itself out! All we are doing is delaying the inevitable and surely the more young and non-vulnerable that get it, not needing medical assistance, the better. Elderly and vulnerable can sit tight for a couple of months while it spreads and then we can all be free?
I’m early 40’s and had covid end of October. I felt a bit rough for 3 days with a headache and watched tv from the sofa. Apart from losing my smell and taste at the end of the 3 days, that’s it!! In complete honesty, if nobody had heard of covid I would have thought “oh that was a bit of a stronger cold bug than normal” and moved on. Nobody gets to hear of such cases though, it’s all “look at me on my cpap machine” or Dave from Kent, live from his hospital bed, pleads “please don’t leave your house ever again or you’ll end up like me”

Yes I thought this too But actually I'm beginning to feel the world has gone mad, and we won't be let out/released either way. Another very eloquent poster said it on an the last thread: I don't think there is a wider conspiracy but I think it's a massive failure of politics, with a nanny state that is terrified to let people take responsibility in case they are blamed. Many people I know are isolating in advance of meeting parents, without having been asked. Social contact is necessary and it is how the human race evolved: this is cruel
Lostinacloud · 20/12/2020 08:13

And while I’m on my soapbox Grin Usually I cant stand the media and I think they have played a large part in the mass hysteria, at times acting as no more than a far reaching propaganda wheel for the government. However, over this Christmas period I hope beyond all hope that they will do what they do best and hide in bushes outside MP’s homes to see if they really do stick to their own rules.
