That's terrible Jourdain, she and you have a lot to cope with Flowers

SirSamuelVimes · 19/12/2020 19:14

Oh @Jourdain11, so much love to your family. Flowers

Littlebelina · 19/12/2020 19:16

Flowers @Jourdain11

mightbealittlebitmad · 19/12/2020 19:17

It's an option, it's just a bit far with the kids to do it all in one day. Another option is to stay overnight in a Travelodge potentially Christmas Eve but I don't relish the thought of spending Christmas Eve with all 4 of us cramped together in one room, I would prefer to just stay at home. I don't have an issue with having a quiet Christmas, it's the fact that we are forced into having a quiet evening for months on end. I have resigned myself to a long January lockdown so this would have been a respite and a change of scenery and a chance to see each other before Easter.

Recycledblonde · 19/12/2020 19:17

I ventured onto the Quick poll thread, that was a mistake. Apparently mental health issues doesn’t cut it as a reason to disobey the rules, only a terminal illness where the person will be dead soon counts. Personally I think that is an evil thing to say, don’t these idiots realise that mental health issues can kill too especially in the young and the old. Their utter thoughtlessness made me so angry.😡😡

Will Travelodge be open?
Littlebelina · 19/12/2020 19:18

@hohohopeless

What a crock! Our Christmas day was always going to be small but I was hoping for a chance to see other family members at some point. I got a great gift for my parents (they live 90 miles away, same Tier 3) but it's very breakable so I'm loathe to mail it.

It will keep.

Had a quick trip out to get new bedding for DS newly decorated bedroom. Matalan is now all self service tills. What's that all about? I'm pleased my item didn't have a magnetic tag as I was struggling enough to scan, remove hanger, pay and bag up whilst sweating in my face mask. I want to be served properly goddammit!

Matalan self service tills are the worst. Essentially the normal tills but you do it yourself. Ours had normal tills open but only if you were paying cash. So there was a queue for self service but not the normal tills
Sonicthehedgehogg · 19/12/2020 19:19

Checking in. A lot of tears and half a bottle of wine and I'm back into my wise mind (DBTers, you get me? 😁)

@TooManyButtons There's a fair few NHS staff of us here, don't feel alone.

I agree. I am so angry at how people are dismissing mental health issues as not as important. Probably from the same hypocrites who post memes pretending to care about suicide prevention.
justasking111 · 19/12/2020 19:20

@Jourdain11

Checking in. Waves hello and I'm so sorry, everyone. It's shit.

DD1 was in hysterical tears for the 2 hours, saying that the world is too horrible and scary, she wants to die, trying to self-harm. She's thankfully worn herself out enough to fall asleep. My eight year old daughter Sad It's too sad.

So sorry my GP friend is flat out with mental health patients mainly the young which she has never in 30 years practice seen. Tell your daughter she's among a lot of sad young people just now 😪
NoisyBrain · 19/12/2020 19:24

Delurking for the first time in ages to share in the shitness.

Got a disappointed 7 year old DS here who was looking forward to seeing his GPs and auntie for the first time in ages at Christmas. DSIs and I are now planning a Christmas Eve exchange of gifts in an outdoor car park. So festive!

@Jourdain11 Flowers

Fucksake.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 19/12/2020 19:26

Flowers @Jourdain11. That’s awful, your poor DD. I can’t bear what this year has done to children and young people.

Justgivemewine · 19/12/2020 19:28

Flowers @Jourdain11, your poor dd, she’s had so much to deal with already.

@Recycledblonde, totally agree. MH illness becomes terminal if it leads to suicide.

MissEWeatherwax · 19/12/2020 19:35

I’ve shared that ‘ Do they know it’s Covid ‘ YouTuber video to all my family. What brilliant editing.
Watching Strictly and I’ve have two can of beers, so feeling quite drunk. Yes, I’m a cheap date, light weight. I don’t think crying and drinking is a good combination Blush
The only positive is I’m not in tier 4/Wales/Scotland. Flowers to all affected.

Reedwarbler · 19/12/2020 19:37

I am continuing with my plans for Christmas, such as they are. I don't give a fuck about whether I can or can't, although as a tier 2 I don't think it's any different.
Enough of these government lies and u turns. Do we really consent to this? I don't. I will no longer be wearing a mask for example. Fuck the government, fuck the lot of them. From now on I am totally doing my own thing.

permanentlyexhaustedpigeon · 19/12/2020 19:38

Felt angry yesterday at the 'leaking' - will they? won't they? - (and last-minute change of plans) and just felt depressed after that last statement.
Now back to cross again that the actual rules haven't been updated on the gov.uk website.
I don't dare go on facebook; there are a lot of FB friends who have been pleading with people to "just hang on for a little longer!" since March, usually with a "and remember - it's all about being creative! No need to feel isolated when you can play a fun game over Zoom or go for a lovely walk!"

MissEWeatherwax · 19/12/2020 19:38

Flowers to@Jourdain11.

permanentlyexhaustedpigeon · 19/12/2020 19:38

@Jourdain11 that's awful. Your poor DD.

Jourdain11 · 19/12/2020 19:38

Thank you. I hope she'll feel a bit brighter tomorrow. I'm just so tired, I don't know what to do and what to say any more. I want to think and to say that things will get better, but I feel so sad inside.

SirSamuelVimes · 19/12/2020 19:44

I will also be reducing mask compliance. I'm not wearing one in the school playground at pick up / drop off anymore.

AcornAutumn · 19/12/2020 19:44

I think they think those of us consider/commit suicide are the weak and should be weeded out.

I’m so glad I got my prescription yesterday. I think there’ll be a clampdown on tranquillisers and the dealers will do well.

That said I have a neighbour whose husband died suddenly in summer and she was refused tranquillisers. I thought that was appalling.

Taswama · 19/12/2020 19:45

Place-marking.
Welsh SIL cancelled Boxing day visit around lunchtime due to Welsh rules and by this evening it was all moot anyway.
She said she might pass it to us as their cases are really high and didn't understand that DH was not in the least bit bothered about that as a risk.

I'm so sorry @jordain11 that is utterly awful. Your poor girl. Flowers

ISaySteadyOn · 19/12/2020 19:52

Offs. This sucks. I am angry now. They can fuck off to the far side of fuck and when they get there, they can fuck off some more. I too will be doing my own thing.
