Flowers, @TooManyButtons. Hope you’re not feeling too ill.

Merry Christmas, all. You’ve helped me stay sane this year.

Bollss · 25/12/2020 09:11

@TooManyButtons oh mate that's shit! Bastarding 2020 sticking one last boot in. In your shoes I'd be ordering whatever takeaway is open and watching love actually or whatever shit film you like. Hope you're feeling alright x x

BogRollBOGOF · 25/12/2020 10:44

@TooManyButtons, more rubbish you didn't need. Takeaway sounds great advice. I love Indian... slowly training the DCs up and they can now do Bhuna Grin

We've been up and back to bed while the DCs play. Going to go walkies soon then the DCs can have their big present then I'll do dinner (5 bird roast).

countrygirl99 · 25/12/2020 12:07

@toomanybuttons I hope you get better soon

Weneedmusicandtheatre · 25/12/2020 13:01

Of ffs. Just opened the turkey packaging and it is mouldy.

Oh no, I have read about that happening to people on previous years.

This seems to be a thing, heard about it a few times last couple of years. Sorry.
AcornAutumn · 25/12/2020 13:51

Is it really only ten to 2? Wow, long day!

DominaShantotto · 25/12/2020 14:15

Brother is here on the patio - arrived right to clash with lunch the little dickhead

countrygirl99 · 25/12/2020 14:18

I'm wondering how all the people who insisted they were going to do Christmas in the garden with elderly relatives are getting on. It's proper brass monkey weather here.

Was he planning to come? I thought he was a bit of a D?
Reedwarbler · 25/12/2020 15:24

The dog had a big plate of turkey a little while ago. This is where she has ended up. Out for the count. I have a large Baileys over ice, having drunk at least a bottle of sauvignon blanc. H is washing up. Happy (hic) christmas.

Reed that looks brilliant

I’ve already had to sneak a piece of cheese as I’m that hungry, and mum, already drastically underweight, is now talking about giving up sugar.

DrDiva · 25/12/2020 17:26

@Reedwarbler she matches the rug beautifully!

@TooManyButtons I hope you’ve felt reasonably ok today.

Happy Christmas everyone. We’ve had a nice day, though the overexcited and overtired 8yo is beginning to drive me to another drink!

WouldBeGood · 25/12/2020 17:53

@Reedwarbler love your dog and your wood burner and log basket

DominaShantotto · 25/12/2020 17:59

The drunks starting to appear on the motorway now - was inevitable when they made it a need to be there and back on one day. We’re nearly home and off the motorway thank goodness - could get dicey as tired people make a return trip instead of their planned overnights

Anotherthink · 25/12/2020 18:03

@TooManyButtons what a shitter, hope you've managed to rest today after an emotionally exhausting time, and that a takeaway was open for you xx

Today is such a long day isn't it, had a decent sleep, a nap and I'm looking forward to getting back into bed again two stone heavier Grin

TabbyStar · 25/12/2020 18:14

Hope everyone's okay. I was really miserable this morning and feeling sorry for myself that I always have to do all the work at Christmas but I had a nice afternoon in the end. I'm just about to take DD to her BF, then I'll be happy to be home in peace by myself. Didn't think about pissed people driving home, I was more worried about ice, but hopefully it won't be too busy.

NannyGythaOgg · 25/12/2020 19:03

I'd rather get done for staying overnight than get done for drink driving. And much rather get done for staying over than cause an accident through slowed reactions.

Taswama · 25/12/2020 19:19

Merry Christmas ADs. Sorry about your bad luck on top of your bereavement @Toomanybuttons .

Saw family here, which was lovely. DC were a bit hyper after lunch so we walked up to the deserted playground.

TabbyStar · 25/12/2020 19:46

DD said her BF was out after midnight yesterday, or rather today, and said there was a lot of traffic on the roads, he thought people who'd set off after midnight to get somewhere. Seems madness to me (of the Govt to set things up in this way) but what do I know? Confused

BogRollBOGOF · 25/12/2020 20:25

The motorway was dead in the middle of the afternoon. We went up a couple of junctions to go for a walk somewhere that we though would be fairly quiet (it was!)
4 lanes and only a car or two in sight!

Oh of course...there’d be a lot of midnight journeys wouldn’t there. So I guess the roads will be v busy with people trying to get home by midnight too.

Yeah we left about half three to head back - roads dead till about 6pm - but a few quite clearly drunk drivers struggling to stay in lanes (we gave a WIDE berth) and it was starting to get busier when we got off the M1 about half 6/7ish.

Kids have stayed at grandparents for the holiday so I can get as far ahead as possible with uni as I fear them deciding to close the schools.

Brother would only meet up in the garden from 2m away with my new nephew - was very disapproving we'd broken the rules to go up early - but he's always a disapproving little shitebag where I'm concerned.

DominaShantotto · 25/12/2020 20:47

We feared the midnight journeys too - hence setting off back at teatime - I was struggling with people overload after so long with just me, dh and the kids and needed to get back to my comfort zone I guess (and my mum and me together are not a good combination longer term).
