@AcornAutumn i think most people are too fed up to take part.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 24/12/2020 19:13

@WingingItSince1973 that sounds terrifying Thanks

LivinLaVidaLoki · 24/12/2020 19:34

Anyway, I'm keeping offline for a day or two now, so just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas. Thank you for the laughs, the optimism and the lack of judgy pants.

You've all been completely amazing and I'm glad we found each other, you amazing malakas (FYI it's a term of endearment-randomly-between friends).

Love you all!

Iheartmysmart · 24/12/2020 19:41

Same as Livin. I’d like to wish you all a very merry Christmas whatever you are doing. I’m raising a glass to toast you wonderful people for keeping me sane over the last few months. I hope we can all gather on here this time next year with stories of our holidays and good times with friends and family. FlowersWineGin

MercyBooth · 24/12/2020 19:45

@LivinLaVidaLoki Same to you too.

Merry Christmas to you all Xmas Smile Xmas Smile Xmas Smile

NastyBlouse · 24/12/2020 19:54

Same here, checking out for a day or two. Thank you for these threads over the last few months, they really have helped maintain a sense of perspective (as well as offering wisdom, compassion, sobering thoughts and raising a good few laughs).

Merry Christmas to each and every one of you, and to any lurkers reading as well.

We put coats on and rang bells sang a bit. Did hear one other family further down the road. We looked up at the sky for 🎅 and the reindeer. Wished people out walking a merry Christmas. They must have thought we wer e touched Grin

Have a good Christmas tomorrow all you wonderful AD crowd God bless Wine

110APiccadilly · 24/12/2020 20:05

Merry Christmas all!

Anotherthink · 24/12/2020 20:12

@WingingItSince1973 they must be in absolute shock and a state of what if. If your first instinct was to hug then you couldn't have done anything else. Hope his nerves settle and they all have a peaceful Christmas!

We did the bells, the 7yo was very up for it, just enjoyed an excuse to shout down the quiet street at night I think.

Merry Christmas all Wine Will probably be online between games of monopoly Grin

SirSamuelVimes · 24/12/2020 20:20

Lots out with bells, including us, as we had a special visit from the big man round our estate courtesy of some very, very community minded and jolly people. Prob against rules but who the fuck cares. Kids saw Santa on Xmas Eve, little present given to each child, Christmas tunes blared out and much joy spread. Huzzah!!

Will be offline for next two days or so. Merry Christmas ADs. These threads have been a lifesaver this year; thank you all, every one (to paraphrase Tiny Tim).

I think in mum’s road they would realise it was not for us. Very glad they didn’t.

Curly I wanted my funeral to end with “that’s all folks” on a screen like the end of a cartoon. My sister says it’s inappropriate and will upset people!

Curlygirl06 · 24/12/2020 20:38

AcornAutumn good for you, sounds great, ignore your sister. Funeral music is moot now, as me and dh have decided to have a direct cremation, no one there for the service. We've told the kids briefly, they're fine with it.
Sorry to bring the mood down talking about funerals, but here's a funny thing my grandson said. I'd gone to collect my friend to take her shopping and we were waiting outside in the car. My grandson was in the back playing with his toys, he was about 4. I idly remarked that my friend was taking ages to come out, and without missing beat he said " oh she's old, she's probably dead!" I hasten to add she's still alive!

Happy Christmas everyone, chin up, chest out, we've got this.

AcornAutumn · 24/12/2020 20:58

Curly tbh I’d go for a direct cremation now too, we had this chat a few years ago.

I guess she won’t want to send out a death notice with “that’s all folks” on it 😂

I’m so bored. Mum’s conversation has included light bulbs. It’s safe to say I’ll be hopping on the thread tomorrow!

starfish88 · 24/12/2020 21:14

I remember teaching a couple of children aurguing over whose parents/grandparents were oldest and one came out with 'my grandad is so old he's dead, but it's OK I have another', kids are far better at coping with death than adults are!

And I would love to wish a very merry Christmas to you, wonderful, sane people! I hope sanity is restored to the world next Christmas!

Yep we're going to arrange a pre paid funeral plan next year, my fil had one, (he died last Boxing Day) and it made life so much easier, tho he didn't have a direct cremation. I love the idea of a "that's all, folks" funeral announcement, but then I'm odd!

NannyGythaOgg · 24/12/2020 21:45

And a Happy Hogswatch to you too Esme.

The Hogfather will live forever

Bollss · 24/12/2020 22:09

Merry Christmas to you all. Basically just been bullied off another thread. With the insinuation either I don't have a child or I'm neglecting one. Merry fucking Christmas. People are bastards Wine I'm not using the rest of this site anymore, that's my new years resolution.

RobinHobb · 24/12/2020 22:12

Merry Christmas all!
Thank you for all your support on these threads...

MissEWeatherwax · 24/12/2020 22:18

You too @NannyGythaOgg.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 24/12/2020 22:40

Merry Christmas to you all! 🌲🎅 I must admit it is not going to go down in history as my favourite one ever but I am trying my best. Wishing all of you joy and peace of the season

@TrustTheGeneGenie Flowers

NeedWineNow · 24/12/2020 22:48

Dropping in to say Happy Christmas to you all. You have been my lifeline through all this and it's so good to know that you are all there, not judging, in a place where we can speak freely and admit that this situation is, quite frankly, shit without anyone saying we're murders, we don't understand how bad it is, or we're just not following the Roolz.

And I still don't need to put cheese in my coffee!

AcornAutumn · 24/12/2020 22:49

Merry Christmas in a conventional tune

Merry Christmas in an AD way, perhaps for those who enjoyed my version of the Hokey Cokey

amicissimma · 24/12/2020 23:00

@TrustTheGeneGenie, it's awful when you meet a horrible person, in RL or online, but unfortunately we have to share the planet with them. On the other hand, your contributions to this thread have been part of what makes it such a vital source of support - a light in the darkness - and they outweigh a gazillion times the misery of all the nastiness on other threads.

I'd rather you didn't go, but if you do, please be absolutely certain that you have done a great deal of good through Mumsnet.
