We might be craving tiles, but we'll leave the woodchip and artex alone unless we're feeling very brave...

Welcome into another thread covering the whole range of life and death, novelty vegetables, DIY, any other randomness and musings about a certain pandemic.

That sounds like really good news Orangeblossom . Almost like an outbreak of common sense.
I've never heard of an entire family being told to self isolate. Is that a rule in one of the other nations to England.
Of course if you are a single parent to a primary school child, you probably don't have a choice if you are going to abide by the guidance.

Orangeblossom7777 · 30/11/2020 13:32

I'm unsure about the whole families part. Another positive I have noticed today is loads of jobs are being advertised locally this wee- whereas a few weeks ago it only seemed to be a few (cleaning mainly)

General jobs I mean - there are quite a few for pharmacy staff, shop work, admin, and also TAs, and opticians staff... I wonder if some people are put off customer facing posts recently as there are so many advertised...

Orangeblossom7777 · 30/11/2020 13:32

week, not 'wee' Hmm

justasking111 · 30/11/2020 13:33

Well Dripford has gone all methodist "Thou shall not drink in public" so roll on the house parties. It is bloody mad.

flower11 · 30/11/2020 13:43

I've never quite understood the rules for primary children or think that sending them home stops the spread. My friend has 3 dc she had the youngest sent home to isolate cause case in the class. Yet the other two keep going in when they are all mixing at home. That week 2 year groups were out and there were loads of siblings at the gate at drop off and pick up.

DominaShantotto · 30/11/2020 13:47

Made it into uni today (was so anxious I nearly threw up when I got there and didn't sleep last night). What a completely bleak, miserable experience - sat facing forward in lectures, sea of eyes, all interaction gone as they're not allowed to encourage students to face in any direction but straight forward... then booted out down fire escapes to exit the buildings.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 30/11/2020 13:53

Fuckity fuck, I need a hand hold. Sorry for the neediness.

My GP surgery has stopped giving out bookable appointments. You have to ring up first thing and hope. All down to Covid apparently, even though they are asking people with symptoms not to come to the surgery.

I think I've got an infection downstairs - quite prone to pelvic issues and have had them before. Couldn't get an appointment for a swab test with the nurse. Symptoms are now getting worse and I'm getting scared.

justasking111 · 30/11/2020 13:54

@DominaShantotto if we had known back in September well to be honest we kind of did we would have suggested DS took a gap year and worked at home for his brother who would have welcomed him. The stumbling block being DS had a girlfriend at uni which has cost us 20k god help us.

E mail them!!
TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 30/11/2020 13:56

Online booking also disabled now.

DominaShantotto · 30/11/2020 14:03

Ring them and tell them your symptoms have got worse and you need to be seen or you're going to have to inappropriately go to A+E.

Headteacher is "looking into" our concerns re DD2... who outdid herself this morning by getting lost on the way to find her coat. Coats are in the porch which is just by the living room door but she wandered upstairs instead!

Orangeblossom7777 · 30/11/2020 14:11

Small Clanger maybe they could do a blood test and / or as you say a swab. Could you ask for a phone appt to discuss with a GP.

justasking111 · 30/11/2020 14:14

Go to your health board and put in a complaint about the surgery that does seem to shift them.

justasking111 · 30/11/2020 14:14

Also find your mp and speak to their office.

starfish88 · 30/11/2020 14:17

Or go to A&E if it's going to need antibiotics. I've heard lots of people have found the A&E staff have been horrified when they have found people can't get doctors appointments for things like that.

amicissimma · 30/11/2020 14:19

@Orangeblossom7777

Oh good god I can already foresee a dozen threads by someone about how this will be the death of all teachers

Yes you see I am learning and therefore posting it here instead where we do discuss things but there is not that reflexive drama and negativity.

I don't have school aged DCs but as far as I can tell from the parents, teachers and governors I know, the schools round here tend only to send home close contacts. They don't seem to have had many cases in the same class.

I assumed that the repetitive teacher threads are something to do with the unions? I was very amused at the responses when the DfE bit back responded.

Handhold here. That sounds awful. Everyone has given better advice than I could but I am good at holding hands so ✋
LivinLaVidaLoki · 30/11/2020 14:55

I found that hilarious @amicissimma.

Also the grandiose self importance by declaring "The one the DFE felt the need to comment on" in the title of the next thread.

Curlygirl06 · 30/11/2020 15:26

ISaySteadyOn you crack on! If someone is not wearing a mask, that's fine, there must be a reason so SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH QUESTIONING PEOPLE. Not exactly what it says in the governments list, but it bloody well should be!

justasking111 · 30/11/2020 15:38

Dripford said sadly cases rising when he had the results 802 cases three deaths in the whole of Wales the bastard. Wee crankie 359 cases 3 deaths. I suspect a lot of these cases are swabs taken from hospital patients too. All to put us on the wagon for the foreseeable future.

Dripford said mass testing in Merthyr they did in excess of 10k swabs, but he will not give the results well I can 61 positive cases.

MercyBooth · 30/11/2020 16:04

Thanks @LivinLaVidaLoki There are also the threads that are NOT on that board that speaks volumes, I cant see one about Laurence Fox or Rita Ora. Tells me all i need to know. That certain posters over there are here to bully make sure the "plebs" keep to the roolz. But just the "plebs" mind.

Really what happened? I missed that. I remember times when it wasn't possible to be positive or they would call you a 'Tory bot' Grin that was strange..

BogRollBOGOF · 30/11/2020 17:05

I saw a reference to that but didn't see the thread it referred to. I tend to avoid school threads for some reason...

Yeah I'd like to kid myself that my children are being taught by someone who actually enjoys doing it and likes small children. Hence I avoid school threads like the plague.
