Ads crave a night on the tiles; vintage chicken, avocado or contemporary stone effect?

We might be craving tiles, but we'll leave the woodchip and artex alone unless we're feeling very brave...

Welcome into another thread covering the whole range of life and death, novelty vegetables, DIY, any other randomness and musings about a certain pandemic.

Domino
Wow how shit are they? Contradicting themselves at every turn. Why the hell are they there if not to support and facilitate kids education?
I agree re the bullying sticking plaster over a fracture worse than useless.
I hope at least your DD gets to use every bit of tech available from now on and comes on in leaps and bounds. Don't let them get complacent keep an eye on them. They dont sound like you could trust them as far as you could throw them but its a start.

Tbh you should write an email detailing the meeting, pointing out the fact that they did not tell your dd about the help she was entitled to and had had for 2yrs previously and that they had agreed she could use going firward. Also anything else pertinent they or you said. Also mention the way staff made you feel unwelcome and that theh were emphasizing how much effort it took to 'allow' you into the school. Just so you have a record. You will get a minutes but it might be different from what you experienced!
(You will probably word it better but you get the jist)

ISaySteadyOn · 02/12/2020 17:40

Yes, because surgical masks were available then.

Yesterday I picked up 7 littered masks and 6 the day before that. They weren't stopping any disease transmission.

Thats revolting. If its meant to be funny its not. If its meant to be preaching mask wearing just feck off. The nativity has nothing to do with bloody covid. Different time different place. Cant we have one damm thing this year that someone doesn't drag covid into it? And i am an atheist yet i love all things Xmassy especially the kids nativity at school! 😄
BogRollBOGOF · 02/12/2020 17:47

Xmas Envy at the pukey nativity.

@DominaShantotto, I hope that meeting is kicking their butts into the right direction, even if it is by just catching them up to where they should have been already.

DS2 skipped out of school. He's a very skippy child! He has à hug and then runs off to play chase/ ball with the other children running around (younger year groups) he just can't seem to convert it to a proper friendship.
He's put his worry about wanting "a true friend" into the class worry box.

Off to my fitness class. I've been put in to fill a space in a bonus class to compensate for my lack of zoom action. I'm much happier working out in an open sided barn than in my own lounge Grin

Oh dear god, that's appalling.

In a similar vein I was looking at our local virtual Christmas market and someone was selling baubles of Santa with a mask on and bauble plaques with 2020 and loads of quotes like 'pandemic' social distance ' pictures of loo rolls, masks etc. One of the comments was ' oh I love those, so nice to be able to look back on this'

WTAF!

@firesong @HedgieHog

The ADs are not necessarily pro or anti any specific restrictions put in place. We have a variety of views.

We respect that others will have different views, and their own knowledge and experience that feeds those views. We don't judge others for having different views. We don't try and impose our own values on others. People are allowed to be happy or sad about any aspects - and get support when feeling down. Some really shitty things have happened. We can still feel sad that we can't have a coffee with friends (for example) and we can still celebrate whatever we want to. (Be it a new baby or a new handbag or anything else)

We can mourn whatever we miss about our REAL lives prior to this, big or small.

We believe we are all adults and able to risk assess for ourselves.

We believe that part of a democracy means government being challenged and not agreeing with everything. And that people have the right to disagree (without being shut down)
We believe that people's deprivations through this are disproportionate for some people. That we may be in the same storm but we are definitely not in the same boat.

And lots of other things in the same vein

The main thing is we don't judge others who have different views except those who would like to impose their own opinions on others .

Funkypolar · 02/12/2020 19:07

Bloody hell, the people who keep “bursting into happy tears” over the vaccine. Am I living in a different world to them?

THIS should be a pinned post. Beautifully put. I was saying to DH earlier how refreshing it was for a thread to have information provided by people met with "thanks, I'll add that into my decision making it's an interesting perspective/info I didn't have before and is useful" etc. instead of "shut up Torybot!!"

hohohopeless · 02/12/2020 19:16

ugh! to the surgical mask wearing nativity scene. That's just pissed me off some more.

Enough!!

WouldBeGood · 02/12/2020 19:17

Yes! It should be pinned @NannyGythaOgg beautifully put

ISaySteadyOn · 02/12/2020 19:19

It would be nice to pin that at the top of the threads.

On a celebratory note, I will have a child who is one decade old on Friday and I will have been a mother for one decade. I don't think I have done too badly so far.

They're doing a nativity in DD2's class (I assume recorded or horrendously streamed since we're not allowed in the building) DD2 is Mary... but "there's no angels when we practiced today cos they're all off for Covid"
DrDiva · 02/12/2020 19:53

That’s so beautifully put Nanny !

DH may be a little less dementory today - he really laughed at MD being banned from Welsh pubs, and said “oh please let them do that here to the whole English government!”

Willow2017 · 02/12/2020 21:11

Sonic exactly. We read up tons of interviews and articles by actual real respected scientists not the ramblings of Wanksock, research global studies on the various ways countries have dealt with this, listened to the likes of Lord Sumpton on the legalities of governments actions, made our own decisions but are screamed at and told to "follow the science the gov know best" "are you an expert?" No but i have read what experts in epidemiology say which is more than you have! And nope the gov dont serm to have a clue they are making it up.as they go along. (back to wanksock again who cant answer a single question he is asked on anything)
These are the people screaming for restrictions who dont have 2 informed thoughts to rub together.

Exactly this

Does anyone else have that thong when you think your tension has reduced a bit, then you find yourself with a clenched jaw and shoulders round your ears and can’t concentrate on anything?

SomewhereEast · 02/12/2020 21:19

@WouldBeGood

Why are they sad the vaccine is here...? I dare not look
I mostly lurk rather than posting BUT.....thats quite terrifying.

I guess this has been heaven for germphobic homebody introverts who don't actually like anyone outside their immediate household. I just never imagined that would such a big demography.

Somewhere I’m a germophobic homebody introvert. I think it takes a different person altogether to be pro lockdown and actually be sad at the idea of it ending!

Yup. Anti depressants are helping a bit though.

To be clear, I don’t have a thong Grin

I’m on meds normally. I even had some diazepam last night and still woke up have ground my teeth so badly, I dreamt that I’d broken them and couldn’t see a dentist.

Might stick to booze tonight 😂
