Cold left over roast potatoes

I always sneak one off the plate and eat cold on their own with a pinch of sea salt. DH thinks I’m a philistine and they have to be heated up!

What do you do?

I've never put salt on the left over ones.
Nor had with salad cream!
I've been putting them straight in the dish ready for bubble and squeak for the next day.

Will obviously try this.

My DD saw me eating chicken skin last week so I gave her some. She said "why have I never had this before" she is 7.

I said "chefs rules you can't cook yet"

GiraffeNecked · 22/11/2020 21:00

I’ll have to try them cold...

Any leftover get put in an omelette, or fried up the next day....

pickingdaisies · 22/11/2020 21:01

Why would anyone only make enough for one meal? When you can have cold leftover loveliness, sprinkled with salt? You mathematicians don't know what you're missing.

GreyishDays · 22/11/2020 21:02

@Ifailed

I don't understand people who can't count - just roast enough potatoes for the planned meal.
But sometimes you don’t know how many people want?
50shadesoflunacy · 22/11/2020 21:02

Cold with salt here.

I only do bubble and squeak on Boxing Day with roasties, sprouts, carrots, parsnips fried slowly in butter. Served with turkey, ham, cranberry sauce and bread sauce!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/11/2020 21:04

Cold roast potatoes on very dark rye bread - a meal for Monday evenings. Lovely.

williowrosenburg · 22/11/2020 21:06

I used to work in a pub, and on Sunday's they would have an actual trough of cold pre roasted potatoes.... every time
I walked past I would nab one ..... Blush this was back when I was a size 6 and could eat whatever I liked 😫

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 22/11/2020 21:07

Well I eat cold sprouts as well so I'm a proper wrong un!

CheesePleaseLoueese · 22/11/2020 21:07

Cold leftover roast potatoes eaten later on/ the same day = yum.

Contrast:

Fridged roast potatoes from yesterday = yuck.

Beecham · 22/11/2020 21:07

I sometimes slice them up and fry with sliced onions, to make a Spanish tortilla of sorts. Then eat with crusty white bread and butter for double carb heaven.

Absolutely adore cold sprouts too.
IHaveBrilloHair · 22/11/2020 21:08

Dip them in mustard or horseradish and eat.

NiceGerbil · 22/11/2020 21:11

Slice up and fry have with cold meat and branston

Almost prefer the leftovers to the roast!

I always do stacks for this reason

Imagine deliberately denying yourself leftovers Shock

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 22/11/2020 21:12

I love roasties, hot and cold.

Leftover roasties, cold from the fridge, yummy, but I also like them chopped into slices and fried with cold slices of the roast, fresh veggies and reheated gravy!

S111n20 · 22/11/2020 21:12

Oh yes..... beautiful

DontBeShelfish · 22/11/2020 21:17

@MrsPnut

I dip leftover roast potatoes and parsnips in the salt pig before eating them.
I thought salt pig was a really fancy way of preparing them for a moment there. 😂
jerrywesterby · 22/11/2020 21:21

I am eating one as we speak.... high blood pressure tho so no salt... not the same Sad

CherryPavlova · 22/11/2020 21:22

Bubble and squeak.

doodleygirl · 22/11/2020 21:23

How do you plan to make just enough @Ifailed? How do you know how many potatoes everyone wants? Sometimes I may eat 3 other times I might each 6.

I make loads and most of the time we have leftovers. Cold roasties are the food of gods Grin

CherryPavlova · 22/11/2020 21:23

Or roast lunch pie.

polkadotpjs · 22/11/2020 21:23

Cold with salt and Mayo but not fridge cold

fibeee · 22/11/2020 21:24

My granny used to do this with boiled potatoes

MyGazeboisLeaking · 22/11/2020 21:26

@CherryPavlova

Or roast lunch pie.
What, pray tell, is this food of the gods?
allibebop · 22/11/2020 21:32

I always make way more than we need just so there are cold roasties for Sunday night with a glass of wine

CherryPavlova · 22/11/2020 21:37

MyGazeboisLeaking Fabulous name. It is as it sounds. My son and his friends favourite. Roast meal leftovers thrown into a pie. Layers of roast potatoes, meat, cauliflower cheese veg, stuffing, sometimes a few extra bits, if insufficient leftovers, filling a shortcrust base and puff top. Sometimes moistened with bread sauce, mustard sauce or parsley sauce. Served with gravy and root vegetable mash. Not for dieters.
