There’s a jolly hostess
Giving porridge free
She’ll provide you with shots
amaretto or what
You like to seeeeee...

Going out was in style
Now we’re stuck in this aisle
Dream of being free
And it’s hard to get by
When your arse is the size
Of the furlough feeeeeee🎤

Which is why anyone who says we need to lockdown until it's gone gets a Hmm from me.

MercyBooth · 20/11/2020 20:38

When it finally sinks in MN will probably crash because of the speed and amount of certain posters who mainly post on the other board NCing.

MercyBooth · 20/11/2020 20:40

Hancock was hinting at that today.

A journalist did ask him at the briefing what his plans were for Christmas

A subtle way of letting them know they will be being watched over the festive period as i predicted?!

TheOrchidKiller · 20/11/2020 21:02

A journalist did ask him at the briefing what his plans were for Christmas
The Health Secretary responded that he would be having turkey, roast potatoes & all the trimmings, but it was still too early to say if he would be serving custard or brandy sauce with the pudding, it all depended on how soon they could secure on online grocery delivery slot, but he hoped to have an answer in the coming months, certainly by Christmas 2021...

@MercyBooth

DH now doesnt want his flu jab. He has completely lost trust.
DH isn't sure whether to have one. It's the first year he's been offered it and I think he's worried he's going to have to queue up in the surgery car park to get it.
MercyBooth · 20/11/2020 21:08

@PinkSparklyPussyCat Completely understandable. DH said the same.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 20/11/2020 21:10

I wouldn't want to stand around in the car park with a lot of other people.

I actually couldn't do it to be honest, I'd probably faint as I'd be thinking about the injection for too long!

wanderings · 20/11/2020 21:39

@PinkSparklyPussyCat It doesn't help that the BBC website (and probably the TV news) keeps showing close ups of injections every time the haloed vaccine is mentioned.

@MercyBooth Yep. I hope the politicians are well and truly spied on over the festive period, and we get a few headlines shaming those who break the rules, and this time some resignations and sackings to go with them, unlike Her Majesty's rule-breakers Scummings and Ferrier. Did the Health Secretary have anything to add about those whose Christmas dinner comes from the food bank, as Saint Boris has made people so much poorer, by snatching their jobs away?

Whatever you think is going on, this should make you laff!

@MercyBooth

Which is ironic as it's not the flammable internals that caused the issues

Yep Tokenism To make it look like they are doing something. See closing hairdressers when the spread isnt coming from there. Seems to be a thing. Looks like numbers in my area may have gone up. I think the reason for this is ppl were angry at a. being put in tier 2 when there was no need to be (council greed) then lockdown. I dont know this for sure but maybe more ppl are starting to flout the rules a bit now because they are angry. Cases were low here until all this. It makes a sort of sense to me. Thoughts?

Thoughts are that it is a virus doing what a virus does - particularly a respiratory tract virus in winter.

The measures taken don't work - all lockdowns do is push it out further.

2 opposing things at play. Less affluent people tend to have more 'people existing in less space and, often, have a less nutritious diet.

On the other hand, they are often 'tougher' due to less 'over' cleanliness and repeated exposure.

Viruses spread more quickly in more crowded conditions but they spread - and continue to spread regardless.

I think obeying the 'rules' or not has very little to do with it in most cases. Being sensible about the number of people you come into contact with does.

BUT we could find that 'herd immunity' exists sooner in more intensely populated areas - so areas of deprivation and in big cities but lingers longer in the more rural and less populated areas.

And yet @mercybooth your average Joe worried about losing a deposit on a holiday to tenerife was a selfish cow who should be publicly flogged.

There has been a nasty undercurrent of snobbery to a lot of these threads hasnt there?

TabbyStar · 21/11/2020 07:33

I am so bored. Every day is the same and there's nothing to do. I've barely spoken to anyone all week. I'd already been in isolation for two weeks with a couple of days break (I went swimming!) when lockdown started. I can just feel myself getting more anxious and lethargic. I want to go to a cafe for breakfast.

The my old man's a dustman song has helped to cheer me up a bit though, I wonder who recorded it.

It's also very much 'if we follow the rules then we know we are doing the right thing because the government says so' without understanding that the rules are only as good and just as the people who make them. And that history shows us the blind following of government rules doesn't mean you're doing what's right.

I’m bored as well. Friends want a virtual catch up later - don’t know why, none of us have been anywhere or done anything to talk about! The word virtual needs to be banned after this ridiculousness.
Hate to mention the Daily Mail but there is an interesting article this morning about what we are not being told regarding Covid. Catch it now before it disappears for not agreeing with the government agenda!
