There’s a jolly hostess
Giving porridge free
She’ll provide you with shots

You like to seeeeee...

Going out was in style
Now we’re stuck in this aisle
Dream of being free
And it’s hard to get by
When your arse is the size
Of the furlough feeeeeee🎤

If they cancel Strictly then I am FINISHED!

Back in April, putting the wheelie bin out was positively a social highlight of the week Grin

Breaking news for Northern Ireland.
The Northern Ireland Executive has this evening announced an extension to the fire break lockdown. Close contact services including hair and beauty salons will reopen by appointment on Friday 20 November.
The NHBF is extremely disappointed with this last minute decision and the further impact this will have on the industry. We are now in discussion with the NI Government to ensure additional financial support is available to businesses for the extended period of lockdown

Checking in as am going to need some sanity for the next 2 weeks! Dh is now home for 2 bloody weeks as some idiot at his work has tested positive so the whole bloody team are shut down for 2 weeks even though no one was in contact and no one has any symptoms! He better get full pay and I am doubling my alcohol order in advance!! 😂😂

ultragroupie · 12/11/2020 20:33

Hello and thanks for the new thread 👋. I mainly lurk but it’s great to have an oasis of sanity!

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 12/11/2020 20:43

@LivinLaVidaLoki, I'm making my Christmas cake this weekend - I always do cake and pudding around now. We did the puddings last week and put the fruit to soak for the cake.

Sorry to hear you're feeling in danger of burning out at work. I am too, with less excuse than you; managing and supporting 20 people remotely when I never fucking see them, can't buy them a drink, can't casually wander past their door and notice that they're looking a bit down, is really really rubbish, and gets more rubbish the longer it goes on.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 12/11/2020 20:43

Forgot to say thanks for the new thread and the great title!

MercyBooth · 12/11/2020 20:54

Good Housekeeping"s Christmas cake/recipe this year has snoozing little robins sat on little yule logs on top of the cake, (they have used Flakes for the yule logs) its really cute.

MissEWeatherwax · 12/11/2020 21:38

I made my Christmas cake weeks ago. I also had my fly jab today. Took DD for a takeaway cappuccino and a white hot chocolate. What a exciting day.

I had a long chat with a customer today regarding the pros and cons of Bing. What has my life become?
NannyGythaOgg · 12/11/2020 21:46

Made my Christmas cake in October (first one I've made for over 20 years). I'm feeding it weekly. Rum one week and Amaretto the next. 3 more feeds and then the almond icing goes on. I haven't decided yet whether I should white ice it or not. I don't think I've made royal icing since I was at school - it's too fucking hard. I might buy some white fondant but there again. I may leave it with just almond paste.

psychomath · 12/11/2020 21:47

Whooooot don't worry about the meds, they'll just make the alcohol go further Wink

Evenstar · 12/11/2020 21:51

No excitement here today, though yesterday I heard that I have been chosen for a vaccine trial, so that might be exciting if I don’t get the placebo and it works.

Had a zoom call with friends tonight and seems to be little to discuss other than COVID 🙁

My friend works at a school and they are part of a testing trial and they have found 8 asymptomatic cases in one year group, interestingly with this new rapid test although they have been sent home they will be retested for confirmation, it seems it shows lower levels than the PCR test and they aren’t sure if they are below the levels that would be infectious. Hard to know really if more testing is a good thing or not.

Willow2017 · 12/11/2020 21:59

Loving the new thread and 1st post. That will be stuck in my head for a while.😄

Nothing exciting here just work which has been screwed thanks to Boris. Never know what i am doing now and hours basically cut in half so now off for 3 days.😠
Will do my xmas cake on one of those days.
Hugs to everyone struggling with tbe ongoing crap.

NoisyBrain · 12/11/2020 22:00

@Curlygirl06 The kids TV show or the search engine? Grin

NeedWineNow · 12/11/2020 22:14

Checking in for the coach trip - no Percy Pigs but a job lot of mini Colin the Caterpillar.

Have gone back to avoiding the news. Binge watched the last three Riviera 3 and an episode of Vikings to avoid the BBC doom and gloom.

MissEWeatherwax · 12/11/2020 22:35

Who is Bing? Is that children’s tv? They better not cancel Strictly. That and Bake off has been my happy tv.
That was supposed to be flu jab. Did feel a bit light headed, but was so nervous only had tea/cappuccino all day. Feel silly as was painlessBlush
We did binge watch The Alienist, three times because DH kept bloody falling asleep. It was excellent, now hoping for series 3.
My DD said it was lovely just going out. How sad, she should be out with her friends, not getting a takeaway hot chocolate with her Mam. She even enjoyed the trip to TescoSad

justasking111 · 12/11/2020 22:36

cancel strictly that is daft. Mind you here our local fb pages on social media are baying for I`m a celebrity to be cancelled in Wales because of covid. Them dirty buggers ought to stay at home rather than entertain folk. To be fair to them all they have been locked down a lot harder than anyone for the last month dotted about the local area.

Bollss · 12/11/2020 22:38

Bing is a right little arsehole. Don't know how flop puts up with him. I'd be shouty.

MissEWeatherwax · 12/11/2020 22:42

I didn’t know you could swap alcohol for Christmas cake. I thought whatever you started with you had to continue. That’s port and sherry going in now. I had soaked my fruit in brandy. I’m going retro on the decoration, so will be snow effect. The diet will have to start February because I’m the only one who likes spice cake.

I use a syringe and needle, so different places every time. I used port one week. I will be the only one eating mine too, unless I swap chunks with a friend, which is a distinct possibility.

If I do decide to white ice, I do a ski slope. Cut a wedge from one quarter and flip it, then do the almond paste to fit, then white ice with snow effect on the flat half and smooth down the slope, with a salom and skiing snowmen. I love the effect, but if only I am going to admire it then it seems a bit pointless.

With regards to alcohol, Nanny is definitely more educated than Granny 🤣🤣

I think he gets through it with passive aggression and sarcasm. At least that's what I think when he says 'good for you Bing'. DS prefers Mr Tumble, if that kid impresses everyone with sign language it's not my diligent parenting! I get so bored watching kids TV I end up making my own fan theories. Anyone else watch Jojo and GranGran and think Cynthia is a cougar with a thing for Jared?

In other news we are officially on the air corridor list although I don't know how that works with lockdown. Hopefully Bojo ends it when he says he will.

MercyBooth · 13/11/2020 02:36

I cant stop thinking of Danger Mouse ever since someone said Jonathan Van Tam looks like Penfold
