🎤On the National Express
There’s a jolly hostess
Giving porridge free
She’ll provide you with shots
amaretto or what
You like to seeeeee...

Going out was in style
Now we’re stuck in this aisle
Dream of being free
And it’s hard to get by
When your arse is the size
Of the furlough feeeeeee🎤

Bah ba ba la
Bah ba ba la

Tomorrow belongs to meee...

Welcome to the 17:38 to freedom, stopping at virtual hugs, critical discourse, and random tangents along the way. ETA unknown...

Just been reading in the news today out of 70 people told to self isolate as a contact for covid, on average out of that only 1 tests positive.

All this people at home for nothing, losing work and money. Only now calls to change this and have tests or shorter period. and use tests for example for old people's home / more targeted.

@Iheartmysmart

I’m bored as well. Friends want a virtual catch up later - don’t know why, none of us have been anywhere or done anything to talk about! The word virtual needs to be banned after this ridiculousness. Hate to mention the Daily Mail but there is an interesting article this morning about what we are not being told regarding Covid. Catch it now before it disappears for not agreeing with the government agenda!
Read the DM article they've been following us haven't they. Did a zoom call five of us bit weird at first but two hours flew by. Bucked me up no end in lock down even the husbands joined in

Have been told not to tell friends and family as what I need is a nice relaxing day, not one full of people ringing to see how I am... but I need to tell someone so you guys it is Smile - but baby is not going to be a December baby after all!! (Am at 38 weeks so this is not a problem.)

LivinLaVidaLoki · 21/11/2020 11:26

@110APiccadilly oh my god how exciting!!!!
Thanks

Iheartmysmart · 21/11/2020 11:31

Oooh live birth thread!! Congratulations xxx
110APiccadilly · 21/11/2020 11:39

Thanks all! Not sure I'll be giving regular updates Grin, but I'll certainly let you know when it's here (which could be today, tomorrow or early next week) but I'm on a countdown now as my waters have broken!

TheOrchidKiller · 21/11/2020 11:43

Very exciting @110APicadilly!
What will arrive first- the end of English lockdown, or your baby?!

I'm still in bed. Should probably get up & open the curtains.

TheOrchidKiller · 21/11/2020 11:45

but I'm on a countdown now as my waters have broken!
Crikey, I definitely hope the baby arrives before December, then!
Good luck for the coming days, hope all goes well.

Iheartmysmart · 21/11/2020 11:46

Just had a look at the thread about someone who thinks they caught Covid outside. Some of the convoluted scenarios being proposed as possible transmission causes are hilarious. Not even a confirmed case!

110APiccadilly · 21/11/2020 11:56

I've just realised there's a great opportunity here. All the things we try to tell people not to do but they do anyway (speeding, drug taking, dropping litter, that sort of thing) - maybe we should come up with (improbable) scenarios which mean they increase your risk of catching Covid. For instance, if you drop litter then as the litter leaves your hand, the virus senses a vacuum and jumps onto your hand, filling the space where the litter was.

ISaySteadyOn · 21/11/2020 12:08

@110APiccadilly, Flowers. Exciting news!

Also, like the litter idea Smile

Sonicthehedgehogg · 21/11/2020 12:19

Fab news @110APiccadilly ! We will cross everything for you whilst er.... you have to keep everything uncrossed Grin

Orangeblossom7777 · 21/11/2020 12:34

Do you think after the vaccine comes in people will still be neurotic about catching covid etc or will it pass? I'm not sure.

Ooh! Hope you’re all right

I probably won’t be in much today as I had an attack of vertigo last night and imagine computer not good for eyes.

I think it depends how much the media bang on about it.
LivinLaVidaLoki · 21/11/2020 12:45

Just seen that thread
"Next time we will rub shoulders, break the rules and potentially pass on Covid to each other, but at least that makes it easier for people like you to pass."

I am sick to fucking death of pointing out you can only pass it on if you have it to start with.
Why is that so hard to understand?

ISaySteadyOn · 21/11/2020 12:46

Because now we are all pre-plague bearers.Hmm

We just went for a walk in the woods (because what else can you do?!), there was at least two groups also at the car park who were clearly different households, arriving in different cars and walking together. No embarrassment about loudly asking grannnt and grandad how they are and being asked how work was going etc.

I know people met up "accidentally" in last lockdown, but this time, there was no embarrassment or attempt to hide it. It does feel more like there's no lockdown this time, just we are being inconvenienced rather than lockdowned down.

MargosKaftan · 21/11/2020 12:50

Which reminds me, I've got nails booked for 4th December but better book for week of 21st.

See if I can get my hair booked too. I'm refusing to entertain the idea this fake lockdown will be extended.

BogRollBOGOF · 21/11/2020 12:52

My idiot of the week award goes to the stupid prat trying a "socially distanced" conversation a few feet into a narrow, busy 40mph road. Oncoming car so I had to brake sharply so the daft cow could get out of my way rather than remodeling my car bonnet.

Got to love a Covid-focused risk assessment Hmm

@110APiccadilly exciting news, hope everything goes smoothly and not too slowly xx

Reedwarbler · 21/11/2020 13:33

Well, you're never going to believe this - the ongoing disaster that is my fil's (with bad alzheimers) care. Brief recap- was in hospital for unconnected reason where he fell and broke his hip. They admitted it was their fault. For the last 2 weeks (after 6 weeks in hospital) he has been in an assessment care home in solitary confinement (he is covid free but had to do his 14 days). My H phoned him yesterday and he was very distressed. Saying he wanted to leave and that he was going to walk out. He also made allegations of mistreatment but said he couldn't speak freely. My H spoke to a care assistant who said that despite his quarantine being up (last wednesday), he must stay in his room. Doesn't that sound a bit like being in prison to you?
At 2.30 this morning the home rang to say he had fallen and broken his arm. This morning it transpires that, yes, he has broken his upper left arm, but he has also broken his other hip, and will need surgery in the next few days, same as needed when he broke the other hip. Apparently he refused to go to bed last night and sat in his chair saying he wanted to leave. They then heard a bang and he was on the floor.
I am pretty speechless about this. We will be seeking legal advice after the weekend, and will also be using the homes complaint procedure, complaining to the CQC and anyone else we can think of. Fil is very frail and 93. To have such terrible treatment at the end of his life almost leaves me without words. How many other people, who can't speak for themselves, are receiving substandard and generally poor care because of covid? We are the ONLY people who can advocate for my fil, yet we are shut out as the nhs/local authority manages to break both his hips and his arm whilst in their 'care'.
If this wasn't happening to us I would find this hard to believe!

TabbyStar · 21/11/2020 13:55

Really sorry to hear that Reed, very upsetting to not be there. Some of those things sound like what my DF was saying at EoL, he was quite confused at times, actually my DM too when she was in hospital at the beginning of the year was sounding quite paranoid about things probably a mix of the pain and drugs, and actually the nurses not being very nice (they were lovely where my DF was). Hope you get somewhere and he gets the care he needs Thanks

Also good luck Piccadilly!
