Good things about Biden?

roarfeckingroarr · 07/11/2020 19:30

Aside that he isn't Trump?

I'm very happy the orange misogynist has lost, but haven't heard or read a single good policy or reason to be excited about Biden.

Anyone who knows more and is excited about a Biden win not just a Trump loss, please could you come on and explain why?

It's sickening how many women will stand and defend biden groping children in plain sight because... He's a rich white guy? If it was creepy joe from down the road, would you still shout false news or would you keep your own children away from him?

BillBaileysPasoFace · 08/11/2020 17:07

He will be the first president to have a rescue dog in the White House.

I know.

We have had many threads about overly affectionate relatives and strangers . Staff in restraunts stroking the children etc ajd the answers are far far far different.

The only occasion where placing your hand where its placed is if it was an emergency situation because the last thing you are probably worrying about when you are trying to stop a chikd falling off a bridge or getting badly hurt, is where your hand is.

Other than that there is no context or family set up where that is ok. Especially when the children look so terrified

I mean come the fuck on. Look at the children's body language. I don't give a shit if the adults around those children said it was ok. Those children are scared and trapped with his hands on them and they've been badly let down by the adults around them. I mean surely its not being the realms of imagination that a parent might feel a few minutes discomfort for their child is worth not offending a senior politician. In at least one video i saw, the childs mother knows something isn't right. But she seems to be too scared to do anything other than move her child out of harm's way.

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/11/2020 17:25

They always seem really charming towards the adults too. So laughing and chatting away distracting the adults then the hands...

Quaagars · 08/11/2020 17:47

Where has anyone done that on here?

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/11/2020 17:49

I’ve sen the endless videos. This may or may not all be true. Many are family members, does that mean, as an elderly white male, he can not be affection with his family or friends children? We do not know the exact circumstances, all we have is a brief snap shot in time

That said, I know a few older men who never got out of the habit of being a bit handsy, BUT it's not a sexual thing, more the way youd cluck a baby under the chin. Patronising and old fashioned rather than sinister, imo - not going to watch compilations so maybe that's not Biden at all, but it certainly is for men of my acquaintance of that age

Here. Apparently he's just old and cant help ot Hmm

Still waiting on the appropriate context....

NorbertMeubles · 08/11/2020 17:52

He is a good man who treats people with respect. I love him. I think the White House will be breathing a sigh of relief that someone decent is moving in.

Crankley · 08/11/2020 17:53

Also very fond of women and girls

I assume he isn't called Creepy Uncle Joe for nothing.

Viviennemary · 08/11/2020 17:53

I thought Biden was too old and frail. But he does seem a nice sensible man. We shall see.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 08/11/2020 17:54

I am quite wary of him.

However - he isn’t trump and has a bit of class.

NorbertMeubles · 08/11/2020 17:56

He puts his country before himself. He is not all 'look at me me me me me'. He won't make the USA a laughing stock. Obama rates him as a colleague and friend and that counts for a lot. Oh and he won't tweet vile racist shite day after day after day.

7Days · 08/11/2020 18:01

Oh dont be ridiculous.
I've clearly said i haven't watched the videos so haven't defended Biden.
What I do have experience of, is older men patronising kids by treating them like babies, patting them in a non sexual way. Like clucking a baby under their chin.
Unaware of any discomfort. Not getting any sexual thrills out of it, not brazenly assaulting people in front of the world for kicks, with sadistic chuckles.

It was the norm a few years ago to affectionately pat children, 99 % of the men who did it did it in a patronising affectionate way, that's how the other 1% got away with using it for kicks, it was disguised by the rest of them who were merely patronising.

It is ok to think things are merely annoying rather than being out as and out viscerally fearful and traumatizing.

Maybe he is merely out of touch rather than actively evil.

MrsSpringfield · 08/11/2020 18:01

The video was awful, how was it doctored? Is it definitely proven to be fake?

Quaagars · 08/11/2020 18:02

@Viviennemary
I thought Biden was too old and frail.

I don't get this argument, I've seen it quite a bit on social media the past few weeks.
I mean, Trump's in his 70s too!
Is it just because he's got grey hair and looks a bit Grandad like lol?
I don't see him as frail., he's hardly doddering around!
Maybe he should get some Sun In on his hair and some Tango Tan going on to stop people going "wah, old man' Grin

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/11/2020 18:02

I'd watch the videos then...

Quaagars · 08/11/2020 18:04

Still waiting on the appropriate context....

Context is everything on these type of subjects, and it's never forthcoming when you ask for it.
Just defensiveness, umming and ahhing, and but buts....

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 08/11/2020 18:05

He seems to connect with blue collar workers he admits to the Democrats have lost touch with some

Unfortunately the Democrats have lost many of their core voters and they need to win their trust back

For fucks sake go and watch the videos then before you start suggesting maybe he's doing it in a fatherly manner. Look at the girls, not at him. He's absolutely not being fatherly. And loads of people on Mumsnet, including this thread have said it's fake news.

It's absolutely not. Watch the goddamn videos. Quite frankly I'm sick of people like whoever it was I've quoted, suggesting that other women are wrong about what we've seen in these videos. Like i said, if he wasn't a rich and powerful man nobody would be asking "are you sure?" About a video of a man asking children very inappropriate questions and touching them up.

Why would this powerful man be any different to any other powerful man with complete freedom to do what he wants? Because he's a democrat? Please. How many priests, teachers, judges, police officers, have ever been found guilty but nobody believed they were capable of it? "Oh no, not him, hes a good man. He wouldn't do that".

Respect for women and children? Yeah right.

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/11/2020 18:35

And im still stunned at the suggestion we should actually feel sorry fir him being unable to continue his "patronising and infantalising " way of stroking and touching children because a bunch of predators ruined it fir them..I mean erm...

derxa · 08/11/2020 19:26

Just waiting for someone to say he said George instead of Trump because of his dysfluency.
He's too old to be president. Trump's hideous and too old to be president. So I suppose that's the difference

I suggest you watch the videos and decide for yourself if it's "patronising clucking" when you see little girls wriggling away from him
7Days · 08/11/2020 20:04

Yup I'll watch the videos, shouldn't have commented without doing so.

Just leapt to his defence in an automatic manner, because I genuinely do know decent old duffers who tousle hair and pat backs without there being anything sinister in it. Conflation I suppose.

So alarming in this day and age that people's behaviour is excused because of their status.

Can I also point out that "it's only patronising clucking" is how Jimmy Saville got away with a lot of his assaults

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/11/2020 20:08

Predetors are often the last people you'd suspect. They are the most charming friendly kindest person you have ever met. They are the pillar of the community amd no one ever has a bad word to say about them...
