Good things about Biden?

Aside that he isn't Trump?

I'm very happy the orange misogynist has lost, but haven't heard or read a single good policy or reason to be excited about Biden.

Anyone who knows more and is excited about a Biden win not just a Trump loss, please could you come on and explain why?

He is very experienced at consensus so will be good at working with the opposition as he will have to do if the senate remains under Republican control. He has a decent working relationship with the Republican senate leader.

@GlummyMcGlummerson I’m not sure which particular one you are referring to but many of them have been manipulated or taken out of context. On social media, the accusations are often accompanied by images, memes, GIFs and videos of Biden appearing to touch children inappropriately. The photos that are real often lack context. Others are not of him or have been deceptively edited to suggest something improper. I’m not excusing the fact that I think his idea of personal boundaries are screwed but I do believe much of this has been blown out of proportion by his opponents.

Have you seen the video footage of him making young girls squirm as his hand sits under their breast?

Tell me please how that can ever be taken out of context.

And if it was Kev the local drunk pawing at girls, people would have something to say. But the allure of the rich white American somehow renders his inappropriate behaviour different.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 08/11/2020 09:45

And the videos of his swearing in ceremony where he's inappropriately touching the daughters of Democrat politicians is not doctored, sadly their parents came out in droves to defend him doing things like this to their children.

Happy to link to the video if you want more context.

Good things about Biden?
Tadpolesandfroglets · 08/11/2020 10:21

I’ve sen the endless videos. This may or may not all be true. Many are family members, does that mean, as an elderly white male, he can not be affection with his family or friends children? We do not know the exact circumstances, all we have is a brief snap shot in time. I am not entirely sure (until there is a valid claim or something more substantial) what can be done about this?. Watch and wait is sadly our only course of action. Trump certainly has had much more thrown at him that has stuck and been validated. I’m holding my breath and waiting, could be the lesser of two evils. Could be there is some truth in the allegations but as it stands and with the choices we have been given I prefer Biden.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 08/11/2020 10:34

@Tadpolesandfroglets if anyone ever posts on here about grandparents and hugs and kisses the answers are always, rightly, that kids shouldn't be forced to be affectionate if it makes them feel uncomfortableZ

Why wouldn't you extend that to Joe Biden? It makes it ok to be physically over familiar with children because he's related? No.

Re the rich white male - he gets away with it and people minimise his behaviour in a way they wouldn't with some plumber down at the pub, or a POC.

See for yourself and tell me if you try ink any of this is appropriate (with the kids, they are children of Democrats as it's his swearing in ceremony)

Obama has endorsed him and Obama is, in my opinion, a good and trustworthy man.

Tadpolesandfroglets · 08/11/2020 10:40

I do extend that to Joe Biden but it’s a snapshot. Until anything is validated, what can we do? There are no claims he has acted inappropriately by either the children or the parents. As yet. As I have explained, I would choose him over Trump any day of the week.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 08/11/2020 10:47

@Tadpolesandfroglets did you watch the video?

I find it hard to believe that any parent would be ok with a man acting like that towards their kids.

The minimising of celeb bad behaviour on here never fails to amaze me Hmm

GlummyMcGlummerson · 08/11/2020 10:48

There have also been various sexual assault claims against him.

It seems the USA have swapped on predatory prick for another

Tadpolesandfroglets · 08/11/2020 10:56

Like I said until there is evidence that has been substantiated....I am celebrating that he is no Trump.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 08/11/2020 11:02

Not being Trump doesn't mean he's the opposite.

So did you watch the video? Pretty clear evidence to me that he is inappropriate with young girls. What more evidence do you need than video footage exactly?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 08/11/2020 11:09

Hes known for being able to work well with Republicans which will be very important in his presidency. Moderation will have to be the path because there remain many Republicans in poeer

caringcarer · 08/11/2020 12:01

It worried me he called Trump George and his granddaughter his dead son's name. Given his age hoping if he is going senile he will hand over major decision making to Harris.

wowfudge · 08/11/2020 12:06

Have you never called someone by the wrong name? George was the presenter's name. Bit much to call him senile.

Tadpolesandfroglets · 08/11/2020 13:00

He's 3 years older than Trump. Not a huge difference.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 08/11/2020 13:10

Well if getting family names wrong is a sign of senility then I need to go into a home ASAP. I frequently mix up my kids names, and when we had a dog I called DD the dog's name more often than her own 🤣

Me too, I’m only 32, I also had to recently work out my age using my date of birth as I didn’t know if I was turning 32 or 33 in January...
ThousandsAreSailing · 08/11/2020 16:38

I wanted Trump gone so I'm happy about that but I'm not celebrating. He is a creep. How anyone can justify the groping and sniffing is beyond me. There is no context where that is ok

nosswith · 08/11/2020 16:53

Apparently he thinks Brexit was a historic mistake. I agree with him if that is the case.

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/11/2020 16:54

How are the photos of him.being disturbingly touchy feeley with children fake or taken out if context?

It would be disturbing even if they were family.

The body language of the child says it all.

Unless the burning building they were just pulled from has been cropped out rhe picture....

7Days · 08/11/2020 16:54

I wouldn't use the parents handwaving as proof of anything. I would almost certainly brush it under the carpet to protect my daughters from a big massive Presidential level scandal - I wouldn't have the fight in me, or them, more to the point.

That said, I know a few older men who never got out of the habit of being a bit handsy, BUT it's not a sexual thing, more the way youd cluck a baby under the chin. Patronising and old fashioned rather than sinister, imo - not going to watch compilations so maybe that's not Biden at all, but it certainly is for men of my acquaintance of that age.

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 08/11/2020 16:58

Fond of women and girls? Yeah he is very "fond" of very young girls, in full view of cameras and gets away with it. He's disgusting.

yetanothernamitynamechange · 08/11/2020 17:02

He never came across particularly well to me (I heard a comedian say he was a half wit but Trump was a quarter wit so he was still an improvement.) However, he has come across really well in the last few days after all the election ho haa he seemed very statesman like. Of course, it is fairly easy to seem statesmanlike when the other guy is Trump, but the contrast between them was marked.
