I tried a new method of KT taping and stretching, and ran 5k virtually pain free! So pleased. I was about ready to write the rest of this year off. 👍👍👍

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 10/11/2020 13:53

It is my mother's birthday in 2 weeks and I have no clue what to buy her. She has everything she needs and wants.

MissConductUS · 10/11/2020 14:08

@fortifiedwithtea - My DD is also a full-time uni student, working part-time at at posh bakery/cafe. She recently came home with a t-shirt that says "Crust Me, It's Good". Grin

@Spudlet - well done! I've just googled KT taping. I had no idea about it. It sounds fab, but I don't think it will help with my torn ligament. What new stretching are you doing?

We've settled on a Thanksgiving menu. It'll be baked ham, mac and cheese with two kinds of cheddar, glazed baby carrots, and homemade apple pie for dessert. Not especially traditional, but that's fine under the circumstances.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus aw, bet you can't wait to get it over and done with.

It amused me just now as I was walking past the local supermarket and a couple came out, the man was saying "I don't give a fack" and the woman was talking to him in measured, calm tones. I felt like loitering to find out what he didn't give a fack about.

I was on a spinach mission, nearest supermarket doesn't sell it, when I went in and circled the aisles and went to exit as I couldn't see any a member of staff said "where do you think you're going??" (they know me quite well) so I said sorry but I needed spinach so would have to go to tescos instead and got called a traitor :)

Champagneforeveryone · 10/11/2020 14:56

Pffft.

The patient has a temperature so has had a COVID test this afternoon. Now comes the wait for results - if that's not dull then I don't know what is Hmm

unebaguettepastropcuite · 10/11/2020 15:03

I have two large and painful spots. One on my chin and one on my temple.I suspect perimenopause

Spudlet · 10/11/2020 15:03

@Champagneforeveryone Nooooooooooo! Fingers crossed here for a negative result. Argh.

@MissConductUS KT tape is great! I rarely go for a run without a few bits stuck on somewhere Grin I’ve started stretching my calves by standing on the edge of the stairs and dropping my heels - the trick is to be standing on the arch of your foot rather than the ball, as although it’s a bit counter-intuitive you get a better stretch that way. And to do it for a lot longer than I thought - working up to three sets of three minutes every day. I did two sets of three minutes yesterday when I was first trying it, and then three sets of 1.5 minutes today. Tomorrow I’ll go up to a minute 45 seconds.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/11/2020 15:37

As I promised DH I came home early and we had couscous.
Now I'll perhaps try to log on to my office PC from home to get stuff done, but then again perhaps I won't.

Does anyone have a cute cat picture to cheer me up? Sodding ?

And the best to those with pains and niggles.

MissConductUS · 10/11/2020 15:55

Of course. This is Autumn and Mingus, who were littermates.

I'm going to make champ for dinner, and sausages, and I'm going to arrange them into little volcanos with the gravy

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 10/11/2020 16:02

You need broccoli trees... and a few plastic dinosaurs.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/11/2020 16:12

Thank you Miss this household is sadly lacking in cats and will not get any until DD moves into her own place.
Our Sev suddenly died in Febuary.

Spudlet · 10/11/2020 16:14

Can’t help with the cats but I can offer an very annoying spaniel giving me a death stare because of his haircut (and the light in his eyes, but the thought of it being a death stare amuses me more).

ChampagneCat (who would be thrilled if DS had a positive COVID test and her minions were all forced to stay at home at her beck and call)

Spudlet Dogs pictures are very welcome, too, of course.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/11/2020 16:32

Hello ChampagneCat!
A cute littla face

Frownette · 10/11/2020 16:36

I haven't got any pets to brighten up the day.

I'm a bit alarmed as I have to take over my mother's finances which was something I was trying to avoid. She's a catastrophe in a cannister and I can't swerve it anymore despite how much I hate taking over.

Frownette · 10/11/2020 16:38

She's wasted about a million quid, I have to step in now

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/11/2020 16:48

Frownette
That sounds like a lot of work.

We took over DMil's finances when she moved into a care home in April. But it is all very simple and straight forward. She worked in admin all her life and even the payment for the flowers on her future grave is already sorted.

EggyPegg · 10/11/2020 17:27

DH bought new shower gel yesterday, so following my shower this morning, I have smelled like unicorn sparkles all day.

Nydj · 10/11/2020 17:30

Dh is making dinner tonight so I am mumsnetting

SilkieRabbits · 10/11/2020 17:32

The cat is not taking photo requests at the moment but here are the silkies snuggled up together.

DH has gone to see electrician at house, change of plan from handing solicitors forms in, so tomorrow its gas and epc and Thurs solicitors forms. Non-stop fun here.

DD asked for an audible book so got her one, then said she'ld maybe like 24 at once. I said maybe later but managed to get a free one so she's got 2 for now. She changes her mind a lot so don't want 24 at once.

EggyPegg · 10/11/2020 17:40

Here are the EggyCats last night. Cat2 was chilled and asleep in her usual spot. Cat1 apparently perched there all evening, hoping that Cat2 would move.

Cat1 just announced that she wanted a cuddle by leaping onto my back and hanging on with her claws. I yelped. She's now on my lap and stinks as I put the flea treatment on about an hour ago. You are welcome to my side boob in the right here and now picture.

@SilkieRabbits
Oh thank you - I love your silkies. They look so soft, but feel probably spiky. I know Küken do (what's the English for baby chickens?)
